Had a fun time sitting in the bar area for thier happy hour. Drinks were delicious... and strong! Select drinks are $6 for happy hour. Got some wings to go. Very good! Can't wait to return. And try some more food. Menu looks great! Very busy on a Friday around 6pm. The bartenders were so fun and cool and on top of it. Billy Lee's never disappoints. No matter how busy (and they always are) service is friendly and efficient. Food is always served at the correct temperature- perfectly cooked. They never have made any mistakes with my order. My go to is a Thai dish - Basil Shrimp. I order it with no spice but ask for a bit of hot chili oil on the side. I like to control my spice. Cute spot, reasonably priced! If you're going for lunch beware, the parking lot is always crazy crowded because of the cafe in the plaza. I picked up takeout for lunch and it was ready within 10 minutes of ordering. The cashew chicken comes in a good portion size even for lunch. Definitely avoid the wonton soup though, it tasted like dirty shrimp water and had no flavor. I know some places like to add shrimp to their wonton soup, but I didn't see this mentioned on the menu. read more

We Eat LOTS of Chinese & Otger Asian Cuisines, but I've only Yelped a Small Handful of thise Restaurants. We looked up "Chinese in Bexley," and found Billy Lee's, a little hideaway stuck in an old Strip Mall along Main Street. If you were NOT looking for it, you'd very likely miss it. . Luckily, Yelp! delivered once again. . When we entered, we were both struck by the quality of the dining room - it reminds me of the 1970s-style Chinese Restayrants, only without the red lanterns or similarly fashioned LIGHTS that gave so many older restaurants a chintzy feel. No, this is quietly classy. The tables are set at an angle, with a wide walkway between. Each table wears a clean and crisp sheet of white craft paper, like you'd find in high-end Metropolitan Gastro Pubs. . Wow. We really enjoyed that. . We ordered Calimaru, Wor Sue Gai, and Chicken alo amping. The Calamari was quite HUGE, about the size of 3-inch onion rings. It was breaded lightly in a salt-pepper-flour mix that really cried out to be taken up a notch, but it was still quite good. . The Wor Sue Gai came in a very brother white sauce; Chinese Vegetables and Spinach surrounded bits of pressed chicken. It was also really good - about a step above average take-out. . My wife really loved her Lo Mein. It had a little hint of either Red or Black Thai Peppers, and she ordered a "Level 2" heat. It came out like a Thai restaurant; spicy and ready to attack. Still, my wife really enjoyed the soy-marinated Noodles, which were thick and earthy, like a Wheat noodles. . Our bill was very reasonable, maybe even a tad low at $51. We gad a great family celebration last night. We arrived at around 7 and the place was packed. Our party of seven included one person in a wheelchair. The friendly and efficient front of the house staff made us comfortable as they seated us. We ordered seven different dinner dishes and seven different aps. The food came quickly and was still piping hot as it arrived. Vegetables in the dishes were very fresh and not overcooked. Sauces tasted home made. Employees were very nice. Restaurant was clean, could be a cute first date kinda place. It has a little full service bar you can sit at. The food was really good, I had an egg roll, was pretty good, the hot mustard is HOT, it cleared my sinus's instantly LOL. The Happy family was very good, I'm always concerned about any seafood at a Chinese restaurant, but this was fresh, but the sauce in happy family was excellent, wasn't just your typical ol brown sauce. I don't have a picture to right now, but I've had their minced chicken lettuce wraps, spring rolls, crab rangoons, house fried rice, and wor su gai. Everything has been delicious. The flavor is so good you don't need to use their sauces. However, I did pack leftover of the wor su gai for lunch and spilled the sauce in my bag. No big deal. I'll order just order the sauce at lunch since. She said they charge $10 for only the sauce, but the entire lunch is $10.50. Oops!!!! Okay, that didn't happen. I had extra sauce at home and ate peanut butter and crackers for lunch that day. I will add pictures later. read more

Ok so I have a friend that has been raving about this place so I finally decided to check it out and I was pretty disappointed. Apparently I ordered the wrong items at this place. I ordered vegetable lo mein and crab wontons. The lo mein was just ok. I definitely would not order it again. The crab wontons was fried way too hard so I threw it away. My friend said the chicken wings are good but they are not on the menu if you decide to try them. The service was nice. We sat at the bar and talked to the bartender. She was nice. On March 6 around 6 PM, a group of 17 of us went to Billy Lee's Chinese Cuisine in Bexley to enjoy dinner together. Shortly after our food arrived, one of the owners came to our table and shushed us like children. When I respectfully addressed it, she escalated the situation, yelling and telling her brother to plate my food and make me leave. My entire party left in support. Being publicly disrespected by an owner was unacceptable. I remained calm and took the high road, but after this experience, I will never return. read more

