When you first walk in, the decor is really cute with the hanging umbrellas and cherry blossom decor. When we went, service was kinda mid. Maybe it was a rough day but our server was annoyed. They have a decent menu and their lunch specials are okay and reasonably priced. However the sushi was pretty mid. Each roll we ordered was wrapped in large amounts of rice with not a lot of fish. It's still quite expensive for what you get especially if you want unagi. Can't say we'll be back since we prefer Yonsei which is nearby but I can see why it's popular. This location does seem different than the one in Cherry Creek. The one in cherry creek seems like a higher quality selection of fish so possibly it's based on location.

After a month in Colorado we were still searching for a good sushi spot that checked all the boxes, with our visit to Hana Matsuri we have found our new favorite location. Nice open layout, decent size space with a combination tables and a sushi bar. No reservation but we were able to get a table quickly on a rather crowded Sunday evening. Ordering was straight forward, either mark off your dish of choice on the provided menu paper or order off the menu. We started with the mixed tempura app..I really need to stop doing this as we haven't found a good tempura in this area but I keep hoping! Wife went with the Chirashi bowl that had generous cuts of fresh seafood. Thumbs up on this dish. I ordered 9 different nigiri for a total of 18 pieces. I was very happy with the quality and presentation. We did receive two giveaway cards redeemable on our next visit so we'll definitely coming back sooner rather then later. All around best sushi so far and we left happy!

I got a bunch of sushi recs for Denver, but this place definitely wasn't on my bingo card. It's just north of the city, about a 30-minute drive, and honestly--if you're in the area, it's worth the trip. The moment I walked in, I could tell it was a local favorite. For a Monday right around opening time, the place already had a healthy amount of patrons. It was a good sign. I was greeted by a guy named Lukas, who nailed the recommendations for a first-timer. We kicked things off with beer and sake, and then the appetizers started rolling out. The presentation? Spot on. Everything was super fresh, full of flavor. What more do you need? Then came the rolls. Wow, is all I can say. I've been to a lot of sushi spots, but the combo of service and quality here stood out. Lukas was attentive, not just to us, but to every table around us. Just a solid dude. Good food, good vibes. Glad my friend put this one on my radar.

Very popular restaurant as it was packed. We didn't wait that long for a table on a Friday night for 2. We got a bunch of sashimi (eel, smoked eel, salmon, tuna) and a dragon roll and a spicy roll that I forgot the name but everything was fresh and tasty. I spent about $90 so prices weren't bad. Service was super attentive and fast. It felt like our server was rushing us to be done and we weren't even there long...but I think he just had a very strong work ethic and wanted to be fast. Giving him the benefit of the doubt. Nice shushi place.

First of all, the service was very good. They were very attentive, enough though we were sitting outside. He was very polite and professional. This sushi place is probably not for true sushi enthusiasts, but it's ok for rolls and basic nigiri. I was very surprised that the sushi rice fell apart. True sushi rice is very sticky. My nigiri pretty much fell apart after grabbing it with my chopsticks. The cucumber roll wasn't rolled very tightly and fell apart as well. My favorite was the scallop roll. We were just passing by on our way to Estes park, so it was just ok to eat after getting off the plane.

Came here for the first time with a friend who had been before. No reservation but they have plenty of seats open around 5pm. The staff were on top of it, the food came out at a good pace. The parking lot is a bit messy, but you can find parking behind the resturant or near by. Inside it is beautiful with Cherry Blossoms on the walls. I got the wontons which were a perfect starter and came out very quickly. We ordered a bunch of rolls and enjoyed our time. I will definitely come back when I am in the area.

This is the best sushi place in the area. So far it's my favorite in Colorado. The spicy Bincho and amazing roll are my favorite rolls. The new style sashimi & spicy yellowtail are our favorite sashimi appetizers. The service is always pretty good, they have a very friendly staff. Ambiance is good for a strip mall. Ultimately this is my favorite sushi place and I definitely recommend it!

I had such a lovely dinner at Hana Matsuri! The service here was some of the best I've experienced in the Denver-Metro area in awhile. Kyle was the best! He was attentive and helpful! That alone made this experience so stand out from the minute we walked in the door to the moment we left. I got the Sashimi plate, which had a lot of beautiful fish. Everything was fresh and tasted so good! I really enjoyed the house salad. The dressing was so good I could've gone for more! I think the striped bass was my favorite sashimi of the evening. My partner got the maki plate with a cali roll, avocado roll, and spicy tuna roll. I loved their spicy tuna roll! I would get that next time if I was planning to get maki. I love that there's a yummy sushi spot so close to home! I can't wait to come back!

