I can't say enough about everyone in this auto repair shop, even Brandi at the front office. Manny just worked on my 2001 Audi Allroad. He installed a new radiator and did an extraordinary job . I say that because I've gone to many, many Audi shops, (ones that advertise they "Specialize" in Audi's) but they can't do the repair or can't find the part? and keeps my car for days!!! without contact. And another Audi shop did unauthorized work!!!...But Not at Collaco they call or text you with updates and are pretty much on their timing unless there was an issue with a part that was previously ordered. But by the time they contact you they've already figured all that out. So they inform you of the issue and the solution and a new promise time. This review is just on their customer service not physical work. I called in the other day asking if my car could be towed there last minute and right before closing. Angelo and his team were very kind. My car didn't start so they had no problem pushing my car once it was off of the tow truck into a spot. The next day they were able to get back to me about what the issues were for the car before noon. On my end I was trying to figure out my plans there were very patient with me and allowed me to keep the car another night. I not having any service done by them, they still openly helped out when the tow truck arrived to help load the car up. read more

Don't normally (or ever) leave reviews, but there's a first time for everything. I have a 2010 VW EOS which started experiencing a few problems. After consulting two other shops for some major repairs, car still wasn't running correctly. Sputtering and random stalling persisted, which was scary for me as a 70 y.o. woman who only knows how to fill up the gas tank. Having lost confidence in the first shop and their excuses, I tried a second opinion with another shop where I've taken my car before who specialize in German cars. His estimate came to $8000!! Thought that was ridiculous but what do I know. Out of desperation, looked through an old school Yellow Pages phone book and found Collaco Auto Repair. Short story -- they literally saved me thousands, recommended only what was needed, not the fairy tale wish list of $8000 and gave my car a very thorough diagnosis so I felt reassured there were no hidden problems lurking in the car or have unexpected surprises. The $8000 work wasn't even necessary! It's only been a week, but what a difference! Car has power again and no sputtering. Everything is running normally in tip top shape. I feel confident driving again. I'm so grateful to the entire team there -- not only for their professionalism, and obvious expertise in car repair by being able to diagnose the problem so quickly, but also for their honesty, kindness and empathy. Took the time to explain what is causing the problem and listened to my concerns. As busy as they were, they still took the time to treat me as if I were the only customer and cared about me. After being scammed by Nissan autocom I felt lost trying to find a new mechanic shop that I can trust. I was recommended to try this shop out and I couldn't be happier. I came in with my Nissan Altima and they were happy to help with replacing my ac compressor. They ordered a new compressor for my car and it came in the same day as the repair. Took close to a hour and now my ac blows ice cold. They also recommended repairs I may need in the future but didn't push it on me which I like. Compared to the auto repair shops in Antioch, this shop is the best in our area! My husband and I had a nightmare experience with a shop in Antioch, who installed a breathalyzer incorrectly. When we needed the device recalibrated, I found Collaco Auto Repair and what a refreshing experience. They are professional, honest, affordable, and provided excellent customer service. When we needed an appointment asap, they told us to come in at any time and they would get it done. They did and in less than 30 minutes. By complete chance I bumped into Marcos at my work. We got to talking and he told me about his shop. I own a 2010 TDI Jetta that had the emission fix completed and thought the car was on it's last legs. 160k miles on it. It was a very dependable car, great mileage. It needed a lot of work to keep it in the family fleet. The car had only gotten factory maintenance since I bought it, but the dealer is getting a little ridiculous with their prices. I took a chance and brought it down to Marcos and Angelo and I couldn't be happier. The dealer was telling me I needed new brakes, Angelo gave me the honest appraisal of the brakes and that I didn't need new ones! Oil change, timing belt. factor scheduled maintenance etc. Marcos even gave me a ride home after I dropped off my car. Right to my front door. They kept me appraised of the entire process of repair and service and were flexible with pick up. No hidden fees or up-charging, fair honest pricing with quality work from certified VW technicians. These guys aren't Jiffy Lube techs that opened a shop, they are trained by Volkswagen with years of experience working on these cars. Very impressive professional pedigrees. And last but not least these are just good guys. They are friendly, professional and courteous. No more VW Dealer for me. I'll be seeing Angelo and Marcos for all the work I need on this car. Last week my 2012 vw check engine light came on and took car to Collaco Auto Repair in Martine. Diagnosed and received estimate of $668. Problem was low on transmission oil and almost empty. Tec advised that I need a DSG oil & filter change. I agreed to go ahead with repair and when I pick up my car and invoice had repair cost and diagnosed fee of $150. I did not understand why there was a diagnosed fee when I agreed to repair, requested to waive the fee charge and was denied. To get oil and filter change on my vehicle was over $500. I called VW dealer and received estimate of DSG oil & filter change they quoted me $425 + tax. We use small business to save money and looking for friendly service, but instead I got ripped off. read more

