I emailed them after 8pm and received a text response 8 MINUTES LATER! I was blown away by their responsiveness. They had availability to come out quickly the next afternoon. I had Big G do Part 1 of my two-part move. Steve, the foreman, and his team arrived on time, on a Sunday and at a later hour that I could live with. I didn't want to to exceed the three-hour minimum, and they worked to keep it within that time. They were friendly, careful, and did a great job. They didn't need to use their truck, since we were moving just across the driveway, which is why it was so short. A small piece of mica came off a piece of furniture, but they let me know about it and told me that it can be easily glued back on, so it wasn't a big deal. I recently hired Big G Movers (3 guys & 26' truck) to move from a 2 bedroom apt in North Bergen to a 4 bed townhouse in Marlboro. Was quoted a rate for 6 hours, with every additional half hour at $98. Overall job took 8+ hours. At start of the movie, Steve estimated that loading the truck would take about 2 hours... turned out to be more like 4.5 at the least; hallway was apparently too long. Of the 3 guys, Manny was a thorough professional - ensured all electronics, glasses, paintings, etc. were padded correctly prior to being saran wrapped. He did most of the heavy lifting, with Steve packing and limited to non-heavy items. Eddie stayed loading the truck from what Manny and Steve dropped off at the elevator. Understanding that I was over the 6 hour estimate and paying an additional rate, Manny and Eddie were understanding and quickly unloaded everything at the townhouse. Hardly took any breaks to wrap up unloading in under 2 hours! Would like to specially call out Manny - was an absolute beast in packing, loading and unloading. Was very courteous, professional and a quick mover. For you guys hiring movers, I'll recommend being very, very explicit on the items, logistics of your move to ensure your quote is completely and well understood. Traci and Gary are very good at detailing instructions and are very communicative, so the better you provide details and negotiate prior to the move, the better handle you'll have on how much it will cost you. Used this company for my moms move from A home to an apartment and would recommend. There was a custom bedroom set that requires disassembly to move it and then re-assembly in the new place which was a 2 man job with heavy pieces of furniture. This definitely took some more time to do this but was appreciative they offered the service. The 3 man team assigned was efficient and careful in the move process and even Gary the owner stopped by to see the progress. They came with a very big truck and we had a lot of boxes. They did a good job but it was a full days work and we went over the fixed price for the 4 hour minimum - the entire process went from 10am to 5pm (if we didn't jump in to help it would have been another 2-3 hours). Gary was very responsive over text to schedule it all and only reason I am giving 4 stars not 5 is that I would have preferred to pay one price for the whole service vs 30min increments after the first 4 hours but I understand that is their business model. read more

I'm not happy. I will never hire a mover charging per hour. They were slow and have a lot of prepared answers to every question. Whenever I say " Why don't you ...." the answer was always "We're doing it for years and....". They don't know how to assemble an IKAE loft bed. They disassembled my son's IKEA bed without a power screwdriver. One guy was trying to figure out how to assemblable the bed he dissembled one hour ago. The other two were just waiting. I asked them to left it disassembled. I didn't want to pay for another hour to assemble the bed. Gray cut off 20 minutes but I believe I paid $200 more. Incredible experience from beginning to end! We were having our hardwood floors redone & called Big G to move our furniture (we have 2 very large heavy pieces). Gary gave us quote, it seemed reasonable & he was very accommodating with dates. He checked the night before to confirm date & give us an approximate time & said I would get a 1/2 hour notice when they were on there way. Three guys came & moved everything seamlessly! I first contacted Gary from Big G Movers back in March 2019. I was planning my house contents move from Union to Metuchen but since I just listed, it was too soon to book an exact date for the final move. Gary reassured me that they would be able to handle all of the items I needed moved, and when I called back in mid May, he remembered me! He told me June is a very busy month, but he did accommodate me and I was all moved 1 week before the closing date. The crew of 4 men he sent were great! They arrived on time and were very professional and friendly. I had 2 major concerns - my China closet and a very heavy piece of furniture. I am happy to report that all survived the move without damage! The packup in Union took about 2.25 hrs and the entire process took 3.75 hrs (which was 45 min beyond the 3 hr quote I received when I booked). Nobody likes to move and I had been dreading today. Not only had to move my entire home but my husband's business. Thousands of collectible comics and they didn't blink an eye. They made it painless. The crew, along with the owner Gary, were so warm and friendly. The never stopped once and there were young workers (six in all) who you would expect to be going out for a smoke or be on their phones. Never happened. They worked tirelessly. And moved hundreds of boxes all in one day. Gary was so easy to work with and always got back to me right away. Very professional and pleasant to deal with. After I searched around for movers I found Big G on yelp and notice the raving reviews. I booked them solely based on the reviews. On moving day, the guys were on time and started off immediately. They were all professional, curteous and helpful, they explained everything that was going to happen in detail so I knew how they're going to be doing all the loading and unloading. They loaded the truck pretty efficiently and then unloaded at my new place quickly as well. No one deliberately dragged their feet or cut corners. They did a terrific job. Super easy to work with when scheduling, but gosh, we are so disappointed that we continue to find damaged items as we unpack over time. Two of the four guys who packed us were so friendly and nice, like cousins who came to help out rather than guys hired to do a job. One guy was distant, but nice, the last guy never had any interaction beyond the initial greeting. Gary did give us a partial refund, which made things better, but it definitely doesn't completely replace or fix everything that had damage. I didn't press for more because I got an impression that the interaction would end poorly if I did. Plus, we still cannot find one box with some fairly important items. While we weren't able to make the move work this time, I would absolutely recommend Big G Movers simply due to how superb their customer service is. I am moving relatively last minute (due to some logistical stuff with apartments) and have spoken to so many companies today, most have been pretty dismissive due to the date I need. Traci at Big G was BY AND FAR the most pleasant person I spoke to the entire day. Not only did she work up a quote for me quickly, she took the time to explain why the prices were what they were and everything their pricing includes (which is pretty great by the way.) You can tell they truly care about their customers and prospective customers, and even me after I told Traci I was not going to be able to make the date work. She did not miss a beat and wished me the best of luck on my move anyway. The only reason I couldn't make it work with them this time was because I found someone that would do the move the date I wanted (Big G was booked - understandably.) So to today was finally moving day. Big G's crew had moved us out of our house about five weeks ago into two storage units, and today we got moved out storage into our house. Both times the crew he sent was beyond stellar. A crew of nine guys showed up both times, and showed up exactly at the time that was given. The movers were professional and well prepared. My one request was for them to get my couch into my new home - the doorway was very small - not the standard sized door. I told the company I had to decide between buying a new, smaller couch to fit through the door - or to hire movers that could make sure the couch got in securely. They delivered on their word!
