Ben and Bill's is cleverly hidden inside of a grocery store so at first, I thought that I was in the wrong place. Glad I went inside to see for myself. Anyhow, I had the roast beef and cheese on rye w Russian dressing while my wife had the pastrami on rye w mustard. Her sandwich was the clear winner and it wasn't even close. I used to patronize them when they were located in the Price Chopper in Saratoga Springs. Originally from Queens, NY and employed in Manhattan, Hot Pastrami/Corned Beef on Rye, potato knish, coleslaw wete a weekly meal for me. Great sammies but service is a real struggle in there. Be patient. It's gon'take a while for someone to strum up the motivation to make your sandwich. Nice of sammie is pretty large which allows you to share one if you wanted. read more

Authentic Jewish deli specials. Love their corn beef and pastrami. Excellent seeded rye and the best half sour pickles. Located inside a Price Chopper (not Market 32) which takes away from the "ambiance" of a busy Jewish deli. But, the food does not suffer. read more

What is the deal with the Capital District and half-sours? Ben & Bill's is fine. It promises to be "The Best Deli between New York City and Montreal". Maybe that's true. But that would be sad. I think ultimately Gershon's is better by a hair. I liked the Gershon's Pastrami better. But Ben & Bills has better bread. The critical flaw was that all the bread was not covered with meat. Could you imagine going to the Carnegie deli? And getting a sandwich where there were several bites of just plain bread? Sacrilege. But it's hot pastrami and hot corned beef and full size slices of rye bread. And that is always a tasty treat. read more

This is the place to go for a pastrami sandwich. I was disappointed last time -- but only because I bought ONE sandwich and split it with my wife. Regret. I'd like to see them spend a little more time keeping the dining area clean -- wipe the tables and pick up the trash, please -- and improving the customer service, but hey, it ain't Wegmans. read more

First, it's important to know this is a supermarket deli counter. Just to get your expectations straight The food was decent. I got a pastrami on rye with mustard. The pastrami was very good and moist, not to fatty. The rye was ok, a bit dry. No mustard came with it. I had to use small mustard packets which was a bit annoying. My daughter got a turkey sandwich where we specifically were asked and requested Mayo. But again it was dry and we had to use the packets. Maybe it's a Covid thing with the packets She complained that the turkey was very dry. Overall it was just ok. read more

I would likely have given Ben & Bill's 5 stars rather than 4 if it was not in a Price Chopper. I looses a star because the atmosphere just isn't there. The food is good and they have some of the key items that I look for in deli fare - must have tongue, great pickles, good rye bread, Dr. Brown's, whitefish and belly lox. A little NYC attitude from behind the counter is a plus (if you expect it and are in the mood for that type of banter). Gershons wins for atmosphere but B&B has the goods I am after. Both ended up with 4 stars from me for different reasons. An added plus is the ability to use your Price Chopper card for your purchases at B&B to get gas credit! read more

Best roast beef sandwich in the area! Chips were good but skimpy sized bag. And they were out of cheesecake. OUT OF CHEESECAKE. The counter guy recommended the cherry cheese strudel, which, they assured me, would be better than a bakery apple fritter. I would say, equal but different, but not better. Can't say enough good things about this deli. This is one of the few places I will get sandwiches. They serve up VERY generous amounts of meat on all the classic deli sandwiches and even some of their own unique creations. I worked with a bunch of doctors that commuted from NYC, a place that knows deli, and they said this is hands down the best deli they've ever had. That's saying something. All their ingredients are fresh, the stuff is always helpful and courteous, and the food is delicious. I never have complaints about this place. And did I mention their rye bread is to die for? I never thought I would see this here, especially having lived in the Twin Cities for the last 22 years. Talk about double your pleasure, a chic supermarket AND the old Joe's deli recipes resurrected. That counts as heaven to me. I had a coupon for some triple decker and you could only get roast beef. That's all I'd get there anyway. Perfectly sliced RB on my favorite rye bread in the world. You don't get a sandwich like this in MN. However, I never thought I'd have it again after Joe's closed for good in the 80's. The same old signature Russian dressing, that I cant' drown it enough in. Shredded lettuce, and decent very thin sliced tomato. They add this horseradish which totally ruins the effect of this nostalgic sandwich. The salads and desserts looked lucious. The other coupon was for a pastrami sandwich, which was considerably thinner. I never dreamed I'd give kudos to a PC, but I am happily wrong. Yes, it's in a strip mall. Yes, it's in a supermarket in a strip mall. Yes, it's in the burbs. Is it good? YES! This place was created as an homage to the great delis of our collective pasts and they did it well!!! Oh boy is it good. Classic sandwiches made with great ingredients by real deli guys and gals. All the traditional sides like whitefish salad, great chopped liver, whole sable, and multiple styles of pickels. Did I mention breakfast!? They make a corned beef hash like you read about! Dont worry about the meat to bread ratio there is more than enough but not too much. Oh, the bread! The rye is sought after by friends as far away as Montreal and Burlington over bread from NYC or Boston. We drive over from Western Mass. a few times a year, to stock up on our favorites: matzah ball soup, brisket, latkes, creamed herring, whitefish salad, apple strudel, and whatever else looks especially good on the day we're there. Benan bills is a great sandwich. A little pricey a $10 but enough for two meals. The people behind the counter are not very educated with there own menu. But if you know how to read a menu. You will be fine. My best friend has trouble reading menus so we had an issue. But the sandwiches are delicious and the ride bread rocks. read more

If this is the best deli between NY and Montreal then keep on driving to one of those cities. Ordered the Chicken Salad with Lettuce and Tomato on an Onion Roll served with a crisp pickle and Signature potato chips. The chicken salad was very runny, and dripped all over the place. There was no lettuce or tomato, and the onion "roll" was not a roll at all but one of Price Choppers onion pockets. The pickle was crisp, but I didn't taste any difference between it and a raw cucumber. The Signature chips were the best part of the meal, but they were mediocre at best.
