I've Visited the Uniondale location before but not Valley Stream until recently. Staff was nice. Restaurant was nice. Regular table seating is separated from the bar and hightop seating. (Right from the main entrance for one or left for the other.) Their garlic noodles are amazing. So is their catfish and gumbo. Everything was good but don't like that not all locations carry the same items. Valley Stream doesn't offer the shrimp tempura appetizer that Uniondale does. Had a mango margarita but tasted no mango. Tried the rum punch and it was sweet and packed a punch. They had a live band and the crowd it drew seemed older, like late 50s and 60s. The band was on the bar side but more than loud enough to hear on the table side. A little too loud, I'd say. They have off street parking but it's not a lot. 1 handicap space and maybe 8 regular. (I didn't count exactly but would be surprised if it were 10 spaces.) There is also metered street parking and another lot that isn't there's but I'm not sure the accessibility or pay option for that. read more

Came here about two weeks ago on a Saturday night with my significant other and my parents because I was craving seafood . Let's start by saying , this place is a vibe ! They had a DJ who was mixing between old school and new school but definitely old school music. The crowd gives, 40s-50s vibe . Everybody vibing , dancing and chilling - doing electric slide , Cupid shuffle and etc . Nobody wasn't bothering nobody . The drinks (from my parent's and significant others POV ) were good . I got myself a lemonade because I wasn't trying to mix no alcohol with seafood . As far as the seafood boil goes, we got a mix between old bay and garlic butter seasoning and for spice level , we got medium because we thought anything above that would be too hot . Medium didn't even have a kick of spice . It tasted really bland like the seafood was just dipped in butter sauce . Wasn't really nothing to die for honestly . Also the boil doesn't come with noodles or nothing which is fine but so understand, you'll probably be hungry again in about 30mins since it wasn't filling . All in all , our bill came up to almost $400 between 5 drinks , a beer , a lemonade and 4 boils (each boils is about $35-$40). $40tip was already included in the bill as well. My parents really enjoyed their selves and we stayed until almost closing . They want to return but I told them to wait till the weather warms up a bit because I feel like this place is going to be booming in the spring/summer . read more

Very good spot, there food is fresh and clean. Gumbo is the bomb and seafood steam is perfect. There 90 r and b is lit on Friday and they give complimentary shots. Had several dinners here and also celebrated my birthday with a large group of friends. The times that I have been here with parties of 6 and under things were generally great ... however when having a larger party of 20+ the recommended server we wanted wasn't available that day "tall black guy with a very pleasant attitude" instead we got a young lady who I suppose "wasn't in the mood that day" and she was a lil rude to couple of my guest including my bestfriend (awkward, cause she was the one paying for everything ) my bestfriend celebrated her birthday there a month before so again with frequenting the food here I would rate the food I had 8 out of 10, it's seafood in the steam bags style and or fried and so far everything I've gotten has been great except the shrimp pasta (I do not recommend) I do however recommend the fried lobster, the Dungeness or Snow crab, the mussels, the salmon and the COCKTAILS ... on the weekend they have a DJ and it seriously adds a great vibe to the atmosphere he spins a lot of 90s and early 2000s music and it's a pretty good vibe read more

Didn't know this place existed until I was researching somewhere different to celebrate my brother's birthday. Boy, was I glad we went. The food was delicious, well-seasoned and plentiful. We were only able to have appetizers this time - fried calamari, fried catfish basket, soft shell crab basket, char broiled oysters, and the gumbo - as we always order too much and have to take home the entrees. The music was jamming. The place was full - could not believe the traffic coming and going on a Wednesday night. We definitely plan to go back - this time on a Friday night. Loved it! read more

I really like Ben's Crab I come here often on Sunday afternoons for the food company and of course the music with Kirk Bailey and the next level band. They are Awesome!!! Go and check them out. This is for 40,50+ crowd!! The food at Ben's will not disappoint. We have had their soup, fried shrimp, catfish, wings and the snow crab and lobster tail broil. Everything is always fresh and well seasoned. The bartender I forgot her name but she makes great drinks. I've gone up to her to let her know how much I've enjoyed my drinks! Usually 2 is my limit due to driving but if my husband is there then a third is in order The staff are all pleasant and they are constantly cleaning and clearing your table I like that and it's not that they are rushing you no no no it's makes for a nice neat table and room for more. Last year I came here for the first time and had the gumbo it was actually good. More recently it seems the cooks have changed bc it was not the same it was very soupy and none of the vegetables were cooked raw onion, garlic, and okra. Ive never had chewy Okra before so I know it wasn't cooked. They didn't even brown the sausage and it was obvious a roux wasn't part of the process making it. And worst of all it seems they wiped down the utensils w a sour rag or maybe the "soup" was mildewed itself. Not authentic cajun or creole food its an asian joint. Bugs were flying everywhere all types horseflies, gnats and one landed and died right on my straw. This was by far the best visit in Valley stream. I order Crab leg, lobster and crawfish with old bay seasoning. This sauce was soooo salty. Spoke to my waitress Milly and she went back added some garlic sauce to simmer down the saltiness which it did but still salty. She was a great waitress it's also another one named Erim who was also a great team player. My man kept bothering her and she listened to him and still served without a issue. This Ben's location taste better than all of the others I've been too, hope it's not just because it's a new location. The only problem I had was that the server came to check on us maybe once (maybe short staffed) ... We got our drinks after the entrees came out, and we asked for crab crackers and didn't get any. When she came to check on us the second time she was sort of pushy to get us out. Waited 15 mins to get our bill. She was nice but maybe overwhelmed. read more

The food is too overpriced and the staff likes to hover over you while you eat, which made me uncomfortable and gives me the impression they want to make sure you don't steal anything, even though it was my first time going there. The seasoning of the seafood was below average. The only thing I liked were the drinks. The portion size was small for the price of the food. I'd rather go to Voodoo Crab than come here. Looks really nice inside, but the hostess was very rude and the food was gross. We ordered oysters and only ate 1 each, werent fresh at all. The Calamari was good. Neither of us got a boil so can't speak on that, but we got lobster Mac n cheese and a shrimp and pasta dish. Not much flavor at all, neither of us finished. Would not go back. read more

Great seafood spot i usually take out but the food that I do take out is delicious. Specially, the seafood boil and the fried calamari.

My co-worker and I. Had a craving for some good fresh seafood. Well we got seafood. It just wasn't fresh and it sure wasn't good. We had expectations of seafood from City Island or from Bigelows in Rockville Centre. Never again. I'll travel farther then to ever eat frozen calamari and frozen unflavored shrimp. read more
