Lisa in the office was very good communicator with us throughout the whole move. We had to change the date and sign a new contract and she was first-rate service in working with Jason to get it all done fast and accurate. Our adjustor approved our claim after a few phone calls what happened in the move, but as our adjustor told us, she said it wasn't broken before it got on the truck -- I approve your claim. So the check is forthcoming. Going ahead, all in all, the move was OK -- the NJ crew should of wrapped items and furniture better in those blankets so they didn't break/damage. We are not missing anything as we go through boxes and that is a blessing. I have heard stories of people not getting all their items with other moving companies! Multitude of issues. The estimator was pleasant. He did not go into the garage to complete his estimate because it was raining and he didn't want to get wet. They came to pick up our goods. The lead person insisted a lot of our belongings were not on the manifest. They were. I had to show him each one. So, it took 8 hours to load the truck. Our goods went into storage at their facility. We thought it was indoor storage. We were pretty surprised when many of the boxes, as well as other items, that were delivered were damaged, had been wet and then dried, were stuffed with dried leaves, etc. What a mess. Every table we had was banged up, crushed in spots. This was the worst move. Our claims were cheerfully denied as the person who reviewed our claims said there was no evidence of damage. I emailed her the exception list that had been signed by the driver. Their repair man did a lousy job. The leaf from my dining room table had become detached. (Did they step on it???) The repair man glued it but it didn't line up with the table any longer. No fear. The glue did not hold and now it is loose again. We would have gone to court for the unresolved issues but Covid struck. Lisa was very nice but SHE DIDN'T MOVE US! Stay far away. read more

If I can give this company negative stars I would. I never write reviews but let's just say DO NOT trust Beltmann/North American with anything. Run far away from this company. North American Van Lines packed and moved our house on Aug 5 from NY to Colorado. We had Aug 14 as the latest delivery date. As of today, our shipment is still not delivered. We aren't expected to take delivery until Sept 3! I don't know if I even believe that will happen or what condition are stuff will be in if it ever arrives. $100/day for the delay is not nearly enough to compensate someone for the extra costs and emotional toll this takes on a family. Their lame excuse is that there aren't enough drivers. Maybe that should be disclosed when booking. Or maybe there should be exceptions to the contract for these extreme situations. Do not hire this company. They damaged my personal property. Banged into walls while carrying my property. Brought a delivery truck that was too big and as a result hit part of the apartment building while exiting the complex, a hit and run as they didn't stop to report the accident. Broke a ceiling fan light while carrying furniture in my apartment and didn't tell me, instead tried to cover it up. One of the movers asked if I could drive him around on errands during the move. There are a lot of scams out there when you are moving, North American Van Lines and Beltmann in particular certainly are not one of them. From the sales person (Jason), to the move coordinator (Lisa), to the unbelievably detailed packing and loading team, they made our out of state move painless. Everything was packed with care and made it without any damage, and not once did they try to charge me more than the quote. Everyone was professional, on time, and communicated every step of the way. You even get a detailed manifest of what they packed so you can make sure everything made it to your new home. Moving out of state is stressful enough but after hearing horror stories from people using other movers I could not recommend them more. read more

We would like to say thank you to North American/Beltmann group for assisting us in our move from Pennsylvania to Oregon. They have done a superb job. We especially appreciated Jason Rebels, Beltmann's rep, for coming so quickly all the way out to our isolated PA home. He was the only one willing among 3 shippers to make the trip to the mountains! The other 2 asked for "pictures" for a quote. Jason was very thorough in making an inventory and later never had a problem recalling items about which we had a question or wanted to add or delete! We got quotes from the other 2 shippers and, indeed Beltmann's estimate was competitive. Communications with Jason were excellent via phone, text and email - something very important to us. Given the unknown travel restrictions with the corona virus, we were especially appreciative that North American was able to advance significantly the pick up date. North American has moved us internationally for business 6 times and now a 7th for a private intra-America move. We are very happy to be working with them and most satisfied with their service and especially with Jason Rebels' of their Beltmann group. read more

