Since I'm new to the hood and no longer go to my regular SMOG station, I had to look for an alternative. At the same time, I was in search for a place I can go to regularly and I think I just found it here at Benicia Auto Care Center (BACC). Nothing beats the feeling of doing business with good people. Nick at BACC is one cool guy. You will immediately feel that he is running an honest business based on how he treat his customers. He went over my carb legal documents with a visual inspection and gave the green light. Then after, I parked my car on the dyno and it was done within minutes. I'd say no more than 15 minutes but probably less. I've strictly only used BACC's SMOG test service, but I'd like to mention that they also provide other services as well. The shop sits on the corner of E Military and E 5th St so you can't miss it. Also, if you are into fishing bring a pole because they got some good fishing spots close by. read more

We've taken two vehicles to Benicia Auto Repair Center and have been shocked at the high level of care and honesty they put into their work (so many bad experiences with price-gouging, dishonest mechanics have left me jaded). I took one vehicle in for an oil change and for a concerning squeaking noise. They adjusted my brake shims, noting that they might be the cause of the issue and changed my oil. Squeaking stopped and no charge for the labor to fix the issue! Other vehicle required more extensive repairs and the employee at the front desk has gone out of her way to help us find the best deal on parts on the internet. She went above and beyond and has amazing customer service. Prices are very reasonable and they don't try to upsell you services you don't need. Honest and just all around great mechanics. In fact, they warned me that I wouldn't pass the smog test one year because of an engine light issue and didn't charge me a cent (others would've just run the computer check and would've taken my money and failed me before saying a word--this has happened to me in the past at other auto repair places). Only downside--they get very busy because they're very popular. That said, it's worth it, and there's a good reason for their popularity. After two visits I have to leave a review. This place is top notch. First visit I told them the "brake service" light was on in my 2006 Chevy truck. They gave me a quote for three possibilities: front brakes, rear brakes, or both. Am they called me after just a couple hours and told me it was just a bad sensor, charging me just few bucks. My alternator was not charging my battery on my Subaru Outback and so the battery was completely drained and would no longer hold a charge. Since it was a remanufactured alternator that failed after only 9 months, Bee and/or Kim was able to get the parts house to replace it for free under warranty and they installed it. Rather than trying to sell me a new battery, Bee gave me my old battery to take back to where I bought it, so that I could get the one year old battery replaced for free under warranty. When I went to pay Kim for their diagnosing, removing and replacing the alternator and battery, she said "no charge." When does a car repair shop ever do that? They prove themselves to go the extra mile for customers and to be capable, caring and honest. I will be a repeat customer. read more

I Just finished up here and received great service. Bee seems very honest and Hard working. In total my needs were completed in 2 hours for oil change, safety inspection, etc. which was fine because it's about a 10 minute walk from downtown Benicia where they have cafes and shops. DO NOT TAKE UR CAR OR UR KIDS CARS INTO THIS BUSINESS! I had a check engine light I had to get turned off and I asked the people at the shop if they could diagnose what I needed to fix it. The next time I went to see my car was to take it home because they did nothing in the time allotted. When I tried to start the car, it didn't even start. The mechanic forgot to tell me he drained the coolant. So I get out and pour coolant in and try again and it almost certainly feels like he blew my head gasket in the time he had my car. Whatever you do, avoid this place like an STD cause it's way dirtier than most. read more
