I don't even want to leave ONE star, but here we are. I rarely go to the doctor. Usually just for an annual physical or something minor, but every single visit to Benacare turns into a half-day event. I arrive early and without fail, I'm there for at least two hours. Every time. No exaggeration. Then there's the co-pay situation. Annual physicals typically include lab work and a follow-up to review results. Benacare charges a co-pay for that follow-up, whether it's over the phone or in person, which feels questionable at best. There's no option for a simple nurse visit and no online portal to review your own results. So you're basically paying just to hear information that could easily be shared another way. And to top it off, their credit card machine is somehow always "down." Paying becomes its own ordeal. Multiple attempts, repeated card numbers, long holds. I've spent up to 30 minutes just trying to complete a payment over the phone. The whole experience feels inefficient, outdated, and unnecessarily frustrating. read more

If you're coming in for a scheduled appointment.. cancel your whole and expect to spend your day there. Multiple occasions I went in for my appointment, even show up ten mins early & would be sitting for hour-hour and a half before even being seen. This office is mediocre! I saw Madonna when I first got my Rx. For some reason she's not there anymore so I have to deal with Benavidez. I asked for a refill on Tuesday, I waited for a call back, never got one. I figured they were busy so I called them. The front desk said it takes 2-3 days to get a refill so I give them all of Wednesday and still no call. I call on Thursday and go figure Benavidez failed to read the refill message. The front desk said she'd call me back. I know this is not the front desk fault that they're so swamped but at this point I'm pissed. She never called me back like she said she would. I called and was told that he can't refill it and I have to go somewhere else. The referral I got wasn't for 2.5 weeks. I call back and explain, the front desk says Benavidez won't see me and I have to go to the hospital. Whole lot of shit wrong here. Why am I being told to wait weeks for medication I asked for two days prior? Why do I have to go to urgent care when you have clearly wrote me multiple Rx before??? Why do I have to go to urgent care during COVID & I'm not physically ill? Benavidez made me feel worse than when I initially called. So now my anxiety is through the roof even more because I know I have to go to a health center where tons of sick people are. So not only am I risking my health but I feel like my health provider doesn't give a shit about my well being. This office needs a few extra hands and better protocol. Find a different location! Every time I call their office, it goes to automatic voicemail saying that their office is closed, even though I call during their normal business hours. If you manage to get a hold of someone, consider yourself lucky. The one time I finally managed to schedule an appointment, I received a call back a few days later saying that the doctor would not be in on that day and I had to reschedule. I hate to leave this review because I really do like Dr. Benavides. Unfortunately, his staff and the general management of the office is unacceptable. The front desk people are very rude and treat you as a disturbance. It is impossible to get an appointment with the Dr. And when you opt to go with someone else, they schedule you out weeks later, call the day before to confirm your appointment, and then call the day of the appointment to cancel on you. This has not only happened to me several times, but on scheduled appointments for my husband as well. It's bad enough to wait weeks for an appointment, but to then cancel day of, after modifying your day to get in on time, is unacceptable. If patients get charged for less than 24 hour cancellation notices, then the doctors office should be subject to the same. read more

Wish I could give a no star review for my visit today with my daughter. We had Dr. Benavidez, and he was awful! After waiting for about an hour in the patient room for him to come in, he finally came in and was horrible from the start! We were there to vaccinate my daughter, but felt more comfortable spreading them out. I had some questions and he was very clear that he was just not interested in any of my concerns. He was incredibly rude, and we ended up leaving without getting any of the vaccinations she needed , which was pretty frustrating considering we waiting about a month for this appointment. Dr. Benavidez is a wonderful doctor and has been in our family for a long period of time. He has employed an exceptional women Madonna with whom I highly recommend. Have had 3 appointments scheduled at Benacare: 1st, had to wait 45 minutes after my appointment time to be seen. 2nd, I was running 15 minutes late due to being stuck in traffic, they wouldn't wait for me. 3rd (today), arrived 15 minutes early and still have not been seen (40 minutes and counting). Asked for a refund on my co-pay because I'm going to find a different doctor, was told I may receive a credit to my account, not helpful as I don't plan an coming back, ever. This place is an example of the reason people hate visiting the doctors office as it pertains to ridiculous wait times, let alone the fact they won't wait when a customer is running a little late. Every time I call I get an automated message saying they are closed or not able to take my call. I have to go in the office to get an appointment. Then I still have to wait 2 months for my appointment. After that I still waited another hour to hour and a half or so just to be seen. When they received my labs they never called me to give me my results and go over them. I have to call them or else I would never hear from them. I liked when Dr. Madonna was there. This office is a mess. It's always crowded and has the atmosphere of a garbage dump. Dr. Caringi is an inept physician who can do two things and both of them very poorly. He can prescribe dangerous drugs without monitoring a patient, and he can do steroid injections where he thinks the pain might be. But he guesses at this and his method of injections are painful and ineffective. It wasn't until I saw a competent pain physician I realized how an injection is supposed to work. You're better off without a doctor that seeing Dr. Caringi. read more