We contracted with Beltmann as they were associated with North American Van Lines and we were careful to work with a reputable company. We hired them to pick up and store our goods for several months in their NJ warehouse and deliver once we settled on a home in MA. They delivered goods last week with several of our antiques broken which I will be completing claims. The major issue was that while we were sold a moving package that included storage in their warehouse and monthly storage in that same warehouse the movers who made both the pickup and delivery let us know that the goods never left the trailer. They simply stored it that way on their lot. This is not what was sold or contracted. Their offer was to credit about $500 to cover what was quoted to move in and out of storage. I never would have contracted with a company to store our good in a trailer parked in a lot for months. The sales person sold a package that included the goods being offloaded and stored in their warehouse and later reloaded on a truck for delivery. Of course Mark has been MIA since this occurred. No return call no return email. The move also was not without issues. Beltmann was aware Over a month before the delivery that a shuttle wLuke be required for delivery. The day prior to delivery I was informed they were having an issue renting one. They did get one but it was late which caused delivery to continue through the dark which was difficult. It also caused our ladder to be left on the truck. I discovered this after searching for a week and requesting they check with the delivery team. That was finally delivered today. To add to the situation, I contacted N.A Van Lines and their follow up has been terrible. Steer clear of this group if you care about your goods being handled properly. read more

DO not use this company! They do not stand behind what you contract with them for and do not care at all about providing any level of customer service and will lie to you every step of the way. We used them to move from NY to South Carolina and it was a nightmare. First they did not move us out on the date that we contracted for and really did not care about the huge inconvenience this would be. Jason Rebels who was supposed to be our rep did nothing to help us or make us feel any better. He actually made the situation so much worse by being so rude and unsympathetic. I will spare the laundry list of items that went wrong but the worst was when we did finally get our items in SC nearly every box that came off the truck was damaged. Countless items that were cherished were broken and furniture destroyed. The crew that unloaded the truck in SC said it "looked like the items were thrown onto the truck". Every step of the way I was in touch with James Essex, the GM who told me this was "unacceptable" and that I would be compensated beyond just the claims on the broken items. He kept saying things like "I will have to wait for the claims part to be completed and once that's done I can move forward with anything additional". Always implying that I would compensated for their complete failure in providing a service I had contracted for. But then after emailing him every week to no response I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Jodi Emery who told me that I would not get anything additional. That James did not promise to compensate me which is a lie. That really they did nothing wrong because my items still arrived in the window that they promised. If you care about your belongings and want to have a move that is in line with everything that you contracted for and spent a lot of money on DO NOT USE BELTMANN GROUP! They will completely defraud you and then make it seem like it is your fault. Beware bait and switch!! Stay away from this company. I needed help moving my daughter's furniture to her new apartment in Chicago. Ive done this same thing without incident a number of times- small load goeS on a truck headed in same direction. Fast response, nice man visited and looked and gave me a quote with dates that worked. Days passed. Three business days before pickup date (too late to find another to make move-in) they wanted to charge me additional $700 for an unnecessary shuttle, despite the fact that pickup is on main avenue and local police double confirmed truck access. Police even offered to direct traffic if necessary. Police told company that trucks here are routine and have made it here even in snow. Driver just wanted more money for a small load. They didnt seem to care they were leaving me in a bind. Stay away from this company. There are better ones who won't do this to you. Wish I had known. read more

Beltmann moved me from NJ to Northern VA in June 2015 and my crew, lead by Walter, could not have done a better job. We are almost finished unpacking, and everything arrived safely. I knew, however, that I wouldn't have any problems when I saw how careful the whole crew was with all of my furniture and boxes. No tossing things around- they treated the boxes like they were their own. After reading lots of horror stories online, I was so relieved to know I had picked the right movers. The guys were all great. They really know there stuff. As soon as they arrived at my house and I watched them get to work, I knew I was in good hands. Some of the hardest workers I have ever met. They came when they said they would come, worked quickly and efficiently, and delivered in Virginia the next day. And they charged me exactly what they said they would, which was far cheaper than some other quotes I got. The other impressive thing- when Todd came to give me my quite, he walked around my house with his iPad taking down information. I knew the price before he left my house. Very convenient and it made making my decision quicker and easier. read more

