Jerk chicken with mashed Yam and sautéed vegetables and fried plantains
    Fadjana J.

Came here with hubby for a quick after work bite and it did not disappoint. I remember coming here years ago and have been wanting to come back. Cody the bartender welcomed and seated us with a smile. This establishment is not big but it is definitely welcoming. The music was on point and decor fit the theme to make for a chill vibe. Our waitress Yanique was attentive and very pleasant always checking up on us to make sure we were good. These drinks that Cody whipped up were strong and hit the spot. The food was absolutely delicious. So often Caribbean restaurants don't serve authentic jerk chicken, but Bellyful did it right. And hubby had the pasta with honey garlic salmon which was equally delicious. Everything was seasoned to perfection. This place is highly recommended. We left completely satiated.

This place is definitely losing its touch. I live close so I walked here to sit and work a few times. Typically everything is ok but now they dont even open upstairs anymore, which is the area that I used to like. Now if you go I'm the winter you pretty much get slapped by the cold every time the door opens. My menu was dirty. I'm pretty sure the server saw it but still gave it to me which speaks a lot to the every day practices here. Also my silverware was not clean. I still went ahead n ordered and the food was 8/10 good. This review is not meant to trash Bellyful because I really likes this place. I just want them to tighten up. This place has too much potential to let it go down the drain.

I walked in on a Saturday late night/ early morning. Restaurant was scheduled to close at 2:00 am. I stopped in at 1:00am and my order was taken. Person taking my order informed me that the wings that I ordered would take a little minute. No problem so I waited. Upon arrival, there was a dj playing music on the Saturday night. The restaurant/ bar was not crowded at all. There were 2 people sitting at the bar with the bartender alert and ready for more customers. I didn't order drinks from this location because I knew I had to drive so maybe next time. I received my food. It looked good. As far as taste... not impressed what so ever. The Mac and cheese was tasteless (and I am a sucker for good Mac and cheese). The wings (Cajun wings) were just ok. I enjoyed the hospitality and the music from this establishment. The particular order that I had, will not be my "go-to". Thanks again.

Jerk shrimp appetizers and codfish fritters.

I recently dined here with a friend after finding the restaurant on Yelp and looking at the reviews. I decided to give Bellyful a shot, even after noticing multiple reviewers note that the service was slow and bad at times, however they said the food was good. Upon entry we weren't greeted, I had to find someone to seat us. We were seated upstairs because there's was a large party celebrating a birthday on the main level. The decor is promising, but the tables are noticably higher than normal when you sit down. We sat near the window view of kitchen, which can only been seen if you stood up and looked however. There's was a DJ playing music, good music on this Saturday night. We ordered drinks and appetizers. My passion fruit margarita was terrible sweet it tasted like syrup, the waitress, Melissa was able to exchange it out for a frozen strawberry daiquri which was much better. I ordered the codfish fritters and my friend ordered the jerk shrimp skewers. The time it took for the appetizers to arrive was noticable, but I won't complain about that. The appetizers were good especially the jerk shrimp skewers. The codfish fritters was good, but a little bit dry for my taste. For the entree I got the grilled lobster tail with mashed yams and sauteed veggies. My friend ordered the chicken and red velvet waffles. The food took very long to come I didn't time it but it was very noticeable I'll leave it at that. My lobster tail was over cooked, but decent. The mashed yams wasn't for me and I didn't try the veggies at that point. I tried the red velvet waffle and it was severely dissappointed. It wasn't crispy or tasty and tasted stale. The service was slow perhaps due to the large party that was there. It was our first time there and it was a special occasion to be celebrated for myself. I thought, the server could have more welcoming and polite such as a "thank you for your business", especially since the restaurant is new. I won't be back and I've had better experiences at Negril in Brooklyn that also serve carribean food I would recommend a restaurant like that over here until Bellyful improves. However I think this is a good spot for appetizers and drinks for now I'll give them that

Definitely has potential! 3.5 stars I wanted to give this place a try because it's in the neighborhood and I heard fairly good things about it. Upon walking into the restaurant it was a Sunday afternoon around 5 and we were the only ones. The male waiter that day was super cool. Definitely made up for the day. Great staff can really help an establishment. The staff was friendly . On to the food and drinks. We were told they were out of stuff because of an even yesterday. I hope moving forward they can better prepare. I ordered Jerk wings and told a few minutes later they were out. I got cajun instead. While it didn't have a cajun taste. They were good. We also got buffalo wings which were good as well. The Rum Punch was great. Had a kick but wasn't overpowering. For the entree we got oxtail reggae pasta and it just wasn't it. Didn't feel we got what we paid for at all. The plating was small and served in a bowl . Topped with 4/5 dry oxtail that weren't hot and didn't have the gravy. You get oxtails for the gravy. There was none. The pasta was blah. Needed more flavor. This place has potential but they need to work on the esthetic and the food. The decor seemed off. They had the bones, staff and a good space. I'll give them another try down the line to see if anything improved.

