First off, I hate yelping businesses, but after our experience I had to. Went for dinner , super busy so we decided to sit at the bar and have dinner. Everything was great until the food came out. First thing, two of use ordered dishes that were supposed to be filet mignon. They were not, very tough and chewy, most likely ribeye or flank steak. I would be very careful and inspect your meat if you order filet away from the usual hibachi grill. I feel they tried to substitute it out and hoped we wouldn't know the difference. I called them out on it and they did finally bring the filet. Second thing, everything had too much pepper on it , visibly. Our chicken , the fried rice and even the meat they tried to pass off as filet. This was the worst Benihana food experience. Do not recommend eating here, at least at the bar. The hibachi grill could be different, I haven't eaten there nor would I go back to try it based on recent visit. Good luck! read more

My family and I came to Benihanas to celebrate our son's school accomplishment. Our experience at the restaurant was great thanks to Ray, our chef. From the moment he fired up the grill, Ray brought incredible energy, skill, and personality to the table. His knife work was impressive, his timing was perfect, and he made the entire cooking process entertaining and interactive. Not only was the show fantastic, but the food was also absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection, the fried rice was flavorful, and the vegetables had just the right amount of crunch. Ray clearly knows his way around the grill and takes pride in what he does. Plus he's great with kids! If you're visiting this location, I highly recommend asking for Ray. The combination of showmanship, and excessively buttery garlic chicken fried rice is costly, but none the less , worthwhile. Sure, the food is not the best, price is somewhat high, and the show is meh... but combine the three and you get a dinner that encourages an engaged audience, that makes them put down their ever so important cellular devices. We had a good time here. I won't be back for a while because of the greasiness..... but will definitely be back. It's a wonderful place for kids. read more

I've been to a couple of other Benihana locations, and this one is probably the best one. It's still new, because I remember it use to be a different restaurant, and this Benihana seems to be the cleanest as well. We celebrated our mom's birthday here, and the food was delicious! The waitress was very attentive, along with our personal cook, who imo tried hard to crack funny jokes while he was cooking. He was a bit all over the place from his jokes, but very humorous. He put on a good show with some of his tricks. The food he prepared and cooked for us was tasty. But just too much butter on everything. But I understand taste is everything, and most importantly not burning the food. We ordered steak, jumbo shrimps, scallops, and chicken. The steak was cooked perfectly from medium rare, to medium. The scallops was delicious, as it was flavored with seasoning, and the shrimps were perfectly sliced, seasoned and cooked. However, the chicken breast was a bit too dry... which is fine because it can't be undercooked. We had Piña Coladas, Piña Margaritas, Old Fashion Whiskey too. They were only $8 each, since they're still celebrating Saint Patrick's Day. The Whiskey and the rum for our drinks was not too overwhelming, but a bit on the lighter side. But $8 for a cocktail is a deal! Service again was very good. The waitress was very attentive, and she and a another waiter sang a birthday song for my mom, and I thought it was hilarious. Thank you, my mom enjoyed the humor. Overall, I had wonderful experience. Only parking was a bit difficult. There was a lot of people at the mall during that time. Not necessarily a 5 stars experience, but I'll give 5 stars because my mom was happy, and our cook tried hard. read more

Food was absolutely delicious. My husband and I ordered Seafood Diablo and our children ordered the steak and chicken. Everything was so tasty. Service, on the other hand, was a little disappointing. I noted on my reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary and that we had a nut allergy. When we got seated, the server asked if we were there for a special occasion. Then, when we placed our orders, the server asked if we had any food allergies. Terrible service. I made those notes on the reservation, and so I expected them to know. What is the point of having those options when you won't even acknowledge them. The teppanyaki chef came and repeated our orders to make sure they had it right. He then asked if we were celebrating anything and if there were any food allergies. (Slap palm-of-hand on forehead.) I accidentally ordered a bottle of water. Great Japanese cuisine and the salad dressing is sooooo good. The chef cooks in front of you so it is a show and fun for a party like dinner. I like going for birthdays or other celebrations. Kids love it too. I love the steak and the skilled chefs!! read more