Dr. Daryl Caringi is a Physiatrist, specializing in pain management. I would not recommend him under any circumstances. He must spent all of 5 minutes with you after a long wait period. In his field, he is supposed to be an expert in trigger point injections; which he did for me and they caused more pain. You sign your life away with his disclaimers before the injections, and you do so because of pain. Most importantly, he did not administer the cortisone injections in my shoulder properly, and it further weakened the cuff causing a total tear and the need for rotator cuff surgery and six months of rehab to be able to function normally. Avoid at all costs!!! I agree with the other reviews that the front office staff is unprofessional and giggly. I think you could get better office help from a Craig's List Ad. Wish I would have seen the writing on the wall when it was difficult to make an appointment and just stayed away... read more

Doctor Benavides has the worst bedside manners. I made an appointment for a video call and received a phone call . When I mentioned to doctor Benavides that I thought it was going to be a video call he rudely responded "why does it matter". Overall it was a very unsuccessful call. No solution to my problem. Stay away from this facility. All they want is your money. They don't care about you. I changed doctors two years ago and it was the best decision ever. Now my mother and sisters still go here and after today's visit they are changing doctors. Last week one of my sisters had symptoms of a UTI and she called to get an appointment and they told her she would have to wait until next week to be seen, so basically they wanted her to wait and continue with the infection. Now today, my other sister goes in for what she thought was a physical and to get a prescription and then they only gave her the prescription because they will only do one issue per visit... please excuse my language but are you fucking kidding me ? $30 copay for a damn prescription. I seriously would do not recommend this place to anyone. Mainly because of the front office staff. They seem to have forgotten why they are in their field. They do not care about their patients. -You call them, they immediately place you on hold, they don't ask they just say please hold. -You go in and they don't greet you. Whenever they are ready to charge you they call your name and ask for payment and then tell you to sit. -When you are sick and need to make an appointment they tell you they can see you in a few weeks. -If you call about a question they tell you they will call you back but never do. -You ask if they can sign you in as they always take b/w 45-60 minutes to see you and they say no, that you only have 10 minutes after appointment time to check in or you lose your spot and have to reschedule. -girls are always chit chatting about personal life... Doctors, please hire better staff as they are killing you! Even your Office Manager has a bad attitude and doesn't care about the patients. She is mean looking and not approachable. Has no business being there. I'm giving this a 2 star instead of a 1 star because Dr. Olivares is great. Had an appointment scheduled with my PPO insurance and the day before Vivian said I was assigned to a different office and couldn't be seen there. I set up my first appointment with Dr. Benavidez within a week of when I first called, which is great, the only thing is the business day before my appointment the office called me to tell me that the doctor wouldn't be in for my appointment day. The receptionist offered a day a week down the line and I told her I would have to give them a call back as I needed to check my schedule . I called them back the next business day and now I can not get an appointment with the doctor for a month?!? They keep trying to offer me appointments with assistants which I do not prefer as I have a serious injury. The staff does not seem to be helpful and must be disorganized after my first visit was already canceled, never had this happen with any other doctor at anytime. If I could give 0 stars I would...negative stars would be even better. I used to see Dr. Olivares when she was at this practice. Unfortunately she has left and I was left to see her PA this afternoon. First of all I showed up for my appointment 20 min early...the front desk collected my 65.00 Co pay and informed me the PA was 15-20 min behind...ok. 40 min later she told me it would be another 15 min!!!! Wtf?! Ok fine...I wait...I get in the room finally when I tell her what I want and how the previous MD had authorized this med and was monitoring me and I was fine...she tells me she would not authorize the refill...now I'm really pissed...not only did they keep me waiting for almost an hour with no apology...now I'm not even gonna get what I came for and am out $65!!! The front staff is a joke and the "professionals" are not any better...I would not be as upset if she had spent a little more time in asking if there was anything else she could do or any other questions/concerns but no...just told me "no" to the med listened to my heart and lungs and jammed out... My mom saw this same PA months ago for her many health issues...she never seemed to really dig and try to find ways to handle my mom's issues...sticking with same medications. I asked her for nutritionist referral for my mom I never got an OK or a no...well it never got done. I switched my mom to a practice that is so professional and just overall amazing (Aspen Family Medicine). Doctor Olivares' follow through is terrible. when I call in the front desk is clueless and they blame her notes. I went in for my appointment with Jason the PA, (which he should not be a PA) he saw me for my check up and I was having some health issues. I have also been under the care of pain management for my hip pain but I asked for a refill of my pain med and instead of him telling me he would not refill them he made his nurse tell me. Jason has no bedside manner and I refuse to see him as long as I have to stay at that practice. The front office staff in the upland office are very rude and very uncooperative. Dr Benevidez isn't much better my son saw him and took him off him paim meds that he takes for the pain in his knees. As soon as we can we will be leaving the office. I have taken my son here for sports physicals for years because they were an office that would do them for a reasonable rate. My son needed another physical in a deadline and our current office couldn't fit us in for weeks. Not only that i had to wait on hold for 15 minutes to figure that out. You call Benecare and a live voice picks up the phone! I didn't have to wait weeks. We met Jason and he was excellent in caring for my son. I had to interact with the front desk and Caroline the office manager and all of them were very pleasant and took care of our needs as if we were a regular patient of theirs. I had to wait for over 1.5 hours to see the doctor, and was warned that I could only consult with the doctor about "2 issues" per appointment, even though the doctor is a family doctor. To ask about more issues, I would have to schedule another appointment. The doctor did not take any time to see how I am feeling, or what my concerns were. Doctor inspires no trust or confidence. This place is HORRIBLE!! First of all wait times are on average an hour after your scheduled apt time to get in and usually about an additional 15 to 30 minutes until the doctor comes in. The doctors here like Olivarez and Benavidez are great but the overall office experience is not worth it. When it comes to referrals they take forever to process them and do it wrong half the time. This can cause major delays n be expensive if ur in need of treatment. They also have insane fees, we were charged $25 just to fill out a form saying we had our yearly physical done. First of all a physical is preventative care which u should not pay ur copay but they charged anyway and still charged us an additional 25$ to sign our forms as evidence we had them done. Overall this place is a joke, they put you on hold for a looong time when u call, long wait on apts and unorganized personnel. We switched doctors and will not look back read more

