First and foremost, I have to give a shoutout to our server Jeremey. He was quick, friendly and really knew how to talk up my meal. Absolutely loved him as a server! Now onto the review. I absolutely hated this place when I was younger and living in California. But times have changed and I love trying food, so I had to try this again now that I've grown. I must say I wasn't disappointed. As always, I must get the bad out of the way first. The main issue I had with this place is simply the pricing. I can't blame them for this as I understand why the pricing is high, but if you are looking for a super filling meal then you might wanna go to a full on steakhouse. This place is more for the show(well worth it) and for the food in moderation. Take in mind I'm a pretty big dude and I love eating a lot. A majority of my family had the Benihana trio. I substituted my filet mignon for hibachi steak. Did not regret it. Amazing taste, great texture, and enough fatty pieces to satisfy my craving of juiceness. The chicken was pretty damn good also, but I ended up trying my wife's chicken with terayaki sauce and I regret not adding it! The jumbo shrimp were also amazing as the butter blends perfectly with the lemon. I ended up having two bowls of white rice and I can tell you now by the end of this whole meal, I still had some room to spare. I can blame this of course on my bigger size, but I know plenty of places that would of filled me up way more for the same price. Don't let this effect my thoughts on the quality of the food. It was amazing. If you plan on eating sushi, I would recommend the sumo roll. I've tried a lot of sushi places in my life and I gotta tell you, this was the best damn roll. Salmon baked to perfection, they were generous with that special mayo sauce and it was meaty to the core. Do not regret having it and reasonably priced. Overall this place serves as the pillar of dining for the show. High price, but high quality service and entertainment. I know other reviews seem to diss the service, but I personally had a great experience and everyone around seemed to also. Perfect for a date night or a special occasion where you got some money to spend. Definitely isn't a three star. It's more of a 4 star with possibly a 5 star if they increase the portion size. So so bad. Overpriced and tasteless food. Long serve time and the place was empty. Also the place was freezing inside. The waitress did not know the menu well at all and had to ask questions every time. They were also out of basic sauces. I was hoping the lack of service was Covid related alas I think it is how this place is. When the manager called to talk about my review he said he would like the chance to try again and sent nothing as he said he would. I'm glad he didn't waste his time because we weren't planning on going back but this sealed the deal. read more

How can you not love dinner being served to you by a teppanyaki chef on a hot grill? My best friend and I came for a late birthday dinner and we were not disappointed. We ordered the steak and added shrimp to our entrees. It was a five course meal. We received miso soup and salad to start and after a display of wonderful entertainment we received chicken fried rice, steak, shrimp, tons of good veggies with sauces for dipping, and dessert ice cream. Our server and chef were very sweet and accommodating. I've attached some videos to this review so you can see his skills. But we had a wonderful time. The only thing I'd say is the restaurant could've been a little cleaner. I noticed when we walked up to the table there was food all around us on the floor. Our table also had a stick substance from a previous meal still there and our chef put some of our food on it. I don't want anyone to get sick so I knocked a star just so they are to be mindful of that. read more

Strike Two and out for us. We had a reservation at 6:45 tonight and arrived on time. The waiting room was filled with 30 people with Twenty more waiting outside. All had reservations! No one was leaving the restaurant, so we knew we would have a very long wait. Clearly they overbooked. We went to the pizza place next door. When we came out after eating, there were still twenty plus people waiting outside Benihana's. Don't go! The same thing happened to us last year. We did wait last year and even after we were seated, we waited 45 minutes for the chef to appear. It was our son's favorite restaurant so we tried again. No more. Off our list for good. read more

We have been eating at Benihana for over 15 years and had positive experiences until recently. The last two times we visited over the last 6 months the restaurant was so dirty it was gross. The floors were covered in old rice and the carpet was sticky, the plates and bowls had a raspberry substance on them and the grill had old food in the crevices. I mentioned how dirty it was to the hostess but she ignored me. We were given new clean plates and bowls after the server and chef were alerted. We spent $300 on lunch for five people and although the food and service were good, we won't be back. read more

We've been coming here for many years and the food is always consistent. The service by the chefs is hit or miss and the last couple of times have been a miss. Our guy didn't seem to be enjoying his job at all but the wait staff was great as always. Chef literally asked if we wanted the onions or did we want to pass on them and then did it again with the mushrooms. Yes, we want them! Maybe most people don't eat them??? My husband and I always share a big meal because we always order other items and can't finish everything and totally fine to pay a split fee). The chef knew we were sharing but he just kept putting everything in his plate. Not a big deal but they always have always split it and it would've been nice to not have to reach over to grab food from his plate. Going here used to be a fun experience with chefs that had personality and joked around with the table or put on a bit of a show. Not so much anymore. Great place to celebrate my grandson's birthday with grand parents and little grandkids.