I've come here twice and most recently it was for my birthday. If you sign up for their rewards you got 30 dollars off a meal with purchase of another 30 dollars. It just be during a weekday M thru Th. We picked an earlier time and the staff was really friendly. Seemed like mostly all the parties dining had small children. I honestly went so my toddler could enjoy the show. It was happy hour too but that's only if you sit at the bar. Vegetarian review: I ordered a yakisoba with tofu and a tofu steak. To be honest, it seems like they are equivalent except the yakisoba has noodles too. The tofu steak is cut up in pieces and has zucchini, mushrooms, onion just like the yakisoba. I guess the steak also got some cilantro. If you get fried rice it is an extra 6 dollars a person! We got fried rice without chicken and the soup has beef broth. Vegetarians can opt for 2 salads instead. The waitress also offered that the cook can cook the vegetarian stuff first/separately as well to avoid cross contamination with meat. In regards to the show, most of the tricks had to do with the egg for fried rice so if you skip that the tricks are limited...I guess you get the onion volcano. We went here recently for a birthday celebration! It was a 20 minute wait on a Wednesday night. But right when we got seated it took awhile for the server and cook to come. But honestly that didn't really matter since the cook brought out a whole show and the food was cooked on the spot and was fresh. It was well seasoned and cooked. The interior was nice and clean, but maybe a little bit outdated. They did have their team sing happy birthday to us and the party in our shared table as well! It was my first time here and I was not a fan of it. I thought it would be a cool experience and it was ehhh. We sat at the table for super long time. At least 20 minutes before someone came out to ask if we'd like to place an order for drinks. Our server is explained the menu to me since we said it was the first time here. I think you paid more for the experience. The sushi roll rice was too sticky and wet. The fried rice had too much black pepper. read more

For starters, reservation was for a group of 5 and set for 7pm on a Tuesday, we were sat until 7:40p. A group of 7 arrived shortly after my group and they were sat at 7:10p. When we were sat server wasn't attentive, and also forgot multiple things. When it came time for refills of water, server poured water rapidly allowing water to land onto my plate. At the end of the course, I got up to use the restroom and while using it, I noticed a BOH cook who entered the restroom after me, exit the restroom without washing his hands. Besides these downsides, the food was 5/10 possibly due to the water in my food, the teppanyaki chef was a bit messy but put on an okay show. Came here for lunch to celebrate our Auntie's birthday. We had a party of 11 and could not fit at one table but my cousin called to make reservations and they assured her we would be treated as one party. She spoke to 3 people including a manager. She asked if the lunch menus was available on a Sunday and she was told YES. Did the actually have a lunch menus when we arrived? NO! She was treating so that was a very unpleasant surprise. The restaurant phone system is a failure. It's an automated voice system that "Transfers" you to a live representative but instead just hangs up on you. I called 4 times to try and ask where the place is located near in the mall since I have a broken toe and wanted park near. When I arrived and told the receptionist, she did not seem concerned and was aware of the issue. The server, Gabriela really ruined the experience for us. As I before mentioned they could not fit us in one table but we were very close. Every time we tried to make sure the 3 other people in our party were taken care of we told by Gabriella they she does not know. Not her problem even though we assured we would treated as one party. It was so bad they ended up paying separately and my cousin was very upset because she invited guest with the expectations she would cover. We asked her multiple times to please help clear dishes so we could take birthday pictures. We were really polite and she was huffy and said she would later. When asked again, she told us just to push them aside. She did not bring enough plates for the dessert. No knife to cut the cake, not enough forks. We came here for lunch, it's always the same experience, you pay for the performance, food is overpriced and bland. I have been to different locations and this will be the last time we're going Benihana, we were served a burnt Calamari, Charred is way different from burnt, Im not the type that complains at the restaurant because people might think were after "free stuff", but if you are the waiter and you see that the Calamari is burnt you wouldnt serve it, you can ask the kitchen to make another one, I find it disrespectful for serving a burnt food to your customer. I took my mom out here for an early birthday dinner since she had that GC. I gotta say, I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. We had reservations for 7:30, were not sat until almost 8PM. Once we were sat, we ordered crispy tuna rice to start and the server completely forgot it. The food was okay. Honestly, my partner and I have better meals at home. In addition to that, one of the guests that were dining at the same table as us found a hair in their meal. Couldn't have been