5 Stars I recently had my plaster pool's main drain cover replaced by Ben and had a great experience. After the initial install, I noticed the suction wasn't quite right. When I texted Ben to let him know, he came right back out to troubleshoot. It turned out some debris from the old cover had moved into the equalizer line. He cleared the line and got the circulation back to 100%--all without any extra charge or hassle. It's rare to find someone so honest and dedicated to making sure the job is done right. It's been a number of years ago, but I will never forget this gentleman. I had two previous leak detection companies out to try to find the leak on my swimming pool, but all I got was hefty bills for them checking and they found nothing. stay away from this company. They take your money. and do not honor repairs. Ben came to our home and put a patch on the pool and told us to call him if we still had a problem. he never answers your calls. 3 weeks later after multiple calls from my husband and myself. he came by and put another patch on the pool and collected another large fee. He told us he would come back free of charge if the problem still persists. Not responsive. Ben returned my call the first time. The second time around, I tried to schedule an appointment with him for 9/6/16 and he texted, "I'm somewhere I can't answer phone right now. I saw that you called. It would have to be afternoon, morning is already booked." I followed up with him 9/6/16 by phone and text but so far, I received no response. I don't expect the guy to give a damn about his customers. His service has unreliable and therefore he can't be trusted. Hopefully he changes my mind by actually operating his business. Ben came to my home. I have a leak in my pool. He charged me 86$ in advance to make an estimate when he came at home (although he told me on the phone that the estimate would be free). I never saw him back. I called him approximately 4 times after he came at home. The 1st time, he picked up the phone he told me that he will send the estimate right away. The other 3 times he did not pick up the phone. I left voice mails. Never heard back from him... If you get Ben to check your pool, you take the risk to waste 86$ and never see him again. I called him after several weeks and he apologized and said he'd return the following week. He never did. I called 3 more times, each call one week apart, leaving a voice mail and he never returned these calls. Now about 2 months have passed and I've given up on Ben. We discovered Ben There Pool Repair when my dad suspected there might be a leak in his swimming pool. My dad called around and Ben was not only super responsive, but he was also the most reasonably priced provider of all the ones my dad called. Ben drove to my parents' house, performed a number of tests to detect exactly where there were leaks, and then promptly repaired them. Ben is hard-working, responsible and courteous. When my dad suspected that one repair might not have "taken" completely, Ben came back to the house and, when he found that the leak wasn't completely stopped, he fixed it right away at no extra charge. Ben There Pool repair has worked on my pool and hot tub twice. About 6 years ago Ben unclogged the main drain plumbing in my pool and told me how to fix the skimmer. About a month ago he found and fixed an underground leak in my hot tub plumbing. He found the leak and offered for to let me fix it myself, when I failed (the leak was under my concrete pool pad. He came back and fixed it promptly and perfectly. The pad look like new again. He even credited me the fee he shared for finding the leak when he came back. read more

After dealing with 2 leak detection companies that charged me a ton of money to find a leak in my swimming pool but were unsuccessful, I gave Ben a call. I was losing almost 2 inches of water a day and that gets real expensive real quick. I had narrowed it down to the attached spa, and was convinced that it was the plumbing because it would stop leaking when the pump was turned off. First contact with him unfortunately was a mixed bag. He initially said he was busy with his kids (which I totally understand) and he would call me back in a couple of days. Well, he didn't. I gave it a few more days and left a message to call back on his voicemail. That wasn't returned, so I gave it a couple more days, called back and got him this time instead of his voicemail. He apologized and said he was tied up on a big job, and that he was most certainly interested in a challenge to find out what was going on. He came out and spent a good deal of time pressure testing the plumbing but came up unsuccessful as the other two companies. He was frustrated because he takes his work seriously and doesn't like to walk away from a problem. He asked me to run the pump and see if it still loses water for the next day or so. Sure enough, losing water again. I called him and he promptly came out, put his diving gear on, dye tested everything, and found the leak in the spa light! He made the repair on the spot and no more leaks! In summary, his prices are reasonable, about half what the major leak detection companies charge, he knows what he's doing. You might have to call him a few times to get in touch (being that he's so busy and a one man operation), but once you do, he's on the spot. I highly recommend him. read more

