I thought this was a cool place at first till you get to know the owner or manager and snitch bartenders who run the place. im sure they arent all bad but the ones we experieced were. Me and my girl had a nice evening and decided to get some drinks. so we come across benders. we ask for a beer and sit down. the bartender then leaves and goes to talk to his manager basically snitching on us that we smell like marijuana. who are they to judge who smells like marijuana and who was this bartender snitch? This is Austin Texas and that was the first time its ever happened to me in my life. We barely smelled like it and we werent causing any harm. People do not get kicked out of establishments for smelling like ciggarettes do they? for smelling like cigars? This is AUSTIN TEXAS I could just not believe what had happened. Its alright we went to the warehouse down the street which was much more accomodating to us. If there is any reason to not go to this place its because the bartenders and management are snitches and just not friendly at all. there is better nieghborhood bars around that area. read more

It's a minor point, but for a bar called Bender, there are a large contingency of straight lines here. Not that it matters. Bender Bar is a no-frills neighborhood joint dropped off of the side of the highway, and the beers are really the stars of the show: loads of choices (I was pleasantly surprised by how many I found), and served up on the cheap. Couple that with some standard issue bar food (wraps as usually healthy options, but alternately staples like fries, fried pickles, burgers, chicken strips and assorted bar-ish whatnot rule the day). It's the kind of place that's tailor made for hanging with friends in that it won't set you back an arm and a leg, the prices are fair and the service is regular and helpful, and not overly so. The jukebox is decent, better than average and downright good in most towns not as jukebox rich as ours. But when you're hanging with friends? The conversations you have here with those make for music all its own. read more

Well. this review is a little late in coming, but I went in on New Years Eve with some friends of my boyfriend (who was out of town). I wasn't really in the mood to go out, but got convinced to go "local" instead of downtown. To be honest, I was a little taken back by driving up to the the strip mall-esque location....but summoned up my strength and went in. Thank God, I didn't judge this book by its cover!!! Bender is just my kind of place on the inside: Big dark bar area, well lit and cozy game room, and best of all a killer patio!!! Instead of rambling on let me list my likes: -Killer atmosphere -Great jukebox -Awesome drink prices -Cool peeps (Definently not many of those downtown A-holes that all girls hate!!!!) -Totally friendly and helpful staff!! Bender is my favorite bar in Austin, TX. The bartenders are fast and friendly, the drink selection and prices are the best I've come across in south Austin and the food is delicious. The game room has quality pool tables, foosball and dart boards as well as arcade games and pinball machines. The whole bar is lined with high quality flat screen TV's playing hit movies on Blu-ray or the latest popular sporting events. The outside area is where I spend a lot of my time even though I have recently quit smoking. They have several quality picnic tables and the staff constantly comes by to pick up glasses and empty ash trays. All in all, the staff and even the customers at Bender make it a warm and friendly place to be, I can't imagine a better place to have drinks, food and good times with friends! Don't trust Kevin H's review, he got kicked out for harassing a woman and I commend the Bender staff for doing so. read more

I always have an incredible time at Bender Bar! The bar staff is exceptional, providing top-notch service throughout every visit. They are friendly, attentive, and make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your time there. Now, let's talk about their burgers and chicken wings. They are absolutely fantastic! The burgers are juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Each bite is a delight, and the variety of toppings and sauces available made it even better. As for the chicken wings, they are always crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The sauces they offer are incredibly tasty and complement the wings perfectly. One of the most mother fucking RACIST bar ever. The people that go to this bar are very very RACIST again anything that has an accent and/or it looks like from another country or if is black. Went with a group of friends to have fun and try their chicken wings and all we got was this type of comments: -Give me my fucking pool stick, I brought it. -Where did you leave your bananas? -You are getting too loud (this redneck guy told me covering his ears..... Strong drinks, smart bartenders and Mrs. Pacman? I love America. Stopped by Bender Bar tonight to enjoy a cold bev before I went home. Despite being seated next to a modern day vigilante, I managed to have some fun. Cool laid back crowd, large portions of food being served and a decent bloody mary. The backroom has an abundance of bar games -- including the aforementioned ms. pacman, pool tables, golden tee, darts, foosball and pinball. No boring night hugging the bar. I wish I lived south so i could be a regular but alas, I'll have to content myself with Barflys and the Hideout :) read more

I did not have anything to eat on a rainy Friday night, so I looked up burger places on Yelp. This place was right near my house. I can't tell you how many times I have driven past this little hole in the wall, finally to come inside tonight. I sat down at the bar and ordered a beer, then a little later, the Spicy BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger. Beer was cold, and the burger was delicious. I mean delicious. I enjoyed the atmosphere. People were friendly. Prices were great. Game machines and music were awesome. I will definitely be back here soon. read more

Bender's has got to be the best bar is south Austin. Their prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is perfect, and they have one of the best jukeboxes in town. They have a seperate area for pool, foosball, and video games as well as an outdoor area if you want to sit outside. The food is pretty good too, and I recommend going with the mini-burgers. read more

If you like the smell of urine with your beer, this is the place for you. OMG. I love a dive bar like anyone else but the owners need to seriously invest in bleach. Like a few football teams full of unmellow- yellow. Head to the patio to reduce the ammonia smell, if not for the scenery of concrete. read more

Bender is my new favorite late night bar. They've got great drink prices, good burgers, though I usually end up there later than dinner time, and a nice outside patio. The jukebox is excellent, too. Throw in a friendly bartender and you've got yourself one heck of a great bar. read more
