Eowyn was an excellent guide; they were extremely knowledgeable and answered so, so many questions about the city, the underground, the history of how it all came to be, just across the board helpful. (You do spend a decent amount of time above ground on this tour, as you view how the city changed over time; the focus is on the underground even when you're up top, however, so it all links together). I felt that there was interesting facts about the underground, but it was just alright? I was hoping that there was more or at least everything was connected, but that was the history. Mostly though, you would find yourself underneath the streets and basically in basements. Our tour guide was great though, knowledgeable about everything Seattle and the historic aspects. We did the red light district underground tour, and I have to say though it wasn't that crazy. I would have hoped there was going to be more to the history or something more visual when it came to the underground portions. I would say it was a bit more of a let down than what it was hyped up to be. I would say though, the past of Seattle and the underground portion was mostly all renovated so it's not like you'll see something from the super far past and everything that was left as it was. My experience was that I smelled mold and just damp basements, so I would highly suggest if you have allergies or allergic to mold to probably stay away from these tours. Overall, it was alright. Would I choose the red light district over a different type of tour? Not really, but if you're interested in a city's history this would be a neat experience for the family or for those who love history in general. read more

Saw this place on Expedia as an add on excursion. Sounded interesting so I booked us. You go downstairs and there is a meeting area where the tour starts and also a gift shop (the tour ends a few blocks away, so you might want to grab a few things prior). You start in the meeting area, go downstairs than up again and walk a few blocks. Even though there is a bunch of tunnels, they aren't connected, so you go up and down a couple times. It's an interesting tour and our guide knew the city well. I'd absolutely recommend this to anyone interested in history or even just the city in general. read more

The tour was just fine. We did the red light district one. The tour guide (Mike?) was a good storyteller, but I do feel like there wasn't much underground? I guess some of the underground are now part of the newer buildings, so it just feels like going into the basement and looking at pictures. We bought the tickets on the website. But some people in our tour group bought it on Groupon for a cheaper price. So check that first before buying on the website. read more

Took the night time tour and it was definitely worth it. I actually had no idea what the underground of Seattle was until taking this tour. Very interesting history of Seattle given as well our tour guid was well informed, was patient and answered everyone's questions and was even open for recommendations of bars and restaurants after the tour. read more

Underground cities are something that really excite me and are intriguing to learn about. When I heard that Seattle had an underground city tour I knew that I had to join in. We arrived at the address about 30 minutes early and were worried because there was a lock on the door and no sign of any staff. However, about 15 minutes before the tour was supposed to start someone came up and opened the doors. Phew, close one. We then plunged deep into the underground of Seattle where we checked in and were able to look around at some of the history and art pieces. There were seats set up in a half circle where the tour started off and the guide introduced himself and went over some rules. I absolutely loved this location and feel that it was the most legitimate guide to take of the underground city. Dave was our gracious, comical and knowledgeable tour guide! He really dove into so many different things as well as guiding us through the city of Seattle today and what it is known for. I liked that he was straight up and called out other tour companies for giving false information and basically just doing it for the money. I did enjoy this tour and all the information we were given, but I thought that we were going to be underground more. However, Dave explained that a lot of the underground city is not connected anymore so that's why most of the tour is above ground and outside. Overall, this tour was worth the money and make sure to tip your wonderful tour guide at the end! read more

Fun and informative tour. Our guide, Richard, was entertaining and witty. For example, we learned the origins of the terms "skid row" (not what I thought) and "speakeasy," and found out how Seattle was named. We did the 4:30 tour because we thought it would be spooky at night. Unfortunately, it turned out to be scarier than we thought when the tour went outside in Pioneer Place after dark -- at times it was like a scene from a post-apocalyptic horror movie because of the addicts and mentally ill ranting and shuffling around. This situation is of course out of the tour company's control and is not reflected in my rating. I just want people to be prepared. read more

We went in the first tour of the day on a weekend with Dave. They limit their tours to 20-25 people. It's a fun way to spend an hour or so while visiting Seattle, and I learned quite a bit, although I can't say I knew a lot about Seattle to begin with. They have access to two portions of the space beneath the streets, and photos of old prints that help to visualize what the guides are saying. Apparently it's a little different with each tour guide. It's near several other tourist sights, so one can easily make a day of it walking around in the area. read more

The tour cost $20 and runs for 1 hour. The first 5 to 10 minutes is sitting on benches listening to the tour guide provide an intro/background on the history of Seattle and the tour. The rest of the tour is a mixture of above ground and underground sites, with a lot of info provided by the tour guide. I'll admit that I was bit taken aback as I thought the entire tour would've been walking a long stretch underground. Instead, there wasn't too much walking underground. HOWEVER, I still loved this tour as I LOVE to learn about the history of places and Seattle has a really cool history. That's also why I really appreciated our tour guide as she was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of the group's questions. She also shared some very very cool tidbits along the way. If you are a history buff, you will enjoy this tour. Being able to see and touch the decades old construction is awe-inspiring. And seeing the underground speakeasy was really cool. read more