This was our first time using a so called "well known" moving company. It was the worst experience ever!!! The salesman Mark Eschbacher seemed like he cared about our cross country move being that he would be making a nice commission...the day of the move was a disaster and he was nowhere to be found! Took him forever to even return my pleading voicemail messages for help the day of and even the day after the move. The Beltmann Group representatives lied from day one and through the entire move. The day of our move the so called professional movers show up...unmarked container truck, totally unprofessional and unsupervised while the lead mover leaves with 30 minutes of arrival and is gone for 4 hours!!! We had a full house and storage unit that needed to be packed up and on the moving van that day...besides the fact, they gave a ridiculous late window to arrive at 11am and were 45 mins late! They damaged wood floors in two of our rooms, dropped boxes, took a long lunch break and half the time the movers were on personal calls on their cell phones! My son, husband and myself actually had to start wrapping furniture and load the truck to just get the house packed up (total load time was 12 hours and we had a very small house) and the storage unit didn't get loaded until the next day which forced us the cancel and rebook hotels across the country!!! All the while, the lead mover cops an attitude!!! I don't have enough time to continue this awful experience...but, the General manager of Beltmann Group equally could care less about our issues and all the stress they caused me and our family! Then on top of it..the lies continued on arrival time to our new residence...no surprise they didn't meet the arrival window and it actually took over 2 weeks for delivery...insult to injury...they lied again saying the truck was in Illinois when they couldn't find a driver and they put the container truck will now be coming via rail!!!!! The salesman Mark Eschbacher even had the nerve to tell me during our first meeting it was going to be driven by a husband and wife team crosscountry! DO NOT USE!!!! I used Beltmann from NJ to Florida and had a horrid experience with this company. They promised many things similar to other movers but they came through with none of those promises. They lost / damaged or stole more than $10,000.00 worth of fine furniture and household effects. They structured, scheduled and orchestrated the move in such a way that there was no appeal to either the courts, the regulator or the banking system for the damage they did.They knew this and played on it repeatedly. All seniors and all Florida bound moves should avoid Beltmann of Newark in particular and North American movers in general. Expect further regulatory complaints against them. Senior groups around the southeast should focus on the widespread problem of movers taking advantage of seniors and then using a legal loophole to escape responsibility. Regulators should realize the huge gap in interstate moving law that allows con artists like Beltmann North America of 158 Mt Olivet Avenue, ewark, NJ, to get away with grand larceny and then smirk about it in open court. The judges and lawyers should be ashamed of these practices. This loophole called the "Carmack Amendment" to the Interstate Commerce Law allows Beltmann and other con artists like them to destroy, steal or lose up to $25,000.00 worth of goods / furnishings without any recourse or penalty. read more

Beltmann was super easy to deal with to set up my cross-country move...at least initially. The pick up was easy. Waited the 4 weeks for my stuff to show up. When they delivered they put the large pieces of furniture where they were supposed to go and then stacked all of the boxes and bags in the spare bedroom and garage. All except my TV and surf bag with my wetsuit, etc. in it. Now they're fighting tooth and nail to not replace the TV, even going so far as to deny there was a TV in the first place. So yeah, lesson learned. Pick another moving company next time. read more

