The server also came over and took our order right away. I ordered a cappuccino and Oreo pancakes with scrambled eggs and sausage. My son ordered a cheeseburger deluxe. My girl ordered a Cuban chicken sandwich and my little son got a side of sausages. The food came out right away. The food was really good and tasty. We enjoyed ourselves. Food was decent, not great. Big portions. Be warned - they mildly scammed me at the end of the meal. They brought a bill with a total after taxes of $82 something, and I handed over my card. They took the card and came back with a credit slip that showed a total of $86 something after taxes - and didn't bring the itemized bill back (which is standard practice at every restaurant I have ever been to) -- obviously so that I wouldn't notice the discrepancy. I added a tip and paid thinking I had misread the original bill, but then realized I was pretty sure I hadn't, so I requested a copy of the bill (which they should have given me for my records in the first place. Sure enough, the amount on the bill was $82 not $86. I pointed this out and they tried to gaslight me, saying I must' be mistaken about the credit slip. Only after I insisted that they show me the credit slip I had signed did they say "oh yes, we charge extra for using a credit card." I know some places do that these days, but (1) if there was fine print on the menu indicating they do this it certainly wasn't prominent enough (2) the bill should have had a notice there was an extra charge for paying with card (3) not returning the bill with the credit slip shows that they were counting on my not noticing (4) gaslighting me that I must have been wrong about the credit slip instead of simply saying "oh, that's the credit card charge" is really sleazy (5) the actual discrepancy was more than the 3% they claimed was the charge for using a credit card. I wouldn't really care that much about the fee if they were straightforward about it, but I really object to this kind of underhanded behavior. It left a bad taste in my mouth. First time back to this diner in four years, and I had the most delicious burger ever! They have a massively huge menu so it's really hard to decide what you want. Plus their portions are very large. I came here with breakfast in mind on a Monday at 11:30 AM, but when I saw the rock 'n' roll burger I decided I had to go for it, and I was glad I did. It came with lettuce, tomato, onion, lots of bacon, and blue cheese crumbles. You could assemble the burger yourself and make it as fat as you desired. It was a half pound patty cooked perfectly to medium and the bun was nice and soft. You could also get a tiny cup of coleslaw and a pickle on the side if you requested it. It came with french fries and two large onion rings. It was absolutely worth the $16.95. Service is always efficient here because they do get busy. Keep in mind that if you pay by credit card there will be a 3% service charge on your bill and that's not always evident upfront. I paid cash. I got a cold brew coffee, just an iced black coffee and I got a refill on that for free so that was nice. They have a parking lot and there is also parking on the side neighborhood streets. Their desserts look outrageous, but I've always been too full to try them. There is also a full bar here & the menu like I said is so big that I believe there will be something for everyone's palate. Came here with my friends. The atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful from the various murals to the mini train moving on the track on the ceiling. My meal of the gyro platter was great. From the Greek salad to the to the tasty cooked meat. It was definitely a fulfilling meal and very plentiful. I had the Biscoff cookie butter shakes was super good. After coming here for takeout many years ago, we decided to FINALLLLY dine in for the very first time recently ...... ANDDD we were quite surprised with how good our experience was here. We dropped in at around 6pm on a chilly Friday evening and I always knew that this diner, with a mini putt putt establishment looking exterior, was decently spacious, but when we sat down, it felt EVEN bigger with the split layout where it felt like there were 2 dining rooms - one on each side of the main entrance. We ended up getting seated in the dining area to the right of the entrance, which seemed to be the more "entertaining" side. Not only was there a large screen TV on the wall, which our kids actually had no interest in since it was showing the news, BUTTTT there was an overhead toy train going around above our heads, which kept our kids quite entertained during our meal. As for the menu, as you'd expect, it's your typical diner menu - heavy emphasis on breakfast items, but lots and lots and LOTS to choose from. I ended up with