This restaurant is located on the second floor of citywalk area. It is outside the main park, so accessible without a park ticket. It is mostly a takeout store, but few tables are available in front of the store. We put in order for few baos, a poke rice bowl and a mango drink. During the order they didn't ask if it's for stay or to go, I assumed it was to go. So when the order came out few minutes later, I had to pack all of it myself. They also forgot my mango drink, I had to remind them. There's only few times in ages that I was scared just looking at a dish, the duck bao and poke bowls were one of them. The duck was so plain, it looked ghost white. The poke bowls had some rice, meat and sauce, looked so unappealing. Sure enough none of them had any flavor or real taste. Bend the Bao is located upstairs in the Universal Orlando City Walk. Tucked in a corner, amongst other fast food options, I thought the baos/buns would be an awesome option. I opted for the three bao combo and I was vastly disappointed for the portion size, taste, and price. The filling was not enough for the amount of bread. The shrimp was not as crispy (it felt like it was premade and heated up just for my order so it didn't taste as fresh and crispy, breading was about to slide off the shrimp). Overall, it's not really enough to fill you up if you're hungry. My friend got their bubble teas (the fruity blueberry one) and was vastly disappointed. The size of the drink is pretty small for the price you're paying for it as well. If I have the chance to come back, I might skip this place. Plenty of seats in an outdoor seating area. Your order does take some time to prepare as there's usually just one person at the cash register taking orders and one chef/cook putting the food orders together. It is on the second floor of City Walk and is really just a quick service location. There are a few tables around as well as a few bar stools that look right into the kitchen. If you have an annual pass, there is a discount available, and you can order online using the Universal Orlando App. I recommend this as it makes it very easy. I was a little nervous ordering on the app since I wanted to leave a few items off the bao buns, but it was very easy. My husband and I recently came here during the holidays. We were visiting the Red and Green Coconut Club and were looking for something to eat. We actually didn't know if we could bring food into the Coconut Club but once we noticed others, we knew we wanted to order from Bend the Bao. They have bao buns, that's it. Nothing extra but drinks. There are a few different options, and you order them as a combo of three, with the option to add a fourth. There are also pictures of each Bao near the registers so you can see what they look like. We decided to share three since we were not terribly hungry. However, we forgot how delicious they were, and we should have ordered our own. We went with the following three options: 1. Pork Belly- scallions, cucumber, honey roasted peanuts and cilantro 2. Duck- kimchi slaw, XO sauce, cilantro and 5 spice aioli 3. Fried shrimp- cabbage, avocado, pico de gallo and chipotle crema We did modify all of them as I do not like onions or kimchi. When you order on the app, there is a list after you choose your three, that has every topping, just click on the items you do not want. Great spot to get a small bite to eat. We don't have a lot of good Asian restaurants in Tampa, so take this review with a grain of salt. That being said, I loved this place. You'll have to wait a while after ordering, since they make it to order, but it is worth it. I got the Duck Bao, Beef Brisket Bao and Shrimp Bao. All of them were delicious. The bao was fluffy and it had a good amount of filling. My son picked a bit at the breading, but neither of them ate a lot, so future Christina know that if you are going to eat this, you'll probably have to eat it all yourself. The bao were quite small so expensive for what you get. My duck bao tasted good and we liked the pork belly the best. We love Bao in our family. This is a relatively newer place to us. I have seen this place before, but my child did not know it existed until this trip. I love Citywalk and we were spending the afternoon eating snacks around the shopping area and tried three bao here. We got the pork belly, shrimp, and duck. While it was a bit pricy in my opinion for three little bao, it was a tasty snack. I liked the variety. The people working here were very nice. It is located upstairs in a spot with a lot of fast food choices, so for a snack it was perfect. If you were getting this for a meal I am not sure three would fill you up, but good if you are eating around Citywalk. It is also good if you want a light meal before a decadent dessert around here. Had to try them all and provide a good review. The actual bao was cooked well, soft and chewy and freshly made. High marks for that. Now let's start with the pork bao. The sauce was good, the pork was cut thick enough to compensate for the thick bao. Pork had its own sweet sauce with very little veggies. Was hoping for that fresh green something but was disappointed. The beef was next and it gave you that sweet red onion along with some secret sauce. It was a good balance in taste. The shrimp was okay, nothing fancy, the crab cakes had a little heat which was a pleasant surprise, but I don't particularly liked breaded seafood in a bao, just not my thing. Too heavy on the starch. The last one is the duck bao. Maybe it was not made fresh but I didn't like it at all. The duck was bland, not even salted and mixed in with some cabbage at the bottom. No crunch whatsoever. That would have been a hit if they've added some hoisin sauce and some cucumbers. But they DID NOT. that was my idea, or the classic Peking duck. Wink wink. Overall concept was good, but I was expecting more veggies in there like cucumbers and scallion and some carrots but I didn't get that. Personally, three stars for me. Not a bad deal at an amusement park. I had the pork belly. It was dry but tasty. The brisket with the fried jalapeños. It also was dry but tasty. The last one I had was the duck. It was by far the best. The meat was tender if a bit under seasoned. My partner had the crab. It was bad. Stay away at all costs. The price was good for a park. Stopped here for a quick snack because I love Baos! Bend the Bao is upstairs near the Burger King and Menchies area. This is a walk up and order and then find a seat wherever you can kinda place. They offer 7 different baos you can choose from. Kimchee, Pork Belly, Duck, Beef Brisket, Veggie, Shrimp, and Crab Cake. You can choose 2 baos for $11.99, in my opinion that's a bit pricey but then again you are in a tourist place. I tried the Pork Belly, Beef Brisket, and Duck. The Pork Belly was my favorite! It wasn't busy, however, the wait was 30 minutes. There was two orders ahead of ours. There is spacious table seating overlooking the entrance to Universal's City Walk After reviewing Bend the Bao's menu, we had ordered the following Kimchee FC kimchee fried chicken, kimchee butter, gochujang, cucumber, scallion, sriracha aioli Duck braised duck, kimchee slaw, XO sauce, cilantro, 5 spice aioli Pork Belly pork belly, scallions, cucumber, honey roasted peanuts, cilantro Beef Brisket (plain) beef brisket The Kimchee FC didn't taste like much. It was relatively bland with little flavoring. None of the Kimchee butter flavoring was highlighted in the dish. All you could taste was the fried chicken. The Duck Bao was okay. There wasn't much Kimchee Slaw in the Bao, but you could taste the XO sauce and cilantro. The Pork Belly Bao was good. Portion, it was the large Bao out of all of the ones ordered. It's not a crispy pork belly, it was a steamed pork belly. It was all very soft. The Beef Brisket really needed all of the ingredients. We had requested the Bao to be plain due to dietary restrictions, but the Beef Brisket was extremely dry. Overall the portion size was really small and all of the food was overpriced. It was approximately $30.00 for all of the Bao. Customer service was decent, but they forgot one of the Bao's in the order. We had to request it and show them the receipt. read more

