Best wet burrito in town. Bartender was very engaging and took responsibility for exchanging my beer order. Plus, full disclosure of cost of my food order on lunch menu. However, sitting at bar mid-afternoon to avoid dinner crowd, disturbing matter occured. Homeless guy was allowed to sit at bar and kept nodding out and making strange comments, e.g. racial, etc. Bartender said the guy was a former employee, so management was granting him deference on his behavior. Would have stayed for another drink, but to avoid potentially explosive situation, I left. Management should have removed the guy immediately, regardless of their prior relationship. read more

The waitress was excellent! Friendly and helpful. We ordered drinks but they were out of pineapple mixer. We ordered gluten free items but they were out of some things. The air conditioning was broken so it was hot in the building. The food was good, for three people the bill was about $120, which seemed a little expensive for the amount/quality. Today I couldn't pay over the phone Today the manager wouldn't honor a gift card and recommended not to use a company we(as a family) use every year. So much has changed and not for the good. If I could give 10 stars, I would. I called and spoke to the manager, Tammy. My request was with very short notice, to have a table for 10, to surprise my husband for his birthday. Tammy was so nice and assured me everything would be ready. This bar used to have great food. Visited this past Saturday with my wife and all i can say it's a filthy nasty has been. the booth leaned really bad and the food was just disgusting. Stale unsalted chips and salsa. I wanted mexican style taco's and asked the waiter if it had cilantro on them, and was told they don't have cilantro. Really? I thought it was a mexican place? When I think Grand Rapids, I don't think Mexican food but my in-laws brought us to the Beltline Bar. I have to say the food and service was good. Saudi was our server and she was very attentive. Disappointing and upsetting....The food quality has plummeted here. 30 years ago it may have been the "best burrito in Grand Rapids" but it's just above hog slop now. The staff we interacted with was friendly enough...but the food was terrible. Cold food, old food, overpriced food. Everything felt grungy and sticky. I think the owners have put exactly $0.00 into this place in the last 20 years...and what they haven't saved on lack of cleaning and updating they've saved on buying literally the worst quality ingredients around. Back in town and looking for a place to take my mom regularly and we used to love Beltline Bar. The service and food were decent enough but we won't be back because of all the nickel and dining. What is the 3% extra charge for? Just raise prices of food- although you already did that. I asked for extra sauce and they brought be salsa and charged me $1! And when we asked for chips and salsa- they said they would provide if asked then charged $3.50! I know it is tough w inflation but could use more transparency. read more

I have been going to the Beltline Bar for practically my entire life! This was one of my mom's favorite places to eat out, so we went often. I always get a Beef and Bean Wet Burrito. Not sure why I don't change it up and try something different, but they are so good I just can't even imagine anything else. Best wet burritos I have ever had...ever! They do have a great menu selection and offer everything exactly how you want it. They also have amazing margaritas, so don't be shy and order one up! Super yummy! One great memory of this place was back in 2011, we had a surprise 60th birthday party for my mom. The staff was all in on it and made it a very special occasion for her. If you come to Grand Rapids, you have to stop in and give it a try! So worth it!! read more

I've never left a one star review, but this place was a real disappointment. A group of us had dinner here around5:30pm. I joined the group 15 minutes later. The ladies I was joking had drinks, but many needed refills. The server repeatedly walked by the table after I had joined, but didn't greet me. After sitting for 30 minutes without anything to drink, I walked to the bar to order a glass of wine. The bartender told me he couldn't serve me if I had a table, but would let my waiter know. Another 10 minutes go by, and the bartender walks out to my table with a glass of wine. The wine was in a crusty tulip glass, which was gross, but after 40 minutes of waiting, I opted to just deal with it. Then we ordered our food, and the waiter kept saying how organized he is. Food came in and out in a timely manner. I ordered the Fresh Mex bowl ($13.50), and was incredibly disappointed when it was served in a cereal sized bowl. Almost $14 for this? It tasted fine, but was way overpriced for the portion. Time for the checks. Remember how "organized" our waiter claimed to be? Well, he couldn't remember who got what so the checks were off, but he also just threw all 12 bills onto a pile on the table, and let us auction them off. We paid, and he did the exact same thing with our cards - just threw them all in a pile on the table. I've waited tables for years, so I get it can be a tough gig, but this guy was awful. The food was subpar, and everything from the menus to the glasses seemed crusty and gross. No thanks - go somewhere else for more authentic Mexican food and better service. read more

My fiancé and I have ate here for years and it has definitely gone downhill. The last three times we have ate here my fiancé has asked for no veggies in his food and every time it still has veggies. So this time when we ate here and it had veggies AGAIN he decided to say something very very nicely mind you, our server seemed in a rush anyway and barely even answered our questions about the drinks (since there was no drink menu. But when he tells her "could I please have one with no veggies?" She huffs and walks away, then when she comes back I kid you not she literally yells at him "um I don't know what you are taking about that food has no veggies in it!!!! We just tore it apart back there and there's no veggies!!! " then my fiancé says "yes ma'am there was, we found them" she says "no there might have been one or two but there was no veggies!" What reason do we have to lie??? Anyway after she yells the manager brings out one without veggies and we were very grateful. But I will say we will not be back unfortunately, and we really used to love it here. I am a server myself and I would NEVER EVER in a million years speak to a customer like that. Well, brought the family back for a 2nd meal (2nd try) at Beltline. I kept an open mind after my first visit recently - which was a huge disappoint. Tonight was an improvement. Our group of 7 ordered the chicken chimi, chicken quesadilla, tex mex salad, chicken & bacon wet burrito, cobb salad with pork and loaded wet burrito. Plus, we ordered the quac as an appetizer. Here's our breakdown of the different items: Chicken Chimi: 4* Chicken Quesadilla 3.5* (kiddo was disappointed with the lack of cheese) tex mex sald: 4* loaded wet burrito: 4* Liked the diced jalapenos with the ground beef. Not sure the diced ham did much for me. Chicken Bacon Wet Burrito: 3.5* The guacamole was pretty good, too. We all enjoyed this tasty treat - minus the olives. 4* Our server was top notch tonight. She was pleasant and accommodated us with our "rush order" request. She was on top of things and excellent in every regard. She is a 5* team member. The manager made the rounds a couple times checking in with customers. I usually don't like too much interruption from restaurant staff, but he was professional and didn't stay long at all. Quesadilla, chicken and steak fajitas, and a deluxewet burrito. Everything was perfect, came with lots of sides and condiments. Our server was very nice and They had a good drink menu.
