This was our second visit, and we enjoyed both the food and the service. However, the restaurant's ambiance leaves something to be desired. The dining room feels overcrowded because the tables are placed extremely close together. My wife and I were seated at a table for two beside a table for four, and the proximity was so close that we felt uncomfortable, almost as though we were part of their dinner conversation. While I appreciate the business realities of running a restaurant, guest comfort should also be a priority. Reducing the number of tables slightly could make a dramatic difference. Considering that several booths were unoccupied between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. on a Friday night, despite being told reservations had the restaurant quite busy, it seems like a reasonable adjustment. read more

Decided to stop in for dinner while in town. This place did not disappoint, and the decor was very cute. Both dishes arrived piping hot and fresh. Even the donuts were made fresh, which I highly recommend -- although I didn't take a picture. I ordered them for dessert with a side of chocolate for dipping. I typically order hot sake in different flavors, but the waiter informed me that flavored options are only served cold, so I went with the original hot sake instead. I was so excited to see Bendi Wok open a location out this way. I went for a happy hour with a friend and the experience unfortunately fell a little short. The TLDR is that I think they are still too new and have some kinks to work out. We were there around 5pm on a Wednesday and it appeared they had 1 server set up to service all the tables inside and outside. We were seated outside with most of the other clientele which had to of been maybe 8 tables, at least 6 of which had customers. Service was slow because of it. It took a long time to order and even longer to receive our drinks (assuming just one bartender). Hopefully they've adjusted their staff schedule since then. We dabbled in a few items from their HH menu including the messy fries, the crab rangoon, and the samurai bowl. Everything fell pretty flat. The bowl could have used more / an additional sauce, the rangoons were almost entirely cream cheese, no crab flavor to be found, and unfortunately my friend found a hair in her fries. To the restaurant's credit, they apologized, offered to replace her food, and then gave her a coupon for a free replacement in the future. I really appreciated their response. Drinks were good and I would definitely return for them. Hopefully the kitchen comes around! read more

A small restaurant that delivers big taste is located just north of the roundabout in New Albany. Plenty of on street parking and there is a free parking lot behind the restaurant that you can also access the restaurant from without going around to the front. The interior is rather modern with a nice Asian flare it's really pretty at night because they created a nice atmosphere with how they have the lighting. (see pictures) We came here rather late (around 9 pm) and weee surprised they still had full service. Great fresh Asian food. The yellow curry with shrimp was excellent. Service was ok but a little slow. We were there on a Sunday night and it seemed they might be understaffed. The location is excellent in the heart of New Albany and the seating area is cute and modern. The smashed cucumbers are an excellent side - light and spicy. Others enjoyed the green curry chicken and the sweet and sour chicken, which came with roasted chicken and not fried making it lighter and delicious. We will definitely be back. read more

I love the German Village Bendi, and used to live in New Albany but just don't get up this way anymore. When I had a hole in my schedule and was in Gahanna, I swung by. In the big development in central NA, not far from the library, right beside Fox In The Snow, this has great food, great service, and a cool space just like the GV location. Maybe slightly bigger, and with a patio, so I'm sure it's hopping at peak times. I got there right when it opened, and chose the sesame chicken and some spring rolls. Yum. One of the best sesame chicken versions I've ever had. Big tender chunks of meat with a slightly sweet sauce, and a teeny zip in there too. Served with rice, broccoli, and carrots. So good. The spring rolls were crispy and filled with goodness, and came with a nice sauce. Excellent service all through, even as other customers started to come in. Easy access from the big back lot (there's a fairly plain entrance there) or the sidewalk out front, through the patio. Some parking there too, but the back is probably easier. Walk past FITS and debate whether to go there before or after. There are some new menu items, that they started with here but have now migrated to the GV location. I think the sesame chicken is one, and some spicy cucumbers which I almost tried and will soon. read more

