Good sushi for the price. We ordered a bunch of sashimi and they give thicker slices (yellowfin, tuna, salmon, eel). All of it tasted fresh. We also ordered the salmon sushi roll and again it had a lot of salmon so they definitely don't skimp on the fish portions. Finally we ordered hibachi chicken which had good flavor. It also came with miso soup which I really liked because they added seaweed which added some texture. The waiter was an older gentleman and was so nice. I orders takeout from this small sushi spot. Great seating for small groups or a date. My food was packaged to-go beautifully: the sashimi sampler was great quality, the tempura appetizer was tasty with a good batter fry, but where they lost me was the Black Angel roll. A beef roll that had been cooked in a sauce, and under that I was surprised by how over cooked the beef was. It struggled through the crunch but halfway through the roll ended up picking it off. Other than that, my experience was good. I would skip the Black Angel roll and stick with the sushi/sashimi and tempura. read more

It's a shame that we won't be back to this establishment. My son and I had gone roller skating, and looked for a nearby sushi joint in the area. Was glad to see that Okinawa Sushi had 4 stars. When we arrived, the restaurant was about 3/4 full. It was 6:40pm on a Friday, and there were lots of to-go orders being packaged. I may have known when I overheard one Doordasher be told at 6:50 that his order would not be ready until 7:10 that we may be waiting awhile. This is an UNDERSTATEMENT. I have serviced in restaurants before and was shocked that we were not even approached for our drink orders until we had been sitting for 15 minutes. We watched the table next to us- who had been sat before us- also wait 20 minutes for their food; who knows how much longer they had been there? While we waited patiently, we were not once approached about the tardiness of our order (and we were pretty hard to miss since we were at the center table). The aforementioned table finally received their food and consumed the entirety of it at least 15 minutes before ours had arrived. A family of 5 with a reservation was sat maybe 30 minutes after we had arrived, and even they received their order before we had any of ours! When I mentioned this to the manager, he defended that they had appetizers. This sounded like an excuse to me, as I witnessed the table behind me receive their dinner and then ask what had happened to their appetizer, and whether they would still get it. With half a glass of wine still on the table, the woman approached the waiter and asked for their check and stated that "This was a terrible experience!" My son was very hungry, but very patient when we received our order- two rolls, which, by the way, were not meant to be fried, and when asked about our order, the waiter who seemed to have no concept told us "we are waiting for your food to finish in the fryer." We consumed our sushi within 10 minutes and paid abruptly. Not a single apology issued nor an offer to correct the situation by discounting our meal for our inconvenience. As we left, we witnessed another family having similar treatment by being ignored and a woman who could not sit by the cold door that they spent an asinine amount of time bussing another table to accommodate her. 2 stars because the sushi was good, but never to be repeated. read more

5 star value. The sushi is good, not my favorite, but good. We especially liked the Yellowtail jalepeno sashimi, along with the Crazy tuna and Playboy rolls - 5 star on those. Overall their sushi rolls are bigger than most places - so consider ordering less, the portion size is bigger. The place itself is hard to access from two directions but once you get their they have plenty of patking. The decor is good, sort of average looking sushi spot decor. Our server was good, he refilled my iced tea and was nice. Be prepared, if you order rolls it will take some time for them to come (25+min). If you like sushi you'll probably like this place. I will be back because of the value. Two people can order 4-5 rolls and be really full - 3 of us could not finish the food we ordered. Next time I'll order less, I'll be back and I do recommend it. We have been eating here for three years and is one of my favorite restaurants! Everything on the menu is delicious from rolls to sashimi to fried rice to katsu to ramen. We've tried almost everything and it's all great portions, delicious, and consistent in takeout and in restaurant. Love going in to eat to the relaxing environment and staff are always so nice! Decided on trying Okinawa Sushi based off the pictures and reviews. I ordered take out for Tri-Color Sushi with a salad and one order of edamame. Tri Color Sushi: 2 pieces of tuna, 2 pieces of salmon, 2 pieces of yellowtail and a magic roll. Served with choice of side. It was delicious, everything tasted fresh and it was nice variety. I will try the miso soup next time instead of the salad. Not a fan of the dressing. Can't say how the edamame was because they forgot to send it, but they did charge for it. We came here right before the dinner rush and after the lunch rush so there were two groups dining in. The sushi we ordered was really tasty. We ordered a variety of options so we got a little bit of California, avocados, unagi, and an assortment of fishes that came with our sushi order. The sushi did not taste frozen and there was a good ratio of rice and filling. It was not overpowering with rice that you would feel full immediately but just enough to enough in one bite. I had the Miso soup and tempura appetizer. The soup was great, and a good price. I was really hungry, so I ate some tempura before the picture. There were four vegetables, the waiter that brought them couldn't tell me what any of them were. There were two small shrimp. The shrimp had the traditional panko crust, but as you can see from the picture the vegetables did not. They were overcooked and I sopped up some of the grease with my napkin before digging in. The dipping sauce for the tempura was not traditional, either. It tasted like sour soy sauce. I came back to edit this review because I've left several minutes ago and I still can't get that awful taste out of my mouth. But my two biggest complaints are they no longer have lunch specials (since covid) and when I asked, no plans to bring it back soon. I usually love the dipping sauce, so that was a big disappointment. And the vegetables were zucchini, onion, and I believe two sweet potatoes. They were overcooked. I'm considering trying the ramen karage, but in general I'm not sure I will really return. The sad thing is, I used to be a regular here. Maybe, if they bring back lunch specials, I will try again. Our server Christian V. was very engaging, knowledgeable, funny and his recommendations were spot on. Everything we had was delicious, fresh and well presented. The gyoza was perfect with just the right balance between fried and steamed with plenty of flavor. Next we had the Yellowtail Jalapeño which was phenomenal. Very fresh, delicate and the perfect combination of sweet and tart. We also had the Golden Roll, Red Dragon Roll and the Crazy Salmon Roll. All three were excellent. We ordered sushi off of Doordash (Yes I know risky move) and I was very impressed with Okinawa. Of course we over-ordered because we rarely get sushi and it was a special treat. Just doesn't seem very sanitary. 2. Found a small hair in our appetizer.. no further explanation needed for that.. 3. Staff smoke directly outside the main door, which allows smoke inside the restaurant and makes for an unpleasant dining experience. It seemed not important to bus tables in a timely manner, many of the tables sat with food and plates stacked for our entire stay, which was during a slow time. Ordered out $50 worth of sushi + a good tip. I asked specifically for soy sauce and ponzu sauce and noticed once i was home that i got a sweet sauce instead and no soy. The seating is quick and menu is easy to follow, along while you wait can also do a mix drink or hot tea. My favorite is the house special Okinawa sushi roll, which is slightly deep fried probably why I love it so much. But the proteins of choice are all top tier selections.
