THIS REVIEW IS LONG OVERDUE! Where do I start? I graduated in March 2022 and took my esthetician board in April 2022. I passed on the first try with no help from Bellus. I used outside resources to prepare for my exam. The resources Bellus gave did not suffice. Nevertheless, I would like to discuss my full experience at Bellus. I started in September due to no communication for a whole month from the Chula Vista Campus where I originally wanted to attend. Since then, I decided to attend the El Cajon campus where there have been constant changes that were not addressed in orientation or during the enrollment process. That being said, I was told along with other students that the first two months would be online and then after that for the rest of the program I would physically come on campus Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Once I became an intermediate student who physically came into campus it has been brought to my attention by my instructor Ashley Persini that once I become a Senior the class will be in person Monday-Friday every day. During the enrollment process that is not what Caroline (Admissions) said, or any other representative for that matter. Furthermore, the intermediate class and Senior class also a Senior instructor. How was it fair that the Seniors at that time could come in on the same day as us (intermediate) which is 3 days a week but once I become a senior I have to come in every day? We learned waxing but there are only two waxing pots, for over 15 students. Some students who picked up their kit were still missing items that they were supposed to have. Also, I wanted to briefly discuss the issues with the financial aid representative Dianne. Initially, I paid my remaining balance of $800+ out of pocket in person before the school date started. I had a 0 balance. Shortly after the program started Diane tried to get me to take out a loan for a balance I already paid. Thankfully with me being on top of my paperwork, I reached out to the financial aid director and she was able to clear my account when I showed her the receipt that I paid. In addition, she sent the wrong information to the VA affecting my attendance record.   Nevertheless, I also wanted to discuss one of my instructors Ashley Pernini. She treats black students in the class unfairly. For example, at the time when I was expecting, I made that very clear before joining the program as well as telling Ms. Ashley. I do not use this as an excuse. I put forth just as much work as the next student however, there's still a difference in how I'm being treated and it's not in a respectful way. We would go over state board every Monday although it's no longer a requirement to be a Licensed Esthetician for the State of California and there's a senior student that always sits down while practicing state board. She is not pregnant and does not have medical issues. However, the moment I sit down Ms. Ashley calls me out in a rude manner. Not to mention the lack of professionalism when she talks to students. I graduated from college with a B.S in Business Management, and I know how students should be treated, however, Ms. Ashley talks to us in condescending tones and thinks she knows everything but when you ask her for more clarity about the actual theory that is in the online textbook she's not able to elaborate. She allows students to eat when it is not their break time, but as soon as I or another black student eats while waiting our turn to use equipment because theirs, is not enough equipment to go around there is a problem. We have to waste time and hours waiting on each other just to use the equipment. When things do not go her way she threatens to take away hours. Furthermore, she locks the supply cabinets and has been for a while. For all the money that we pay for tuition, students should be able to access the products for whatever service we may need, however, we are treated like children and have to access every single product as if it's her products that she paid for. I can go on and on about unethical issues about her and preferential treatment. As an active duty service member in the Navy, I could have chosen to attend any esthetician school and I choose Bellus which was a clear mistake. Bellus does not meet the expectations that I had seen in reviews. Furthermore, I do not appreciate the unprofessionalism and rudeness that Ms. Ashley brought toward black students. Veterans utilize your educational benefits elsewhere and anyone pregnant doesn't expect to be treated fairly. read more

I wanted to note that I had been to the Poway location before but this location is much more intimate and the people here are helpful and sweet! They are extremely patient and kind. I was a little thrown off that I wasn't in a private room but a dark classroom. This would have been fine except the teachers were shouting across the class room to other students. Let me start off If you want to attend an esthetician school, this is not the one. literally RUN. I've been in school for about 8 months here and it's a hot mess. The Freshman teacher Ms.Ashely picks and chooses who she likes and doesn't depending on her mood. She could be the nicest person to you but bully the student sitting right next to you. Don't be fooled The director of the campus Yvonne doesn't take situations seriously including active event of bullying and harassment. Students can yell at you, threaten you and hit you but can still attend school like nothing happened. The Lux class is a waste of money and time since you sit in class and just read from a book and watch youtube videos 24/7. All the circular you "learn" in that class is unorganized and you can learn somewhere else for a lot cheaper and less wasted time. If i could include all the situations to tell you to run from this review would be pages long. Take my word for it, go for the poway location or a different school completely read more

I went to get a microdermabrasion with Isabella Rodriguez. I wasn't sure what the full process of a microdermabrasion, so I was a little nervous but Isabella helped because she knew what she was doing and made me feel relaxed and calm. She was constantly asking me if I was feeling okay just like the last time I came here with her and told me every step of what she was doing to keep me rest assured. Staff and students are fabulous! I asked for chunky highlights, and the student had never done those kind of highlights, but she did an excellent job 20/10!! So much better than I expected anyone to do for it, it came about even better than I envisione. I also asked for curtain bangs and a feathered hair cut, it looks amazing! She struggled with my hairline a bit, but I have a widows peak so that is expected. I love my hair it came out so beautifu! she did a great job on the highlights and lowlights.