I read a lot of the other reviews before writing this one and I'm afraid it's going to be pretty redundant. We had a 5:30 reservation. The revolving doors were broken and we had to enter through a side door. The problem with the doors has the restaurant absolutely freezing. It also feels like a wind tunnel. Our first clue should have been that the hosts were all wearing parkas! Every guest in the restaurant wore their coat throughout dinner. We never got a chef. At 6:40, I asked our server when we might get a chef. She told me they had prepared our food and assigned us a chef who was currently in the kitchen putting our food on his cart. We would see him in 8-10 minutes. It was oddly specific. 20 minutes later, my husband asked the manger when we might see a chef. She told us the exact same thing! Our food had been prepared and the chef was now putting it on his cart. We questioned why we were told the same thing 20 minutes early and the MANAGER told us she couldn't answer that question because she hadn't been the first person we talked to. Instead of herself wondering what the heck was going on and maybe investigating. Because we were at the table doing nothing for an hour and a half, I had time to make observations. The people at a table across from ours got up and walked out. I wasn't sure why exactly. I took my daughter to the restroom and passed a table where a woman was yelling at the manager that she had asked to be moved to a warmer, unoccupied table and the hosts intentionally ignored her, turned away and quickly seated another party at the table she requested. The bathrooms were gross. I haven't been in a restaurant bathroom that was unacceptable like that in a long time. When I got back to my table an elderly couple were having a heated discussion with the manager about how long it was taking for them to be seated after their reservation time. I didn't have the heart to tell them even if they had been seated, it wouldn't matter. There was a lovely couple seated at our table with us and we all decided it would be better to leave since it did not feel our food would be prepared anytime soon. We couldn't find our server to ask for the checks for our drinks. We're fairly certain at this point there was no way she was coming back to the table until we had a chef. A different server told us not to worry about it and just go ahead and leave. Ok. Our 5 yo was pretty upset that we left before she got to see "the fire." We felt terrible, but after an hour and forty minutes, it was time to move on. The whole world is short staffed right now. This is different. This is horrible reservation management with a staff who is making no effort. Probably because they're tired of how upset the customers are. I would imagine it's a very stressful work environment. *Update* I see that the restaurant is asking me to contact them directly, but I can't respond. Actually, my husband did email the restaurant while I was writing the Yelp review. We certainly haven't heard from them. read more

What an expensive let down. We went there on the weekend for a birthday celebration. The chef completely burned the rice - another party at our table had to tell him it was burning. The rice was CRISPY- and he forgot salt and pepper. Ugh - that is my favorite part of the meal. One person did not want sesame seeds - so none of the other 7 got any. While performing one of the 4 unsuccessful tricks - he launched a bowl at someone and it broke the plate right in front of her and little ceramic pieces flew onto the grill while the burned rice was still on right by it. His personality was a 1/10. Poor kid, needs more training. read more