We got more of the pork belly baos that we'd liked the last time and tried the duck ones for something new. Came here for the first time. I honestly didn't know what to expect as I never even heard of it before I went. First impression wasn't good as we were in a rush and tried several times to do a mobile order but kept getting an error "Mobile orders are not being accepted at this time". Not sure if glitch or no longer an option but couldn't find any info on that. Once we got there though the worker at the cash register was kind and patient with us. Answered our questions and got our orders correct! Was fast with the drinks too! It took about 10 minutes to receive the food and it was good! I got the Kimchee FC, Pork and Beef Brisket. I also got the mango bubble tea, it wasn't bad, but not my favorite. I actually can't wait to come back here with my husband, he would love it! As for the actual location, it's like a stand on the upper level. There is plenty of public seating for the stands up there so finding a place to sit and eat was easy. After a long day, was looking to grab something easy on the way out of the parks and Bao sounded great! They offer mobile order so we were able to place the order easily when exiting the park. They give you the option to pick it up or have it delivered to a table. We wanted to sit and eat, so selected delivery to a table and put in the table number once we sat down. Turns out they do not deliver it and you still have to go and pick it up from the pickup window. Which I don't mind, but if that's the format then don't offer table delivery. It's confusing. It was about $17 for 3 baos - upon receiving them they were smaller than expected. I got the duck, KFC, and pork belly. The duck was just okay - didn't have much flavor, the fried chicken was plain bad - basically a teeny overcooked chicken tender in some sauce. The pork belly was the best out of the 3 but was still mediocre at best. Overpriced, food was small and overwhelming - will not be back again. Could have had a full filling meal elsewhere for the same price. Had to make dinner when we got home because we were still hungry. read more

I'm giving this a round up to 3 stars kind of review. We ordered 3 plates with 5 different bao's. I tried all 5 of them so I'll rank them and explain. First of all, they're on the small side for the price. Duh, you're in a theme park, but still...pricey for these. The container they bring you fits 3 and that's probably a better fit for pricing to me. You get a small amount of protein with each bao. Pretty standard again. If you've never had one, it can seem pretty WTF. 2 medium/large shrimp come on the shrimp one if that helps with expectations. 1 - pork belly. Best of the bunch by far. 2 - brisket. Not the best ever, but it works well with the bao. 3 & 4- chicken/shrimp. Both are pretty equal here. Not a fan of either. The shrimp reminded me of those shrimp you get at a Chinese buffet. The chicken was about half the size of a normal chicken finger. Nothing remarkable taste-wise. 5 - crab cake. Just eww. Not a good crab cake and not a good fit for bao either. Would I come back? Probably not. I wanted a quick eat that I can't get at home before I hit the road. Too bad those plates of Panda Express around me looked more tempting. read more

Wow, the food was delicious! I regret not trying the dumplings. I ordered this meal to go, after a long day at the park I wanted to try some new and different at our hotel. The pork belly was absolutely delicious, it was uniquely seasoned but soo good, my picky nine-ager even liked it the peanut complimented very very well; loved it. The duck was surprisingly good, it wasn't chewy it was tender. Shrimp was also very very good well seasoned and the garnish compliments very well. The steamed bread they used was my favorite it had a hint of sweetness but not over powering or cooked it just compliment and taste very good with different spices and flavors.
