I've been going here for more than 10 yrs. The I've had a great experience every time with this office. His assistant Dr. Johnny Dauz is also excellent and provides high-quality care. I truly appreciate the level of attention and support I've received, including being provided with sample medication when needed. Highly recommend office of Dr Mark Shiu is the best. When they finally attend to you, they provide a good service. However, the doctor's lack of respect for the client's time leads to long wait times. You might find yourself waiting in the waiting room for an extended period, and even after being called in, you could end up staying in the room for an hour or so. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I raised this issue, there was no apology or change in behavior.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff, while generally fine, can be perceived as having an attitude and treating people rudely when confronted.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have hung up on people. Instead of explaining, they just hung up because they didn't like that you got angry about something they did or are doing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Despite these issues, they have the potential to improve. Dr. Mark Shiu's office has definitely gone down in care. I'm so disappointed because I absolutely felt he cared about his patients. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Now you can barely get an appointment with him.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I am always scheduled with the NP.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When you ask to get a message to the Dr or for him or the NP to call you ,you are told they "probably will not call you back"[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. They obviously do not put notes in the computer regarding your visit and what the follow up is for. Additionally they advise they will submit authorizations to your insurance company and it never happens, DELAYING, the care you are supposed to be getting. They fail to provide accurate information to your medical insurance companyI've been with Dr Shiu many years and he came highly recommended (by another physician). Makes me sad, but I will be looking for another doctor. I've spoken to other patients and they are also looking elsewhere. read more

My Dr is Mark Shiu & Johnny is his PA. They are both so caring & they listen & refer you promptly as needed. On Sept. 12th, 23 I had a lot of pain for 4 days, i thought I had a flu. I finally called Dr Shiu's office to get an appt. I explained to the receptionist my pain & she gave me a morning appt. right away. I saw Johnny, the PA. & I explained i had pain in my right abdomen & I could barely walk. The next thing i know he is on his laptop getting me an appt. to radnet for a Stat CTscan. After i had the scan & I had just left, they called me to come back & get my CD. They called Johnny too & he called me promptly & said my Gall Bladder was very infected & to go to the Hospital & get admitted. I went to ER & although it took 7-8 hours, they ran all their tests & admitted me. A surgeon came in & said I need my GB removed. I had it removed the next morning & I was on strong antibiotics in my IV & there for 5 days. Thank you, Thank you Johnny for acting so quickly & being so caring & believing me. I want to Thank Dr Shiu also for calling the hospital to give them the info to get me admitted. They are an outstanding team & very understanding & I am glad to have them as my Medical Professionals. Dr Shiu is amazing! I don't mind the frond desk staff, as am not here to see them. It is really hard to find a good doctor, a-lot of them care only about money and sees you as a number but not Dr Shiu, you can tell he genuinely cares about his patients and makes you feel like you are a part of his community lol! To conclude, good doctors are hard to come by and when you find one. Keep him and i think people are not bringing to his attention their issues with the front desk, maybe he will have a meeting with them or something. I don't know, i don't let them bother me and i don't bother them either unless i have needs lol! read more

Unfortunately this is a reflection on the office staff. Since they have taken over for my old doctor and his staff the transition has not been smooth. The office phone is rarely answered, messages are not returned and it seems that there is not an awareness on how to get pre-authorizations approved. My daughter has been trying for the past two months to get a pre-approval for a MRI and has been given the run around. She was then informed to submit her own chiropractic treatment records to a physician only portal. This is the job of the primary care physician's staff. Not the patient, and not the Chiro office. I will be asking to speak to the office manager, if the phone is actually answered, and I hope to get this resolved. It is unfortunate that we have to go this route in order to get a proper response. Hopefully this will get resolved other wise our family of 5 will have to look for another doctor. read more

Slow service but decent docs. Take multiple insurance companies. Make sure you have an appt.

I highly recommend Nurse practitioner Johnny. He takes the time to listen to my concerns, asked questions to better understand my symptoms. He is professional, knowledgeable, caring, and compassionate. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. read more

Update: I did finally get my refill the same night I posted my review. I will say that Dr Shiu is a good doctor and I feel the majority of my issues office staff related, nevertheless I still plan to change my primary doctor. I highly doubt that will help much either because healthcare today just sucks I used to be really happy with Dr Shiu, he's been my pcp since 2016 but trying to get refills lately has been a joke. Calling the office doesn't help so I think I'm going to have to visit urgent care and start the hunt for a new pcp before an asthma exacerbation puts me in the hospital read more

My wonderful caring loving and compassionate Dr. recommended Dr. Mark L. Shiu, before he passed away. I've been coming here since 2015 and eventually signed up the rest of my family members, because Dr. Shiu listens, cares, looks up your previous history so that he can diagnose you himself. I'm very happy with his care he's very professional and human. If you come to him for 2nd. Opinion on medical care he will attentively, carefully give you his medical advice. A simple annual check up requires you to visit the location 2x! Instead of getting the blood work prior to your first visit they want you to come back. Nobody has time for that! I've been trying to get my meds renewed for over a month. My pharmacy had called several times but no answer. I ve called almost daily and leave messages, no return calls. I finally got thru by calling continuously until someone finally answered. I now have to see the doctor before I can get my refills. Would have been nice if someone called me weeks ago and told me. It will be over 5 weeks by the time I get my meds. Luckily I don't need heart meds or any critical meds to survive. read more

It is always a pleasure to visit with my good doctor. He always takes as much time as is needed to answer questions and educate me regarding my health related questions. The lobby is roomy. The examination rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. And the location of the office is outstanding. I highly recommend Dr. Shiu. What a great guy. read more

OMGOODNESS! This office staff is for the birds. I'm all about being patient (pun intended) w COVID-19 and all but this is ridiculous. You call in to set an appointment and give your information over the phone and yet the person you speak to may or may not take your correct information. So they call you back 2 or 3 times with them same questions trying to get the correct information, all of which you provided in your original phone call!! It's really a shame because the DR. himself is really quite nice and easy to work with. BUT he's just not worth the trouble of his office staff. There are other doctors to choose from. read more

Dr Mark Shiu is a professional and very knowledgeable about a wide array of HealthCare. I'm in my late 30's and have been to many offices... I like the ambiance if the waiting room, which I'm usually in for no more than 15 minutes, and their rooms are clean, modern, and welcoming. His office staff is on point, and very friend...
