I paid $55 for a $5 meal at best. The food was warm and on the cooler side of warm. We literally live within city limits, so no, it wasn't due to travel time. There were pieces of overcooked chicken just thrown on the rice, not inside of it was prepared and cooked they way they normally cook it. It's like they forgot to add the chicken to the chicken fried rice, so they grabbed a few pieces, literally, and just threw it on the top. Pure laziness! The noodles, same thing with the shrimp. Pieces of shrimp cut in half to make it look like more shrimp. Ridiculous! And the portions, half of what I should have got. Terrible. Just mad bad service in my opinion. I went to celebrate my birthday with my husband and three kids, and I can confidently say we will never be returning. I truly regret not going to the Cheesecake Factory right across the way instead. From the moment we sat down, our waitress, Sasha, treated us like we were a bother. She had a visibly pissed-off expression the entire time, gave attitude to the chef, and was completely dismissive toward us. The energy she gave off made us feel like we were an inconvenience. She ignored my son multiple times while he tried to order a simple water -- I had to ask three times before she finally brought it. She kept repeating, "Sorry, we're really busy," as if that excused her rude behavior. The chef seemed overworked and didn't put on a show, which was disappointing since that's a big part of the experience. To make matters worse, they sat us with a couple who were clearly intoxicated and kept ordering drinks without being cut off. The couple eventually started arguing and cussing right in front of my children. No one intervened. Instead, Sasha rushed us to leave, even though my daughter hadn't finished eating, and stood nearby while my husband paid a $300 bill. While Sasha stepped away briefly, the cook asked us for a cash tip, saying Behihana doesn't allow them to receive tips otherwise. When Sasha returned, she mistakenly handed our to-go boxes to the fighting couple. The woman began arguing with her, and instead of handling the situation professionally, Sasha gave the cook a dirty look, as if it were his fault. I called the following Monday to file a complaint and was told the general manager would call me back. It's been three weeks, and I've heard nothing. What a mistake to eat at Benihana in Arcadia tonight. My group of three and another family of five sat down and was greeted by a waiters assistant. She took our drink orders and insulted all of the mature adults that were well over 50 years old asking for their ID to order alcoholic cocktails. From there everything went downhill. 1. She took all of our orders and we were very concise with what we wanted. Me and my family as an example ordered the fried rice and add fresh garlic. 2. When the hibachi chef came out and started to cook I can tell that he was following the corporate line of food portioning., he also was missing the food for one of the eight meals ordered. * 8 pieces of zucchini placed on the grill along with approximately 2 cups of chopped onion. By the time they were cooked each person received 10 small pieces of zucchini and about 1/4 of a cup of onion. No one received the mushrooms that should've come with the meal and was on the menu. *Another gentleman and I ordered our chicken to be teriyaki style. The chef forgot to put the teriyaki on the chicken while it was cooking and poured some teriyaki sauce on the chicken once it was plated. What a joke. * in addition to the teriyaki steak, the Cook divided one chicken breast into three very small portions. Everyone knows each person should get a separate breast cooked for them. This did not happen. * After the fried rice was prepared and put into separate bowls, my wife did not get her fried rice because they didn't cook enough. Rather than cooking more the cook asked the waiter to go get fried rice from the back instead. What my wife received was a bowl of pasty fried rice with some nasty looking chicken on top. * I also ordered their hibachi New York strip steak. I received a steak that wasn't more than 4 ounces. * The customary Teppanyaki mushroom soup, was flavorless. When the eight of us told the manager all of the problems, he attempted to explain why all this happened.BIG MISTAKE! The manager took 20% off of the checks. Another insult. The restaurant either should've comped the meal 100% or at a minimum take 50% off. I will never go to another Benihana! If you are in Arcadia or Pasadena go to Tokyo Wako. It was super packed and we waited like 20 minutes, but it was okay since the mall is nearby anyways. The experience is nice, the chef cooks the meal in front of you and you get a cool show. Depending on which chef you get, the show might be super impressive or good anyways. I had the hibachi steak and my girlfriends had the scallop. The food was quite tasty and ordering the one thing for both of us was definitely enough. Everything is quite flavorful and it includes tea, soup, salad, rice, meat, and I might be missing what else. But it's cool that they sing you a birthday song! The parking is good if you're coming in a weekday, but if not you'll be parking in the back unless you're lucky.