from the chef cause they had short hair, so it must've been from someone in the back. Our server seemed busy that she didn't have time to attend to our table much, but to be honest, the other servers seemed like they were in a much better mood than ours, so maybe we just didn't have a good server that evening. They also completely forgot to ring our bill at the end, making us wait another 30 minutes. By the time our whole dinner experience ended, it was almost 10PM. For a weeknight, that's late, especially for us taking my elderly mom out. The list goes on for me on why my specific experience was a miss. Considering we had a young child part of the group we knew it would be hard to keep her entertained while we ate. So what better than dinner-tainment? Service: To be fair, the thought of getting a table for 6 on a Saturday evening seemed to be near impossible. After checking in, we were told that it would be about an hour or so to wait. We put our name down, but we were not optimistic. After our full party arrived, I checked in again and thankfully we were sat shortly there after. What was an hour wait turned out to be 30 minutes. Our chef, was honestly, one of the best I have ever encountered. A combination of his knife skills and banter made not only the time fly by with laughter and slight bit of self reflection (never wear a white shirt to a tepan party). Food A Tepan menu is really strait forward, a quick gander at the ingredients, everything seemed to be very average. I ordered steak w/extra steak and the marbling didn't strike me as much. I have seen similar at your local meat market. Overall: My score honestly, was because of the service we were given. Benihana is not one of my go-to places when it comes to tepan, but the staff here made it just a wonderful evening and that is what tipped my hand. The hostess could have cared less She could hardly look at me when she spoke. I spoke with a manager that all she said was I'm sorry I'm sorry. I have not been in here over a decade so when my brother in law is visiting my wife and I decided to take him here. Expect to spend about 2 hours of full fun and food. The restaurant is located at the Arcadia mall across from Cheesecake Factory. We didn't make a reservation and was told 20minute wait but got seated fairly quickly. If you go as a small party you get seated with another party. Not a big deal. The other family was nice. My husband ordered the filet mignon and I got the ocean treasure which means we both got to taste steak and seafood haha. The meal is first served with soup then salad. The chef put on quite a funny show. We got fried rice and then he proceeded to make each person's entree. I also tried a passionfruit lemonade but sadly the waitress forgot about me after the rest of the table got their drinks for awhile. We reminded her and she was nice about it...and refilled my drink without me asking. The food was surprisingly tasty...maybe 10 years ago I had tried one of these types of restaurants and food was a bit dry so it was a pleasant surprise. Came for a Saturday dinner a few weeks ago with the family and the experience wasn't the greatest. We were pleasantly excited to see how easy it was to book a reservation online for 7pm. We arrived 15 mins early and checked in and it was packed. The hostesses were giving everyone the same script with "we are full right now, but the tables getting set up, you guys will be right up." We waited until 7:30 to get seated, and it was quite disappointing to walk in and see three empty hibachi tables. We sat for several more minutes before we saw our waitress who was lovely. You can tell they were extremely understaffed because she was running between rooms to take care of everyone. And eventually put our order in and then.. waited some more. Luckily we got some appetizers to start cause we were starving. The sashimi sampler was average, seared tuna was great, but the ponzu chili yellowtail was horrendous. It literally looked like they ran out of fish. We would have rather them tell us it was unavailable. (Please see pics) The actual grilling was fun and our chef was cool. It's actually what I remember, overly buttery fried rice and nice charred meats. But by 8:45 the hunger and suppressed and ended up togo ing most of the food. Even having to ask for a clean sake glass took 20 mins, I had to wave down a busboy who said he got a manager who said he'll get our waitress just for a glass... I haven't been to a Benihana in years but decided to go and use the birthday reward. Recruited a few friends to come along as well. Lots of open lot parking but sometimes can be crowded. It was also very busy inside surprisingly at 7:30pm on a Monday. I forgot the name of our chef but it didn't seem like he was as animated as the others and didn't engage us as much as I would've liked. I had told a friend that the chef kind of makes or breaks the experience and this time it was really meh. Also the waiter didn't seem to be as accommodating with my request to sub the steamed rice with yakisoba even tho I was ok paying extra. The chef made it seem like I didn't make it clear when I was very specific about it. Overall the food was cooked pretty well, it's a little pricey for what you get but you're paying for experience