So I made a reservation for Saturday dinner. Excited for this New Albany location. Plenty of parking spaces. We started with several apps i.e. 1. Crispy Pork - delish with a spice dip. 2. Pork Belly Bao buns - this was a hit as well. 3. Messy fries - looked really messy with different toppings (like kimchi?!) and drizzles of sauces BUT surprisingly goood! Mains: Pepper Steak - tender seasoned with savory/sweet marinade. The only thing I didn't like was that there's way too much spring onions! Bendi Wok N' Bar just opened and I went three days after. Please note that my experience was based on a 7 PM arrival and a lot of chaos. This experience did result in talking to the manager and getting a gift card for the troubles. We arrived at 7 PM for a 7:15 PM reservation and were seated right away. The restaurant is small, but it is set up very cute and vibrant. It seemed very chaotic as when we were seated the waitress was not exactly sure where to put us. We ordered the soup dumplings, which were very good but very small. They are not exactly what I pictured, but I really enjoyed them. My waitress was new and when I was ordering, I asked about what kind of noodles were a certain item and she looked at my menu to kind of read it to see if it gave her any information. This did not give me much confidence as I wanted to know what was not on the page. For my main entrée, I ordered the Bendi Noodle, which were fantastic. It comes with Chicken / Bell Pepper / Onion / Carrot / Bean Sprout / Sesame / Broccoli / Ginger / Scallion / Garlic / Rice Noodles. It did take a little bit to get my noodles as my waitress thought I ordered the soup. No worries, though it was very good after I finally received my food. The biggest thing about this new restaurant is getting it in order so I would give it some time to get it running smoothly. I have very high hopes for this restaurant as the food didn't not disappoint and my leftovers were just as good. read more

Went here on a Friday evening, was seated immediately. The restaurant was very well appointed with a big screen TV playing Sailor Moon cartoons. Server was very helpful as this was our first visit. We got the crab rangoons and the happy hour samurai bowl. Both were delicious. Mrs H got the sticky noodles and I had the General Tso's chicken. The sticky noodles were delicious, the General Tso left a lot to be desired. It tasted like the General Tso you would get at a Chinese buffet. It was not very flavorful and not spicy at all. I have been to the German Village location and had a good time. Went to New Albany and I was so excited for the Bendi soup and spring roll. The excitement ended quickly. The soup was underwhelming with lukewarm broth with completely raw veggies and day old dry tasting chicken. The summer rolls contained a sliver of old cucumber and maybe a carrot (it was questionable), bland shrimp, and was 99% old dry noodles. All wrapped in a terrible thick rice paper. Peanut butter mousse was cool, but not the place or taste for it. Both dishes were wasted. Would probably never stop in or recommend. Closer to 3.5 stars. We ordered like half the menu for carryout. The panang and green curry were very flavorful, the best I've had in Columbus but very dense. The portions were pretty tiny in terms of proteins so then you're left with a bunch of curry sauce and a small scoop of rice. The spring roll seemed like it was thawed from a premade bag. Shrimp bao and chicken potstickers were only ok. The drunken noodles were tasty, but pretty much everything is an msg/ sodium bomb. Edamame were old or from frozen and falling apart. Stopped in on a quiet Sunday for lunch. We made a reservation since there were 6 of us but it wasn't necessary. It's a vibrant but cozy space - not very big but nice! We got the egg rolls for an appetizer which were great. Lots of filling and nicely fried but not greasy at all! The main course took a bit to come out which was off given how quiet it was. I had the pad Thai - very tasty (no spice, with chicken) but nothing super special either. The Bendi Noodles were a hit with another group member! Service was decent but it took our waitress 3 times to get the checks right and she seemed a little annoyed we asked her to fix them. I would say this spot has a more date night or friend hang vibe than a place for kids but it was easy enough to accommodate them. The menu had some good options. We ended up going for the green curry and the Thai fried rice with tofu. The green curry should maybe have a spice warning for sensitive folks and I feel like the fried rice was a little underwhelming. Meh. Second time at Bendi Wok. Decided to give it another chance after an OK first meal. A couple things-- they were very obviously short staffed. We waited at the host stand for five minutes for someone to seat us. Our server was nice enough but we didn't see him much. And, our food took for-ev-er. People who were seated after us got food before us. When the food did come, it was just so-so. I had the soup and it was a touch too sweet. I also had the lettuce wraps and they were salty to the point where they were not tasty. My husband had the green curry. Good flavor but super mushy rice. Neither of us enjoyed it enough to want to go back again. Last thing-- this is personal so maybe some don't mind it but it was SO dark in there. I couldn't see my food. Red overheads and a tiny table lamp weren't quite enough. Nice to have a restaurant in that space again, just wish it was somewhere I was more excited to go read more

