Cute cafe for baguettes, pastries and sandwiches. I ordered the cro'gel which is a cross bewteen a croissant and bagel and it was delicious! The iced coffee was also tasty. Staff was fine but took a while for the food to be ready, which was okay since I wasn't in a rush.

Got too excited and ate half before thinking about a photo BUT that's clearly proof that we love this place. We had a quiche Lorraine, California and Norwegian cro'gel and ham and cheese baguette. All were delightful but that cro'gel-- there's some sort of magic in there!! It was buttery and flaky and fresh and packed with flavor. The hubs said it was "delightful" and he does not drop that adjective lightly lol. Im not sure there is anything not good here -- prove me wrong.

Fresh Baguette is a charming bakery in Old Town. The bread is fresh, and you can smell the croissants and french loaves baking the moment you walk in. I especially love their breakfast Cro'gel sandwich, made with croissant dough shaped like a bagel, it's delicious! Whether you're grabbing a quick sandwich, picking up pastries, or trying one of their homemade quiches, there's always something tempting.

I love a good eclair, and Fresh Baguette's vanilla eclair made my day! I've loved everything I've gotten here, but I think this was my favorite. Light but full of flavor and FULL of filling. Absolutely delicious!

This is now my place for fresh bread! Their sourdough loaf is phenomenal. The only drawback is one-third the loaf is gone shortly after I bring it home (I can't help myself). Tip: get it sliced, then separate the slices before freezing (the slices tent to stick together by the time you get it home).

Fresh Baguette is one of the cafes/restaurants that makes me feel lucky that I live in the DMV area! If I lived anywhere else, I'd bookmark it and keep craving for it and wish to visit the area and try! Thank God they are here where I live! :) I've a very detailed review of their products at the McLean location, which was my first interaction with the chain! The only bad thing with Fresh Baguette is that they aren't everywhere !! You guys better expand! lol Of course, the Crogel is an invention by all means! Don't miss it!!! The Brew Club is a must. If you work or live near any of their locations for about $11-$12, you get 5 espresso drinks per day every day during the month! It pays itself after 2 or 3 drinks! Very good quality! It's not the best espresso, to be honest, but it's not bad either! ( Yeah, you guys need better beans!) Old town Alexandria is my favorite spot in the U.S. !! I feel connected! I feel home, and I feel beauty and love, so I love it when my favorite chains open there! I can say this is my favorite Fresh Baguette location! Staff are very friendly, and the standards of Fresh Baguette chain are obviously enforced here! Love it I love the outdoor seats when weather permits, or I love sitting next to the window during the cold or too hot weather One more thing I wish if Fresh Baguette could pay attention to is the Parisian ( Ham & Cheese ) , I wish if they use more French brand like the Madrange and Comté or Gruyère and not the Swiss! The sandwich will be in a totally different rank! Because really they have the best Baguette ever and use good butter, so why not make it the best?? ;) Please consider it! Try it, vote for the review , message me, or compliment me with any comment or question, and don't forget to ... Pray for me ;)

Wow! What a cute little bakery. I have never seen anything like this before. I don't know, because I have never been to France, but it felt very French. Loafs of bread lining the walls, beautiful display cases full of delicate pastries that you only really see on Netflix. Quaint, cute, with a nice aroma wafting throughout. We walked in off the street one day, and started the immense task of browsing. We ended up picking three delectable-looking things. We started off with the obvious, Chocolate Éclair (A fluffy shell filling with chocolate pastry cream and topped with rich chocolate fondant). Delicate, perfect ooey gooey cream inside, and a nice pop of fondant with each bite, as well. Very good. Then I looked and saw the Cannelé (This ancient French treat is baked in a copper mold giving it a caramelized outer crust while remaining moist and spongy on the inside. Made with crepe dough with a hint of rum). This was a fun little thing. Compact, dense, but very moist and with that aforementioned crust on the outside. Never had anything like this. I was a fan! I finished off with the Kouign Amann (A tradition from the Brittany region of France. Buttery, flaky, sweet layers topped with a delicate caramel shell. The name translates to butter cake). This thing was wild. Not a ton of flavor, just a touch of sweetness from the caramel shell, but the flakes upon flakes upon flakes. Also never had anything like this before. Wow! Overall, this place was a wild ride. I am pretty sure I don't have anything like this near me, so I should have gone back and tried new things. Now I have reason to return to Alexandria.