and this time it def felt overpriced. I got the land and sea which was filet mignon and scallops. Scallops were on the small side but everything was seasoned very well. Also the order he cooked everything ended up where ppl were eating out of order or waiting and so it didn't really feel cohesive. Service was just ok, not great and not terrible. Had a random craving for Benihana - Easily made a reservation online a few hours before and had no issues. As a party of 2, we were seated with 6 other people and it was extremely squishy and uncomfortable as the two parties instantly took the corner seats. Avoid the middle seats! I believe our chef was called Desmond and he's very nice and friendly. He also played games with the whole table which made it enjoyable. Everyone had a blast. + Land 'N Sea 4/5: 6 course meal with tender filet mignon and Hokkaido scallops. Both entrees tasted decent. I upgraded rice to chicken fried rice. I should've asked for more garlic butter for the maximum garlicky and buttery flavor. Everything tasted fine. I have no complaints. Fun and highly entertaining meal. Came for dinner on a Wednesday night. We made reservations about a week ago and it was still surprisingly busy. The food is solid. Fried rice is the best part of any meal. If you can, have them load it up with the garlic butter. It is so good. I got the chicken which was, again, solid. The sushi is good. The dragon roll is plentiful and tasty. I am not a fan of the dressing that comes with the salad. The chef and the grill is the reason we came and he did not disappoint. Went through all the classic moves and the fan favorite of the volcano. The vibe is chill and casual. A lot of big parties so there is a lot of chatter. There must be a change in management. This location used to be excellent! When last night, having reservations at 6 PM. Only to be bumped for a "large party". Way to wait an additional 15 minutes for our table. I'd request a corner seating, and obviously it was not given that as we were quickly to our table. The server, aggressively tried to "cross Cell" multiple items. It was annoying how many times she suggested different items in order to upsell. I don't know if there's a new quota? Or if she might've been a new employee? Unfortunately, she had a broken thumb, which made it very difficult for her to serve. Well, I can appreciate the fact that she was trying her hardest, it seemed that it was very difficult for her to serve things like hot soup and drinks. The chef was excellent, and the food wonderful. Having gone to this location, multiple times for birthdays and events. This was a letdown. I can see for multiple other comments and reviews. From other customers, that service is lacking in this location. Truly sad! When you're spending over $125 for a couple for dinner. The whole experience took nearly 3 hours! This is because the waitress was struggling with orders and spent too much time trying to cross Cell items. But consider going to a competitors location. I would try SHOGUN in Laverne. read more

I walked in, lunch hour so half an hour after they opened. I see to my left three tables seated and eating. To my right bar area still empty. Looks like manager is manning the bar. I stood for 18 min exactly before anyone greeted me. No host. I requested assistance from a woman who works there, she said someone will be with you. I said ok but it's been almost twenty min. She walked away. I found a server grabbing drinks for a table from the bar, I asked her for help and said I've been waiting for twenty min now. She said I'm sorry host is probably in the back. Ok? (I mean is her job not to greet and seat guests?) so I said can I be seated or should I leave? She went and got her. The host, omg. She comes up to the desk, unhappy, gothic lipstick, slouching like she hates being there, doesn't look up at me whatsoever, just says, can I help you. I said yes I'd like to eat lunch. She says, frowning, I'll check who can serve you hold on. Rolls her eyes and finds me a place. I now felt uncomfortable, like I had to beg to eat there! Like sorry for disturbing your restaurant by being a customer! The manager who was manning the bar that watched me stand there for 25 min came over and says have u been helped yet? I said finally yes but she isn't happy about it. He goes sorry and then walks away. I had ariana as a server she's super sweet. She said she never worked lunch so she didn't know the menu and had to look over it twice to know what to put in that I ordered. She was nice though. The previous server who found the host did come by to check on me so she was thoughtful and sweet also. Food is good as always . I brought my boys to Benihana for the first time, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. I've dined at other Benihana locations before and always enjoyed the food--the fried rice was flavorful without being salty, the lobster was tender, and the filet mignon was juicy and perfectly cooked. However, this location did not live up to that standard. The fried rice was overly salty, and both the lobster and filet mignon were overcooked. Considering the high prices, the overall quality of the food was very disappointing. I would not recommend this Benihana location to others. read more