The food here taste so good and the staff is very polite, attentive and accommodating. It was a beautiful day so my friend and I decided to sit outdoors. I recommend getting sorrel drink & double shot of Wray & nephew; so good!!!!

Visited Bellyful recently for Saturday night dinner and I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. I like the decor here. It's simple, elegant, and inviting. Even the animal/snakeskin booth I liked. Different and will last longer that the other normal frequently used textile for booths. Anyway, on to the food. We had a ackee and saltfish w/ plantains to start with. I had a pineapple ginger drink which was quite refreshing. My HB had a rum punch, which he said was really good. We also got jerk wings for apps. Main dish-- Steam fish for HB. Brown Stew for me and it was delicious. Took some time to cool and to be served, but the DJ and music were entertaining while we waited. Our waitress was cool. We will definitely return. We're on search for a spot to call our own lol so we'll see.

I would never lie on an up and coming business

Contaminated food horrible service. This is one of the worst restaurants in Brooklyn. I order through their website (1mac and cheese, 2 ginger drinks 2 cheesecakes and a salmon dinner) only for them to tell me they dont deliver that far after i called them to check my order( meaning if i didnt call i would of never gotten my food and they wouldn't have called me lol , i had to send an uber so i can get my food. Finally got my food and they didnt give me any mac & cheese or a second drink, i was very upset but i said ok np, as i went to eat the cheese cake would you believe it had had mold on both slices ‍‍ what a nightmare. Keep it mind this isnt a cheap restaurant. Just another black owned business trying to take advantage of us.(and im black)

We treated our mom on Mother's day and the wait staff was very attentive and pleasant. The food and drinks was also delicious and there was a wide variety. I would recommend the pasta with curry goat, the oxtail and the wings.

Ive ordered from this restaurant before and decided to try in person. Came as indoor dining opened back up in NY. The atmosphere and service was impeccable. We had the Bedroom Bully, Margaritas and the Bahama Mama as drinks. They were a little on the strong side but still enjoyable. For food we tried the wings, Brown Stew Snapper and Dragon Shrimp. Everything was amazingg, very tasty and delicious. Would definitely recommend !!!!

Stopped in for lunch. My son has been telling me about this spot for quite some time. I guess it was worth the wait. Very good strong drinks. Not for the weak at heart if you don't like a real stiff drink. Tried the Codfish Fritters for starters. So flavorful and delicious. The food portions were great on the eye as well. Seasoned and delicious. Reminded my of moms cooking - took me back home My wife had the same thoughts when she tasted her food. Said "This reminds me of your mother's cooking ". Definitely a place to check out. I doubt you'll be disappointed. In my Terminator voice " I'll be back".

Talk to me nice when you talking to me about Bellyful. This caribbean spot is where its at in southern Brooklyn. Came here midweek for a birthday get together. They had a great happy hour special. Multiple caribbean drinks, and appetizers including jerk chicken wings, plantains and much more. The prices were fantastic, but check the menu for times and prices of the happy hour on the day you plan to visit. The bartender/waiter was a total joy for my group. He took care of all 10 of us, kept the music and the drinks flowing. Then it was time for dinner. The rasta pasta... HELL YEAH!! So much flavor, so much spice. My wife ordered it but it was too much food for her, I was happy becuase I got to enjoy so much more of it! I had the Oxtail and rice and peas. The meat was tender and juicy. I was very pleased with my meal(s) I definitely left with my belly full!

Their playlist is great so vibes were on point. We all shared the lemon drop cocktail tower. It was super cute, tasty, fun, and did what it had to do for us pre-day party. For food, I tried the bao fish tacos and the crab curry gyoza. Both of these items were good but for the amount that comes with them it's pricy (you get 2 small bao tacos and 4 pieces of gyoza, both of which are $20-22 each). I liked the bao tacos the most because of the mixture of flavors and textures, including the excellently friend fish. The gyoza was different. It wasn't bad but I think I'm just used to crispy/fried gyoza vs these which were boiled/soft. My friends really enjoyed the crab fried rice. The fried sweet plantains were just ok to me; The batch we got were dry and not that sweet.

But what stands out to me is: jerk chicken, mac and cheese, the lamb. Wait, my fave was the flatbread pizza with pasta and jerk chicken. My partner throughly enjoyed and raves about the oxtail. The mixed drinks were equally exceptional.
