Classic diner and food, very typical New Jersey diner! Can't go wrong with any breakfast item here. Sit at the bar for the full experience!

They say that NJ has the most diners in the country, so how do we know what's what??? I've driven past the Bendix Diner NUMEROUS times and it oddly draws you in. It's it just a truck stop joint, is it a regular Diner??? We gave it a shot. Inside is VERY dated...... Just my style. Nothing fancy, just come in and sit where you want. Service is an interesting event. The owner, I assume, is also the host, server and bus boy. But what.... He's completely blind and works more efficient than most people I've seen work. He has your order memorized, does the math in his head immediately and is prompt and helpful. The food was off the chart. I got the the meat Supreme omelet and it didn't disappoint. ABSOLUTELY packed and MASSIVE. It came with home fries. I also got a side of corned beef hash but the omelet itself would've been more than enough. We began our Diner tour strong coming out of the gate with Bendix. Stop in, say hi to a John and have a tasty and filling meal!

This gargantuan and gorgeous Veggie and Cheddar omelette with the best home fries ever! Chef Julio is amazing!

There are no accidents. Everything happens for a reason. Picture a diner just a minute from Teterboro airport and 8 miles from Manhattan. Huge delicious portions with the amazing, super sweet and creative chef Julio asking you what you would like as a side dish and how you want your sandwich or burger or omelette. He then suggests this absolutely stellar side of fried rice with mushrooms and broccoli in this special sauce. OMG( photo). Side more like an entree. It gets better. Your host/server/owner is John, who is blind. God blesses us with us gifts and experiences in many, many ways. John is one extraordinary blessing. He is the one of the sharpest, funniest, quickest, kindest, warmest and aware human beings and multitaskers I have met. He greets the customers, picks up menus, jokes with everyone ( wicked sense of humor btw), takes orders mentally, relays them verbatim to Julio, serves them, runs the cc machine, operates the cash register, takes a FedEx delivery from the awesome driver Fred; refills my strong and good mug of coffee, gets me a can of Pepsi and then requests his youngest son Michael to please get the dressing from the kitchen. By the way, this single parent John has raised three amazing boys. The eldest just graduated from Harvard and the youngest Michael starts college in a few weeks. When there is so much love and care, the entrees and the dishes that are prepared by Julio and Mom( John's lovely Greek mother) naturally taste amazing. The portions are huge. Bring your appetite. Meet the regulars who are a blast. Please peruse the latest menu via the two photos uploaded just now. Check out the lovely veggie omelette, the heavenly home fries, the tasty tuna sandwich, the impossible burger, the super fried rice, the Greek omelettes and the French toast n bacon. Pancakes, oh yeah! Hungry? Meet me at the diner at 5:45 am before my weekly flight. My treat. I am not joking. Message me via Yelp. To my dear Yelp friends from NJ and all their friends- Jennifer D, Bill M, Florence, Denise and Christian - love to meet all of you here. Let's do this per our schedules. You really have to experience this atmosphere of love, kindness and fun. What a beautiful reminder in our crazy world. The diner opens at 5:30 am and closes at 8:30 pm on weekdays, a bit earlier on the weekend.

PROS: The staff here is nice while the prices and food selection was plentiful. Everything tasted good and the food came out fast CONS: The place is in dire need of renovation and the parking is scarce. they also just have a one person bathroom and its in a busy intersection so its tough to leave the lot OVERALL: Not crazy about coming back. There are other diners that are bigger and cleaner. I understand this is a historic diner, but im here for the experience, not the age

So one would go to a diner thinking the roast beef would have mashed potatoes. Nah, we dont have them tonight is what I was told. Being from the south, I dont expect everyone to have the southern hospitality, but at least have some hospitality. When someone ask for ice, more than a few pieces is nice. I can say the hasbrowns were the only thing decent. Then I ask for my check, he just gives me a total of $19 for a gyro (ordered because no mashed potatoes), hasbrowns and a can Dr. Pepper, but you can look at the menu and see it's $11.95. So you are telling me tax and a Dr. Pepper is $7.05? I dont think so! I didn't argue with him. I gave him $20 cash and walked out because I knew that I would never be back and I hope that nobody else is either, if you're gonna rip somebody off like that. While the place is cute on the outside, I would NOT recommend it at all. The Gyro barely had any meat on it. In fact, it had more tomatoes than meat. Also, it had sour cream instead of the Taziki (however you spell it) sauce.