This medical group is terrible! The front office staff is rude, inconsiderate, and unprofessional. The NP's and PA's are very quick to come in and do their assessment and go their merry way. Not interested in what the patient has to say at all. I would never recommend this medical group to my family or friends. Being a registered nurse and being exposed to the health care setting, this is definitely not a place where I feel they care about me and my well-being. I have not had any of the issues that the other posters have had. Dr. Benavidez recently visited my uncle when he was in the hospital even though my uncle was no longer one of his patience. Dr. Olivares is the best doctor that I have ever had. I have a lot of medical issues and always have tons of questions and Dr. Olivares is always patient with me. She answers all of my questions. It takes a lot for me to comment on here, but this office has me at wits end. The doctors are ok - it is the office staff that needs some serious adjustment. In previous comments, it is mentioned that you call and they immediately place you on hold. This is so true - every time I call I am immediately placed on hold. You can not be that busy all the time and they don't even ask, they just say "Benacare Medical Center, hold please". Today I called just to make a payment...it took me 30 minutes just to make a payment. I was put on hold several times and when I asked to change my address, I was told that I had to come in and fill out a form. I am not taking time off of work to come in to fill out a form to change my address. Also, after my payment was finally processed, she told me that I could come in to pick up my receipt! Are you kidding me?!? And when I asked if she could just mail it to me - she hesitated before finally agreeing. Then we were back to the address change ordeal. Ridiculous to say the least. I agree with all of the previous comments of they are rude when you walk in the office and wait times are long. Unfortunately, we will be finding another doctors office cause I just can not take it anymore with the staff. Issues every time. read more
