One of my favorite little bars in Austin. Good location, great food and a spacious bar. Everything I have gotten to eat here has been amazing! The patio is big and spacious with plenty of room to spread out. They have a jukebox with a great selection of music that I go crazy over every time I am there. Great late night spot. I've been going here for years and have been with and met all types of crowds. Most beers are around $3.50 ish. Even your micro brew good beers. Can't beat that! Always showing a cool movie or the game on the adequate selection of TV's although don't confuse this with a sports bar......cause it's not. Separate game room includes 2 pool tables, foosball, dart boards, and pinball. Most nights they have some food special which is very much bar food. Even a 50 cent wing night!!! Love this place! Drinks are always cheap and mighty tasty. Good selection of beers as well as their music. Staff is always friendly, just like the people that come into this bar. Two pool tables, a mini game room, patio with lots of space and tons of TVs to watch the game or their super selection of awesome movies. Food & and atmosphere was good, but my Martini was not:( I ordered an extra dirty martini, but my martini was so dirty I couldn't even taste the vodka. And the worst of all is that it was served in a rocks glass. And it gets worse... Only one olive.... And for the cherry on top.... It wasn't even on a toothpick! The olive was at the bottom of my glass. I'm a tattooed lady that still enjoys being a real Lady, so....theres a reason why I order a martini, besides a good strong drink, I order it because of the martini glass it's served in. read more

Bender is a very chill place. A little dark in the evening, but solid bar good.

We always come here for booze and on occasion I've had the slidesr before a night of drinking. My gf told me we had to come mid afternoon to have burgers for lunch. I had the Texan burger. I hated this place after Woody's closed and they took over. But guess what? I love it now. The most fabulous thing about this bar are the drink prices. They are phenomenal. And the bartenders are very quick and super attentive as well. They have a great jukebox with a wide variety of music, an awesome back patio and delicious burgers. I can't stay away from Bender, so I can't quite put my finger on why I haven't reviewed it. I guess putting love into words can be hard sometimes, and so can pinpointing what makes a place special: the location, of course; the friendly bartenders; the huge patio; the south Austin feel; the prices; knowing at least one person there almost any time you decide to drop in after dinner or hanging with friends or class. There doesn't seem to be a bad time. The food is good, too, and they are always willing to make it "your way". It's definitely more than your standard bar-fare. If my waitress would quit showing her friends her Kindle and instead ask me whatI wanted to drink I might have given this place 5 stars. The chef special of green chile Mac n Cheese was awesome. Their wings were hot and spicy, but hot damn they must of been made from baby chicks. They are so damn small and really not worth the price. This is a great spot down South! We went for a friends birthday and had a great time. they have everything you woudl want in a bar: An outside area with plenty of tables and room for large parties, they have a great dive bar feel on the inside and a seperate back room (no casting couch) with darts and pool tables. I used to no be a fan of this place until the recent discovery of the patio in back. Personally I thought it was a myth...I was wrong. First time here I didn't like it too much as it was a chilly day and it was colder inside the bar than outside. I go to Bender's once a week for my Cosmo fix and queso-covered waffle fries! The drinks are tasty and stiff! Great bartenders and they must have a chef in the back because everything that I have ordered has always been stellar in the food category. I have had their daily special which was a steak pita with salad - awesome. I have had their chili dog and their chicken tenders with fries - good food, nice amount. Haven't tried the food, but my table buddies all agreed that it kicks Black Sheep Lodges butt. (And I really like their Chicago Dog) The beer is why I come. Well, the beer and that nice big patio out back. I just learned last week that they have pool tables, pinball machines, darts and other bar games. I wish I had known ahead of time, I'm particular about my own darts. Oh well, still a fun place to go drinking :P read more

Good deals and good service. Food is gonna take some time if you order something when the place is packed. It's packed for good reason.

Decided to try this place out for the first time. Ordered a Chili Cheese Dog with their waffle fries. Hope I don't get sick because the Chili was less than warm and the fries were slightly above room temperature. The dog may have been hot at one time but more than likely the chili cooled it off. I could see going here if friends really wanted to go although I would surely not eat there again. read more

I love this bar! Good drink prices, great beer selection, good food (the buffalo burger and tots were so good), and I always have a good time here. The bar staff is friendly, and I always end up in some random, funny conversation with a stranger. This is definitely a "no frills" bar, which is a nice change from all the wanna be "high-end', over-priced, hipsterific bars popping up all over the east side, and Austin in general. I really appreciate the laid-back vibe, and the mix of people. They have a great back patio area, as well. If you like to throw darts, though, I recommend bringing your own, instead of using the bar darts. read more