We had a late hockey game and wanted dinner after, found they are open until 11p which is awesome. We got there around 930p Saturday with a a warm welcome and got a table immediately. There where about 10 people in the restaurant, the vibe and music are nice, upscale Thai is the feeling. The waitress was great, asked questions and made suggestions. We ordered edamame which was a small bowl but priced right, they weren't the best, kinda soggy but the sauce they came with was spicy and good. We also shared the soup dumplings and those were good also which a chutney type spicy sauce that everyone enjoyed. The cashew chicken, pad Thai, fried chicken steamed buns all got a solid review from my family but the Panang curry (I added chicken) was the BOMB, absolutely delicious and gives Bangkok Thai a run for their money. Full of flavor, veggies and a perfect kick when ordered spice level 1. I see some reviews about small portions, I think they are just right and priced accordingly. We will be back to try other dishes in the future. They also have a little iced tea selection that the kids enjoyed, you can pick the tea 1) black 2)green tea and there was one other along with a flavor for it and add boba if desired. read more

Went to Bendi Wok early on a Friday night -- snagged reservations online first because the restaurant is very small inside and it filled up quickly while we ate. Our server was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable: we asked her for recommendations from the menu, and she was glad to oblige, while also asking us questions to gauge what we were looking for. I was dining with my daughter, and everyone was also attentive to her needs (for instance, asking if we wanted a kids cup or not, or letting us know when certain dishes were spicier than others). We shared eggrolls, sesame chicken, and the sticky noodles, and all were flavorful and fresh. Portions were good but not enormous. The entrees took a little more time to come out than I might've expected, but the restaurant is also fairly new and I think they are still figuring out some of the kinks. The decor was attractive (especially the bar area), but a few tables are right by the door that opens often (and right by the possibly crowded waiting area), so those seem less desirable. Overall we had a good experience and look forward to going back and trying more of the menu, which has quite a variety of options. read more

First time checking this place out before heading back home after visiting family. We ordered the crab puffs and lettuce wraps. Although they seem like they'll never come out, be patient as everything is made very fresh to order. Amazing flavor in both items. The ginger chicken dish is amazing as well. The sweetness of the sauce is incredible, but the spice sneaks up on you. Could definitely have smaller pieces of broccoli and cooked more, as well as more vegetable variety. Overall delicious. When looking for somewhere to eat in New Albany last night I saw Bendi on the map and realized they were new! So we decided to go check them out after being enticed by the menu. I started with the Chai Thai Margarita which was a unique take on the classic drink. I loved the flavors and the garnish was beautiful. My friend had the Cosmo N Wanda which she liked the flavor of, but not the smell. By the end of the meal the foam had a bit of an off smell to it, but it didn't impact the flavor. We shared the Sichuan cucumbers to start. These had some really nice flavor and packed a bit of a heat punch after the fact. The menu calls them smashed but they aren't really, just cut up. I think I would have liked them better in bigger pieces so they wouldn't be quite as spicy. The ones in the bottom that had been in the marinade the longest were too hot for either of us. I had the sticky noodles with chicken for my meal which is essentially pad see ew (my favorite Thai dish). This had amazing soy and ginger flavors and everything was cooked perfectly. My friend had the pad Thai and said it was her new favorite in town. On top of all of this, we had amazing service and I loved the ambiance. So nice to have a new place in the area with great food! read more