Waited a good minute in the lounge area even though we had a scheduled time. Finally sat down and the chef cooking next to our table was young and annoying I get the Benihana banter but this was too much. Don't think the vent fan he was cooking on was working cause all the smoke and spices flowed out tables direction and it was terrible. Mentioned to manager and he turned on some more vents around us but that didn't help. That chef made a big mess all over Out chef finally came and he was cool thanks Israel for an awesome job even though most of the vents were not venting upwards like usual. Had a business dinner last night. The food was good, typical of Hibachi grills. What made this experience much better was our chef Elija. He made the experience totally enjoyable. Run, don't walk away. I don't think I've ever been so angry that I look forward to a place closing before this. Sad as we used to love it. They ruined my Christmas Eve with a wait so endless, with a reservation and late, 8:45, my son couldn't continue & we walked out. What really made me angry was discovering online that they've been doing this to customers for over six months. So they were dishonest too. It's an overall problem, not related to one evening. Other fun aspects were freezing for an hour while hungry & waiting because the door was broken, that it was so overbooked there was no where to sit or stand & the general mess. Lovely seeing dirty plates everywhere, it's become gross, dirty bathroom. dirty everything. Staff is invisible and/or surly, stressed & rude. But who can blame them? Ridiculous. They're coasting on their former glory. Don't go unless you have 3-4 hours to spare & hunger doesn't bother you. Don't bother making a reservation, they don't honor them & bring hand i wipes, you'll need them. They just blatantly overbook & blatantly want you money. Period. Oh & Benihana, spare me the cut & paste response. I already wrote you. I know when I'm being ripped off, don't bother. What can you possibly do, offer me a free meal I'd have to wait 3 hours for? No thank you. You're exploiting your customers to pack in as many people as possible knowing you can't serve them for hours, counting on most of them not to leave, shame on you. Never again. Though I doubt you'll stay in business long. Overpriced, dirty, unbelievable waits, broken down everything, freezing. In this economy, you won't last much longer. Greedy, sad, it's pathetic. And you're making people sick. I'm reading this in review after review. No surprise. Is raw seafood food sitting on the charts waiting hours for a chef? How about the dirt & mess everywhere. We are regulars and she greets us enthusiastically the moment she sees us. she knows our order and honestly we will leave if she is not there when we visit. The location itself is not great, the bathrooms, floors and often the tables are filthy. The service was great but the food was just awful. They drowned the salad in dressing that no one asked for. The scallops were hardened and still had the hinge attached, and the stir fry vegetables were soaked in pepper and slimy - a privilege for which you get to pay $50. It was disgusting. Extremely disappointing overall. Our chef would rank very, very low on the performance scale. The food was lackluster at best (except the filet mignon and shrimp). Noodles and chicken were incredibly bland, fried rice was way too heavy on the garlic. We had two toddlers with us, and thought a $24 kids meal was pretty outrageous but willing to pay due to the experience. However they asked us if they'd like rice or noodles, and drinks. Those additions added about $9 to each TODDLER meal, resulting in $33 meals per toddler. We won't be back. read more

Terrible customer service. We were seated an hour past our reservation & the waitress was awful. Ordered a side of fried rice & was told it counts as a replacement for the steamed rice the meal originally comes with. Seems pretty steep for the "upgrade" of fried rice to be an additional $6. Okay so I'm doing grub hub & if you've ever worked grub hub you know it's very important to be on time with your orders. Well this Wendy's girl with a Donald trump tan told me it would be a 5 minute wait. I said okay that's fine. Another delivery guy comes in & leaves with his order & im still waiting. Mind you I get a ping for another order. & I accept it thinking it's gonna be five mins but no. I waited almost 20 minutes for my food. The service was prompt and fantastic. We had "The Vanilla Gorilla Conner" as our chief. All new jokes and lots of energy. The food was excellent as always and the entertainment from Conner was above and beyond. Will definitely ask for Conner in the future. The filet, shrimp, scallops, and calamari were cooked to perfection and melted in our mouths. Pro Tip: Order a second fried rice with your dinner! The left overs are to die for. read more

How long should a simple sushi order take? That is the question. We all know that restaurants are short-staffed thanks to Covid. We are more than sympathetic to this and do not expect immediate service. With that said, a simple sushi order should not take over one hour to come to the table. Especially when one of the sushi items was an appetizer!!! In fact, the rest of the party was able to watch their food get cooked and eat their entire meal and the sushi still did not show up. The manager NEVER came to our table to apologize yet the server was super and felt terrible. This was a huge misstep to me. We did get the sushi comped but that was not the point. The manager should have came to our seats and explained what the issue was. My guess? The sushi was given to another party in the bar. The entire experience was average at best. My memories of the old Benihana were much brighter than this meal. It was not what we expected. read more

I wish you could rate thing less than one star. To say the service is bad is one of the most egregious understatements of our century. We had a 7:15 reservation, did not get seated until 7:34. Following this, we were surprised to receive the neglect of not even receiving a drink order until the late hours of after 8 (8:08). The chef literally disappeared and is nowhere to be found. The poor server had genuinely no idea what's going on; Everything is a whole mess. However, the worst part remains: I smell like dog clit.
