I really wanted this to be better. I didn't love it. It also closed super early. The side with the bar has a locked door so hardly anyone was inside. They have Happy Hour, but if you can't get in the door, you'll go across the street or down the block to one of the many other bars on the block. The salmon I got tasted just okay - like it was a frozen piece salmon. I'll try it again and hope for better. However, my friend ordered arroz con pollo and barely touched it. This is my second time coming here and I can definitely say I should've came back sooner. The restaurant has a takeout section and dining hall and the dining hall looks really clean and kinda fancy. My garlicky pernil Mofongo (lightly-fried green plantain with pork mixed into a flat mountain form, topped, then surrounded by the sauce of your chooosing) into a arrived and I didn't even think about taking pictures! The portion is big enough for 2 people to share and the take home container fit my "extra" half perfectly. I peered over at my Love's food and nabbed 2 chicharrón de pollo con huesos (bone-in fried chicken chunks) drizzled with freshly-squeezed lemon juice. He graced me with a heaping spoonful of white rice and black beans. Flavorful chicken, from a women's who isn't the biggest chicken fan. Shout out to the chef. The food is consistently 4 to 5 stars. There are 2 dining rooms, and we opted for the very rear, which had music, a bar area, a stage, and a gender neutral restroom. Stumbled across this place by accident and it ended up being a great time. When you walk in there is a buffet set up and in the back you can sit down and eat it's a very large area spacious, clean and welcoming. We were able to sit wherever we wanted and we're handed iPads as menus. To drink we started with a Red sangria which was good and a White sangria which was made on the spot it was ok but not better than the red. I asked the bartender to make something he thought was good and he brought over a Coconut margarita with Don Julio reposado it was very good I definitely recommend. For starters I ordered the Tostones rellenos which were good the guacamole was fresh and shrimp were a great size, I ordered another one that ended coming out late so I took it home. For my entree I ordered the Broiled salmon which came with asparagus and I got yellow rice and black beans on the side so good! My friend got the Pollo relleno stuffed chicken breast with salmon and sweet, plantain and mushroom sauce and he got fried plantains on the side this was also a good dish excellent portion size. The home fries are delicious ! Flank steak is a tradition which was fine since it's thin and I don't eat steak often . It was well cooked . ( I asked for it med rare but oh well .. lol ) My friend had La Resaca traditional dish that included Salami, Egg, fried Dominican cheese and Mangu ( boiled and mashed green plantains with onions ) . I had my 60 bday there it's was just okay I was told I had to pay for people that didn't show up.My girl friend paid for her food and I charged for it a second time . I ordered red sangria, and it was batched. It wasn't full on body, not the best sangria I have had. Service was A1, i was treated very warmly on my visit. The menus are on digital iPads and this restaurant is a block away from the Barclays center so a great way to start the day by catching a drink or some grub before or after a game or event. They also have free parking across the street which is also nice. The restaurant is split into 3 levels the first being for take out orders, the second is for dine in and the third is a bar with a stage as some nights they also host live acts so you can watch a musical performance and have a drink or 2. Traveled from Queens a few months ago for some Yayo's! This restaurant has been around for years and it had been years since I had dined there. Guess what? They still got it! I don't who the artist was but she was singing beautifully and it just made the Roth at much better. Now, for the food. It was delicious Latin cuisine. We had mofonguitos (plantain goodness with shrimp), and calamari. It was very good. For entrees we had the skirt steak. Everything was so yummy and filling. The drinks were also so good! While waiting for my order to be prepared a gentlemen who had walked in and was looking at the food notified me of a roach, yes I said a roach, was literally crawling around way too close to the already prepared food. I saw it with my own 2 eyes and I told the server about it. By the time the server saw it it had crawled onto the paper towel holder. Sorry for the gross details but it looked pregnant so that in itself says enough. I had ordered through Grubhub so I contacted them to cancel my order. I Came here before a Nets game and it was pretty empty. The decor inside is pretty nice. On one side they have a take out area and then the other side is dine in. We had the beef empanadas, shrimp scampi with yellow rice and beans, chicken parmigiana with tostones. I highly recommend the chicken parmigiana and the empanadas! Unfortunately they don't have pasta as a side so I paired it with tostones. The tostones lacked salt and overall flavor. I'm the past when I've had tostones they are salted or there's a garlic sauce accompanied with it but what they gave me was moreso garlic in oil. Sadly I didn't enjoy it. The shrimp scampi was tasty and cooked perfectly. The food is definitely fresh. Everything we had came out piping hot! It's a pretty casual ambiance in my opinion , good for popping in before the game, solo date or even a good stop to grab a bite before you start your night out on the town.