I have moved 3 times to 3 different states in the last 6 years and just recently used Beltmann Relocation to move from a rental house to a house I bought only 8 miles apart from each other. My "local" move with Beltmann was by far the WORST move I have ever experienced. The moving team could not have cared less about any of my belongings. Even though they were kept hydrated and fed (as well as given individual tips upon completion) they offered nothing more to me/my family than apathy and attitude. They decided that they couldn't fit a king size headboard into my basement and due to the weight was left outside in the rain and ruined. The left huge scratches in recently redone hardwood floors of a 100-year-old house. They threw (literally) boxes of dishes, expensive sewing machines, pottery/art, stemware into our basement breaking many items. Due to the amount of stuff put in our basement without asking us, it will take us some time to uncover everything that was damaged. They ripped the material (cannot be repaired) of a one-of-a-kind chair and tried to hide it by facing it towards the wall and placing a box on top of it. They left my old house before doing a walkthrough with us leaving numerous boxes and pieces of furniture, which required us to rent another truck and move these items ourselves. They even made some not so nice comments about me/my family in Spanish not knowing we understood what they said. I, of course, called to complain and tried to work out a fair solution without having to file a damage claim with them (which is currently estimated at more than twice the cost of the move), but that was a useless conversation. I was still billed $400+ more than the "firm" estimate I was provided and they charged me for packing and materials when they packed NOTHING. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you care about your property. Beltmann moved us from New York's Hudson Valley all the way to Riverside, CA. The two-man crew that came to the house couldn't have been nicer. They tackled one particularly difficult moving task (an antique armoire and a spiral staircase) with grit and determination, and it's here with us now. We did almost all of our own packing, so I can't comment on that other than to say everything arrived in good shape and nothing was broken. At the other end, the affiliate guys who brought our stuff were also polite, knowledgeable, and careful. Even when I called the main office in the midwest, they hooked me up directly to the folks in New Jersey that moved us and we never had to wait long to get an answer to a question. The Beltmann Group was contracted through North American Van Lines to move us from NJ to FL. What we were sold was a 53' trailer coming to our house and the driver being the one who would handle our move all the way through FL without off loading our entire home of belongings. What we got was 3 subcontracted men in rental trucks who packed the trucks and off loaded at the warehouse in Newark. Beltmann then proceeded to only move part of our belongings. The rest would ultimately sit on a dock for 10 days and be delivered 20 days later, we then learned that there was a major theft. Since we notified Beltmann, they have been unwilling to help resolve the issue or provide us with the names of the men who were in our house because NAVL has advised us to have them arrested. They continue to avoid answering our calls and when they do answer, no progress is made with our situation. During a time of great stress with a 1700 mile move, the last thing a family needs is to be taken advantage of and the Beltmann Group has taken full advantage of every loop hole even going so far as to push the blame to the subcontractors that were in the house. read more

The most horrendous of 15 moves made in my lifetime. Never have my possessions been treated so poorly and damaged beyond repair. I had purchased full coverage insurance, and SIRVA.com refuses to cover any claims. Avoid using North American Moving Services and Allied Van Lines (same company). SIRVA the claims agent is arrogant and unapologetic for any damages, and its sole purpose is to avoid paying bona fide claims. Also very shady business practice as they are now charging me the full price for the move on my credit card when it was supposed to be COD. This company provided me with the single worst experience I ever had to pay for. They were unresponsive to our requests for documentation and questions leading up to the move. They did not care about our personal property, tried to stay past 9:00pm to get a 3 day job done in 2 days even though we have 3 small children, and were rude after we asked them to leave at 9:00 so we could put our kids to bed. They did not show up to pack before 11:30AM, one time arriving at 1:30PM, on any of the 3 days they were at my house and tried to stay past 6:00PM each day. They tried to tell us that they could not pack certain items because they "ran out of boxes" even though there were several piles of them on the truck. Luckily I had extra boxes from some of the items I packed myself. The sales rep was of no use after we signed the contract and his supervisor was equally uncaring. There was no sense of customer care and no one really seemed interested in our concerns regarding how they packed us up. When we unpacked the boxes, many were not properly labeled or labeled "misc.". Shoes that were next to each other in pairs at my house were wrapped with different shoes, none equaling a pair. Items that were meant to be packed together were unmarked and separated so I am still unable to find the brackets to my TV mounts even though I purposely left the hardware sitting on top of the actual wall plate. For some reason they thought it would be helpful to pack the brackets separately and I still have not found them. They also showed up 3 days late with the delivery. This company was terrible from start to finish and could not more vehemently recommend that they not be used. I even filed a complaint with the better business bureau. read more