Two Over Medium Eggs with Corned Beef Hash served with Home Fries and Toast. My better half got Steak and Over Medium Eggs with Home Fries and Toast. As for the kiddos, we went with the Kids Silver Dollar Pancakes and Kids Grilled Cheese with Smiley French Fries with both Kids meals including 1 drink or 1 dessert. Verdict? VERY, VERY good food. I'll be the first to admit that I can be just as harsh on diners as I am on "regular" restaurants. I hold them to just as high of a standard on their food, especially breakfast since they probably have had eons to perfect it. The missus and I realllllly enjoyed our individual breakfast plates. I've been to some diners where I've thought that I might as well have cooked the breakfast myself, BUT NOT HERE. The egss, corned beef hash and home fries were excellent from my plate and the steak was very tender from my wife's pick. Typically, I'm not a fan of home fries b/c the quality is really inconsistent from diner to diner, but I loved that they fried it to a crisp here. As for service - pretty good. Our waitresses were friendly and the food came out quick. The parking lot in the back is huge, so there's plenty of parking and the diner never really got extremely crowded, but it was still pretty busy that evening. Stopped in on a Sunday morning around 8. Extensive menu, but the kids menu was a bit of a let down. Pancakes were the only option on there for breakfast. A egg and sausage option would have been great. We waited a while to order while numerous staff glanced out direction and continued to serve the other 4 tables near us. We had to get up to get someone to come take our order, apparently the person didn't show up whose section it was - too bad that doesn't excuse the fact that other staff saw us sitting and didn't inform anyone. It's my go-to diner when I'm in town visiting my family. Gotta have the Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on a Kaiser roll. Service is always quick and friendly. Coffee is great. When you get home fries, be prepared for an enormous portion! Like a pound of potato slices on a plate, enough for two people! I just wish I could get them extra crispy, the entire portion. Service as usual sucks. It's just a jersey theme I guess. I had eggs over medium crispy home fried toast and avocado. And a burger deluxe. Burger didn't seem " Angus " my breakfast was descent. No turkey bacon. So I ordered turkey sausage. Which sucked ass. Soup was excellent. I would give four stars if they just seasoned things better. My niece had the penne vodka which was tasty and filling! My daughter didn't like the boneless buffalo wings she complained it was too crispy and not well seasoned. First, ambiance and service were good, except the server got my order wrong. It was corrected quickly. Breakfast food was great a few weeks ago. Their eggs & home fries were yummy (I tasted real butter). Today we went there for lunch. My hot open roast beef was average and the meat was somewhat fatty. They had no baked potatoes so I ordered fries - big mistake. I tasted oil and it wasn't very good. My partner had a turkey wrap with fries - same issue with the fries. The turkey was ok - average. Coleslaw wasn't the best. My partner also ordered the French Onion soup. It came to the table covered with frizzled fried onions. As they got removed it took some of the cheese with it. The broth could have been better as well. We'll try this place again - for breakfast. We were disappointed with our lunch. read more

A simple chicken wrap (costing over $20 including tip!) could not have been worse tasting---with dried-out chicken, no dressing given, and a clump of spinach out of a salad bag wedged into the tortilla wrap, not even mixed in with the chicken! When we called to report that the takeout order, which was for an elderly patron who was unable to come to the restaurant in person, was not edible, Saddle Brook Diner's owner/manager proceeded to insult us for calling! This establishment treats elderly patrons like garbage, and doesn't care one iota about the quality - or lack of quality - of what is served. We threw away our money, and there was zero appreciation for our patronage in trying to support a local establishment. The public, and senior citizens in particular, deserve better than this! Overall, this place is a decent, typical diner. The food is decent (not amazing, but not bad)! The service was good and our waitress was attentive to our table. We went for breakfast, and I got the Mexican Chilaquiles and overall it was good. What I loved the most was the ambiance! The decorations do have quite a bit going on, but it gives you a lot to look at. I enjoyed the two trains on their tracks around the first main room that you walk into (the trains are pretty close to the ceiling).