Very Nostalgic! Good omelette in an original diner. Good service. 70s ambiance. Greek Omelette.

The Bendix Diner being a NJ Diner.

Classic NJ Diner. Great food, reasonably priced. The grungy surroundings make it classics"eats".

This diner is as classic as they come! What a place. Some would see it as old but I think it has a great charm to it. The staff here are so nice and made the experience even better. My go to at diners is the breakfast and this one is no different. The french toast and omelettes are on point. Loved the greek omelette. Everything is fresh and cooked right in front of you. The sausage links were a nice addition to the meal too. They even have different flavored maple syrups if you are interested. Perfect with the french toast. 5 stars all the way!

We're so glad we did, because this hole in the wall turned out to be a diamond in the rough. With a nondescript exterior and limited signage, Foodies Diner is easy to miss. It's in an area with mainly houses and mixed use commercial buildings, but the space inside is cozy. I especially appreciated the way the owner greeted everyone who enters and thanked everyone who leaves with notable warmth and small-town friendliness. The menu reads like a true diner - with all-day breakfast and brunch options, as well as standard lunch fare. We ordered a Santa Fe salad and an L.A. burger - which comes with avocado, bacon, onion, lettuce, and tomatoes. The burger was pretty standard, but having it delivered on a warm brioche bun feels a little bit special. The accompanying fries were also great - crisp and potatoey on the inside. The salad, on the other hand, was a near triumph. Served on a large platter, there was a small field of well-seasoned chicken, shredded cheddar, vegetables, avocado, pico de gallo, and - best yet - some pieces of warm, toasted pita. I even sprinkled some pieces of bacon from my burger into this salad, and wow did that take it over the top. I dug into this salad with fair gusto and would absolutely come back for it...which is saying something, since I wouldn't expect to fall in love with a salad at a diner. Service was fantastic, and we were pleased with how reasonably priced our meal turned out to be. There's plenty of parking - either right out front or in the lot further back.

It wasn't until the 17th century that this meal became a more common practice, especially among the wealthy, who would have rich dishes like scrambled eggs alongside coffee and tea in the morning. The Garden State is still known as the diner capital of the world. Located off Essex Street in Hackensack, this establishment is one of the handful of 24-hour diners. With its unique harlequin decor, Chit Chat remains a chic, upscale diner that we frequent often with friends and family. Upon arrival this morning, my partner, his family, and I were greeted by the staff at the host station, and we were able to get a table quickly. The menu was extensive, and we took our time looking but did not feel rushed. Their menu includes a lot of things one may not find on a regular menu. We decided on their brunch menu and ordered Raspberry & Brie Stuffed French Toast, Santorini Benedict, Bro-Nana Cocoa-Nuts Multigrain Pancakes, and Chorizo Hash & Eggs with a choice of a complimentary mimosa, bloody Mary, or Bellini. The food is always fresh and tastes delicious. The portion is healthy and the prices reasonable. The service is consistently fast and friendly. Our server was Ashley. They took the card and came back with a credit slip that showed a total of $86 something after taxes - and didn't bring the itemized bill back (which is standard practice at every restaurant I have ever been to) -- obviously so that I wouldn't notice the discrepancy. I added a tip and paid thinking I had misread the original bill, but then realized I was pretty sure I hadn't, so I requested a copy of the bill (which they should have given me for my records in the first place. Sure enough, the amount on the bill was $82 not $86. I pointed this out and they tried to gaslight me, saying I must' be mistaken about the credit slip. Only after I insisted that they show me the credit slip I had signed did they say "oh yes, we charge extra for using a credit card." I know some places do that these days, but (1) if there was fine print on the menu indicating they do this it certainly wasn't prominent enough (2) the bill should have had a notice there was an extra charge for paying with card (3) not returning the bill with the credit slip shows that they were counting on my not noticing (4) gaslighting me that I must have been wrong about the credit slip instead of simply saying "oh, that's the credit card charge" is really sleazy (5) the actual discrepancy was more than the 3% they claimed was the charge for using a credit card. I wouldn't really care that much about the fee if they were straightforward about it, but I really object to this kind of underhanded behavior. It left a bad taste in my mouth. We won't be back.