Brought my E30 in for a Diagnostic check, since my car was misfiring. I had already suspected clogged fuel injectors, since I had pretty much replaced several parts on the car. I came in here for verification and to see if they knew their stuff, since they advertise as European car specialist. As a helper to the techs I left a lengthy note on the windshield to communicate what has been replaced, fixed and what has not. After two weeks of diagnosing or rather the car being parked outside. They texted me to see if they could double charge me the diagnosis fee since they needed more time with the car. Instead I suggested a valve adjustment, so I can get my car out of there and avoid paying the diagnostic fee, which was a huge mistake, I should have just paid the diagnostic fee, in which they never found out what was wrong with the car. The car is an older model and none of the techs knew how to adjust valves on an E30, so they informed me they were going to bring in a senior tech to work on the car. After another week I got called in to pick up the car finally, immediately after paying I turned on the car and heard clicking sounds coming from the engine. Turns out the tech misadjusted my valves from before, and did not adjust them in firing order, instead adjusted them all in numerical order, not in firing order. I wanted to go back and ask to see how they adjusted the valves but instead I'm writing this review. The next day I took the car to meineke, within the hour they told me what I had suspected, clogged fuel injectors, (without any notes or anything) I got new fuel injectors, oil change, new control arm bushings in two days, and for a very cheap price, I already had the parts in the trunk so it was just the labor work. My suggestion is don't bring old European cars to this place, as they don't know how to fix them, although older models are way easier to work on than newer models, so not sure why the messed up on a simple valve adjustment, where it's all labor, takes like 30 minutes. read more

I paid a lot of money to have some electrical issues straightened out. After picking up the car it seamed better but soon after I lost my tail lights, dash, and reverse lights. I brought the car back but they wouldn't stand by their work, all I heard was excuses and they wanted nothing to do with me. I took it to another shop in Lafayette and basically everything they did had to be redone plus they made some improvements which Collaco said couldn't be done (it's an older classic). Very disappointed, the car is perfect now but for double the money I should have spent. They're real friendly until you come back with an issue, then they want you gone ASAP. These guys seem pretty solid. I called in on a Friday afternoon to see if I could bring my Audi s4 in on Saturday for an oil change and a rear brake light replacement. They set up an appointment for me to bring it in first thing in the morning at my request. When I showed up, they gave me an estimate on how long it would take to finish, and then gave me a ride back to my house to wait until they were done. They finished up pretty quickly, and I was back on the road before noon. Prices seemed fair. I haven't taken my car to a dealership, but I think I'd prefer to take it to these guys if I have any issues in the future. read more

Been going to Angelo and Marcos for a few years now. They've worked in four of our cars. I won't go anywhere else. Here's a good example. Took my Honda to the dealer and they swore my brakes were totally down to 1mm and if I didn't replace them soon, I would be in trouble. To the car to Collaco and they said the brakes were fine and I had some time before they needed to be replaced. I still had 3mm on them. No BS from these guys. Decided to pay to get my valves adjusted here, but job was poorly done, as the valves are still clicking. I will have to readjust them correctly before harm is done to the engine. The car is an older model which is actually easier to adjust than newer models not sure what went wrong here, wasted money, don't bring older model cars to this shop as they are not familiar with the vehicle and wont do a good job. Will be better doing it yourself. read more