My husband & I were having trouble with a leak in our in ground pool vinyl liner. I called Ben to see if he could help since we had another leak detector company come out and they could not find the leak. Ben came out right after our phone conversation and walked around the pool to see if he noticed anything that did not look right he walked to the deep end of the pool and said your leak is coming from the seam in the liner and there was a slit from the seam seperation he put on his scubba gear got into the pool and put a patch and fixed the problem. If it was not for Ben's detail to what to look for we would still be looking for the leak and wasting water. Ben is a very happy person and enjoy's his work we could use a lot more people like him. Ben stopped by this morning on a service call to help us find a leak (or the source of our problem). Each day, we have had a stream of dirt lining our pool, compounding our algae problem. Ben took a good look at the pool and equipment and assured me that this wasn't a leak problem, but likely a tear in the filter or from the significant home construction taking place around us. Ben determined the source of the problem, explained the steps we can take to look for the tear ourselves (to save us money), and didn't charge for his time. I have no idea why Ben has reviews with anything other than 5 stars. I would give a million stars if it were possible. We had sand, rocks and concrete all over our pool from our backyard remodel. Our contractor made a mess and the pool was a disaster with piles of concrete that had adhered to the plaster. I never thought we would ever see it clean ever again. But, then, along came Ben. He spent a couple of hours and made the pool look brand new. He chiseled away the concrete, cleaned up the sediment and rocks, and sanded the stains, all while keeping the plaster intact. Our other option was to drain the pool and replaster. He saved us almost $10,000. He's friendly, responsive, fair and extremely competent. I really can't say enough good things about him. I usually never write reviews or give ratings but after my experience with Ben I had to post this. My Booster pump which is not even 6 years old had not been working for a week and I had called around a few people to get quotes right before a 4th of July weekend no less. As expected not many returned my call. The few that did call me back gave a quote for around $650.00 . Another company which has the highest rating on this site send someone over and he determined that the motor is DEAD and costs $459.00 for parts and labor. I guess good fortune was smiling upon me because I decided to think about it a day or two. Then I decided to call Ben, He was very polite and told me that he would choose a good booster pump for me which would last a long time and he gave me a quote for $450.00 for parts and labor. When he came over he took the initiative to thoroughly test the equipment and found out that the old Booster Pump is very much ALIVE and the reason it is not turning on was because it was being tripped by the wires connected to a Solar control panel which had been knocked over. I was expecting to pay the $450.00 but ended up with a mere $65.00. In any service related work it is very rare to come across HONEST people like Ben. He like the others, could have easily charged me for the full $450 and no one would ever know. I told him how much I appreciate his honesty and by doing this, he will be rewarded eventually. Ben seems to be busy all of the time, but then came out to the pool on several occasions, never with me present, even though I specifically asked him to call ahead so I could meet him. He said he found the leak, but then after 'fixing' it, the pool continues to leak as before. He won't return any calls now (I've called over 6 times!), and he cashed my check. I can't say it more clearly. Find someone else, he's not a professional. I feel totally ripped off. Save your time, money and sanity. read more

Ben was much more thorough with the leak detection and with his repair. He also was very knowledgeable about drain covers, and he did a great job reinstalling the main drain cover; he knew how to install the cover even though the previous screw holes had been drilled out so much that they were leaking. Last month after reading the reviews I called Ben to come out to find the problem with my pool was losing about 1" of water per day for the past 6 months.Ben is a very nice gentlemen,pleasant and after about 1/2 hour of testing the lines with his hearing device informed me that it was the skimmer leaking and nothing else.He said it was older and cracked.I questioned this and showed him a large area of water gathering down the hill which he didn`t really look but.he quoted me around $900.00 to replace the skimmer.I told him I would have my recent plaster/equipment repair company do this work instead.That week they installed a new skimmer after a lot of digging,reinstalling custom stone etc..Well can you believe that this didn`t solve any of my problems? Being very frustrated I called him and left a message and a week later after we spoke he returned to do a few more tests.Unfortunately he couldn't really find the problem but a few guesses.While still leaking I had to call another leak detention service for another $450.00 and after a long check up determined it was coming from the pool light fixture area and the skimmer didn't originally need replacing.I myself after researching online drained the pool took out the light,,sealed around the cord inlet and along the housing assembly and now its fixed! read more