Ordered on the phone which is the only way. I had questions about chicken cashew. The menu says sautéed chicken. What i got the first time was not sautéed. The order taker informed me it's made in a wok and that's how they do it. When I asked about a different sauce I was told they have many sauces, she was very busy and didn't have time to go over them. She told me taking too much time. When I went in, she wanted to explain her job to me. I told her I would not be back. Then I had to tell her 3 more times that I didn't want to argue and I wouldn't be back. We had a family of 15 dinner here Sat. night to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday. My folks come here since it isn't too far from home. It was my first time. They accommodated us nicely, and had two people waiting on us. It was a really great dinner. Everyone enjoyed their cocktails, beer, wine, appetizers, and entrees. I chose the Crispy Salmon with Garlic. I took half home and it heated up fine. They have a cute bar up front that I could sit at one day soon. We didn't see any draft beer. We hadn't had Chinese in such a long time and decided to head out Saturday night to one of the local favorites. The service was slow but it wasn't bad service. Just a note, we asked for extra napkins during dinner and we were given one each. They seem to be a bit stingy when you ask for those here. But in truth that was fine, I was just conservative in use. I started with a Vegetable Spring Roll ($2) with sweet and sour sauce and Chinese hot mustard. WARNING.. I pulled it on a bit too much and thought I was going to die. I think I reset my brain but I was ok after a couple minutes. The Spring Rolls are so yummy and crunchy here. Just make sure to give it a second to cool down as I think they bring it straight from the fryer. For dinner, I had the always delicious GENERAL TSO'S CHICKEN ($13.50) - lightly breaded and deep fried chicken chunks, with Chinese peppers and scallions, and glazed with a smooth, spicy sauce served with fried rice. One of my top favorites. My partner had the HAPPY FAMILY ($14.95) - with beef, chicken, and jumbo shrimp. Served with sautéed , carrots, baby corn, snow peas in a rich brown sauce and served with fried rice. It is a great place for lunch or dinner. Consistently good food. I'm not happy! I just drove 40 minutes out of the way to pickup Kung Pao Chicken from Billy Lee's. My friend cannot have water chestnuts, so as you can see by the photo of my receipt, his dish was ordered with no water chestnuts and add green pepper instead - $1.00 extra for 3 small slices of green pepper. Whatever... What ticks me off is that my dish was supposed to be made exactly how it come and the receipt clearly shows that it doesn't say no chestnuts. Believe it or not, water chestnuts add a lot to this dish and without them, I truly don't think it is very good. On top of it, I left a $2 tip for carry out. Not cool. I didn't think this order was too hard to get right, so I didn't double check before leaving the restaurant. I drove 40 minutes back home to make the discover. I'm angry! I won't be back! read more

Nice quiet Neighborhood type place where many people probably walk to from home. Excellent service Food was disappointing. Wife's iced tea was almost undrinkable. Hot and sour soup was ok but was mostly sour very little hot or other flavor. Kung Po was plentiful but just Ok. Little heat little flavor just kind of there. General Tso was a little too sweet but would have been good if it was not mostly fried dough pieces with little chicken. Only had three or four good pieces Best thing was the egg rolls They were excellent If I ever go back I will just get half dozen of them There just aren't many nice sit down Chinese places I have found in Columbus This place deserves another try or two but right now Three stars is about it read more

I can't go five stars yet, not until I've explored the menu further, but: this place is a nice find. I've lived in Columbus for going on 40 years, within two miles of Billy Lee's for almost five, and somehow I've never heard of it til now? Lunch order: sesame noodles (which are harder to find here than you'd expect) and kung po chicken. I was introduced to kung po chicken back when I first started eating Chinese food and found out over the years that I had been very lucky with that first restaurant (now gone but not forgotten). Kung po often gets the generic treatment, lots of brown sauce and an assortment of vegetables. It's *supposed* to be just chicken, peanuts, scallions, and a glaze of soy sauce, black rice vinegar, and Shaoxing rice wine, with Sichuan pepper, hot pepper, garlic, and ginger. This place gets it. There was a bit more sauce than I'd prefer, rather than a glaze that coats the meat, but the chicken was beautifully tender and the flavor is great, with no unnecessary veg added. Generous portion for lunch, I have plenty left over for another meal. Same generosity with the sesame noodles, although I felt like the spiciness could have been bumped up a couple of notches. The portions were more than enough and the drinks we never taste any sweetness just alcohol I don't know if that's a good thing a great thing but, I'm enjoying it. I was very impressed I ran into a local who suggested this place. I haven't had the best experiences with Chinese food lately but this was extremely pleasant. A nice ambience, polite service and a clean bathroom really help. My meal was cooked perfectly, the chicken was the right amount of crispy and if you like it, hot ask for "extra spicy", it was amazing. I sometime wonder if some places have forgotten what that actually means. The Crab Ragoons and chicken egg roll was very enjoyable and they have easily the best hot mustard I've ever had. Their sweet and sour wasn't perfect but I can absolutely forgive that. If I had one complaint it's that what I ordered cam out to $30. I'm ok with paying that if I get what I paid for but because of these prices, If I was a local, I would eat here sparingly I never seem to have money. This is my new favorite Chinese restaurant. Ate here for the first time today. Food was excellent and the staff were super friendly. Ate General Tso's, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Orange Chicken. Would eat all again. Nice menu with choices for everyone. Portions are HUGE and prices are good. Had an egg roll and the Chinese Hot Mustard was the best I've ever had. Over the years you've enjoyed their Lo Mein, Kung Pao Chicken, Mu Shu Pork and Sesame Beef but this time you were craving some Wor Su Gai. It was good. Real good. Almost as good as Ding Ho's, if that means anything to you. You also shared Mark's Chicken Lettuce Wraps and you got a bowl of Hot and Sour Soup - both solid choices. Don't forget to mention that they have a full bar and that they make a really good Mai Tai for those inclined to enjoy an adult beverage. I think you said you'd rate them at 4 stars.