    Almond Croissant
    Heying D.

We came in late but there were still many goodies. As we were just looking for a small bite before dinner, our choice fell on the almond croissant. It was pretty good, flaky and how the filling tasted. There was just the right amount of almond extract in it. However, the filling was just a little for that big croissant. I'd have loved a little more. The ambiance is ok. The bright white light are less inviting and flattering on the baked goods. I find it a little odd how the baked goods were displayed as the display items were dried out and not too appealing. Prices are ok for these beautiful pastries.

Pros: Wonderful location that's very walkable no matter where you park in this Old Town area of town. The atmosphere is perfectly bakery as you walk in. You know what you are in for, and you can't wait to look at all of the options to purchase. An amazing selection, things for chocoholics, fruit lovers, bread lovers, and a few old school options you don't see around very much. Wonderful service. Very polite people who were always smiling. Cons: No critiques. Maybe that I wish there was an all you can eat option. Lol. Tips: Chocolate éclair, cannelé, kouign amann. All delicious. Get them all, and more.

Petit CroGel Sunny Side Up Bacon
    RJ L.

Came here with my boss for a coffee and a little snack before dinner. Decided to get the petit sunny side up sandwich. It was delicious. This place is not inexpensive however what we had was wonderful. I would absolutely go back. The inside is very clean just a little small and can be a bit loud if full. There are a few seats outside as well.

Delicate Hot Chocolate…read more I have long been an admirer of fine hot chocolate. Traditionally, I would visit Starbucks or a contemporary coffeehouse, only to receive what often felt like mocha syrup blended with steamed milk--pleasant, perhaps, but rarely memorable. This morning marked my first visit to Tatte Bakery & Café in Old Town Alexandria where the hot chocolate proved to be an unexpected delight. The associate explained that it was prepared with semisweet chocolate and warm milk. Intrigued, I ordered a small and chose to enjoy it outdoors. The price was refreshingly reasonable, while the bakery's bright interior and refined ambiance created an inviting first impression. My drink arrived within approximately five minutes, presented elegantly in a cup and saucer. The temperature was perfectly warm--comforting without being excessively hot--and the overall presentation was quietly sophisticated but has room for improvement. Then came the taste.... The texture was exceptionally silky and smooth, with no grainy residue, excessive sweetness, or bitter aftertaste. It was rich without being heavy and indulgent without becoming overwhelming. Even better, it left behind no awkward crown of foam. I have enjoyed hot chocolate in Sicily, where the experience was quite literally a cup of melted chocolate--decadent, dense, and almost dessert-like. Tatte's interpretation was more delicate and restrained, yet equally satisfying in its own way. Tatte has now earned first place in my personal ranking. There is, however, still an opportunity to elevate the service experience. A cloth napkin and small spoon presented alongside the drink would add a more polished touch, while a subtle soupçon of finely shaved chocolate would enhance both the visual presentation and the final sip. Overall, I award Tatte's hot chocolate an A-. I look forward to seeing whether it can achieve an even higher distinction upon my next visit.

When it's crowded you can barely hear your name. We stopped in the late afternoon and it was cool and empty. I had a delicious matcha latte and some lovely baked treat. Thanks a latte, Tatte!

But, I decided my kiddos needed a treat. Located on a corner you walk into hues of pink, florals and the smell of chocolate and coffee. I became immediately distracted by the toppings and melted chocolate. But, when I snapped out of it, I was able to place my order. I opted for the Dubai chocolate inspiration over strawberries. If I remember correctly it was around $20 five or take. The cafe is so cute. It is small and if crowded be prepared to navigate that. There is bathrooms inside but, I do not know if it is for customers or not, as they were locked when we were there. The staff were just starting for the day. But they were helpful, kind and ready to roll. Once we received our order we sat down and dug right in. The strawberries were fresh, large and draped over in chocolate, pistachio cream and katifia. This is not my first time having Dubai chocolate or Dubai inspired chocolate. I thoroughly enjoy it over strawberries. There is just something about chocolate ad strawberries. It had a really nice balance of flavors and didn't feel gimmicky at all. It's always a risk trying something a little different, but this one definitely paid off. Another thing I appreciated was that they had a section of cookies discounted because they were made the night before. I love when places do this...it's a great way to try more flavors without spending a lot, and honestly, the cookies were still really good.