We came here for my friend's birthday. The sushi rolls are delicious. I especially enjoyed the lobster roll and the spicy tuna roll, and my kid, a connoisseur of fatty tuna, said it was excellent. Everything beautifully plated. The sushi was fresh and there was a wide variety. Service was friendly and efficient, and the restaurant is clean and bright. My only issue is that it's really cold. I'm not sure why, but I was wearing my parka the whole time. Maybe because we were near the door (and our party was too big to move) but the place was ice cold. It wouldn't stop me from going again, but it made me eat quickly and I couldn't linger.

My star rating: * Avoid. Why are you even open? ** Avoid unless the last restaurant on earth. *** Several important misses. Not recommended. **** Very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended. ***** Hits every mark of perfection. PROS Nice size sushi fish pieces. Immediately greeted by host with a friendly smile. Staff service was very good - even the new person training. Lots of staff behind the sushi counter. Nice open restaurant. A fair number of seats at the sushi counter. Plenty of parking. CONS I prefer my raw fish pieces to be a bit colder - I understand that may not be how sushi is typically served, but that is the way I like it. The restaurant was warm - maybe since they just opened it takes a while for the AC to cool the place down.

I really can't say anything bad about Hana . Every single time we come here the staff treats us so well. They remember faces and because of that we are always treated kindly . The ambiance is that of any sushi reataurant. It isn't huge so expect personalized treatment . I love all the food here . Whenever I am in town for more than a couple days we make it a point to visit . If you like sushi I highly recommend.

Tuna In 3 Ways (Lunch Only 1100 am - 200 pm)

To start with, we have never had bad fish here. They always have fresh ingredients and when we have picked up, everything looks great- however.. this is one of the few spots I have truly enjoyed their lunch specials but I felt like their rolls were just missing the mark. My first order from Hana Matsuri was a lunch combo of 3 way tuna. This has a 3 pieces of torched sashimi, 3 tuna sushi pieces and a large spicy tuna hand roll. The fish was exquisite, the sauce for the torched tuna was perfect, and the spicy edamame was excellent, although the sauce felt a little two heavy handed. I couldn't wait to try more from them. The second time, we tried some of their specialty rolls and that is where we're bummed out. We tried the Tuna Lover roll, the Reed Roll, the New style Salmon Roll, and the Sun Fire Roll. All of which had SUPER fresh fish- but they additional creative liberties made it hard to enjoy. The Spicy Mango sauce didn't work on the rolls we tried, the reed roll was maostly drowned out from the intense and soggy tempura green onions, the yuzu-soy and ginger in the Scottish salmon roll just had a bit too much going on. All of this is to say, they have some great items here, it just was a bit over handed on sushi rather than the fresh unique and bold flavors we were expecting. Again, this place is nothing short of great for fish, we were just a bit disappointed with our specialty rolls. I will point out the servers always look attentive and the restaraunt itself is very cozy and always clean as can be so highly recommend checking them out!

Absolutely fantastic. We had a birthday celebration for lunch. We ordered very specific items and asked the Sushi Chef to be creative and he was.

We arrived at 6:30 pm on a Saturday evening to full restaurant which was a great sign. You also want to see your sushi bar moving a lot of product so you know their seafood will be fresh. Lucky for us there were two seats at the bar open so we were seated right away. We started off the meal with of course some Sapporo and premium sake along with a tempura app. I've not found great tempura in the area and was pleasantly surprised with their preparation. We then ordered a Chirashi bowl (wife) and assorted nigiri for myself. The chirashi was okay, decent but not anything amazing. Some of the fish cuts were a little odd like they were the trimmings from the end of the filet. My nigiri was solid and I appreciate the fish to rice ratio was perfect as lot of other places make their sushi with way too much rice to stretch the dish. The amaebi or sweet shrimp was fresh and heads were nicely fried and tasty though I wish they fried it a minute longer. Overall a solid sushi bar tucked away from the main road but definitely worth a visit!

I ordered the Red Dragon roll, the champion sashimi, and the Denver roll to go via online ordering through their website. The ordering process was not ideal for a first time customer because none of the items had descriptions so I was looking between their website and then the ordering platform. Once you order it gives you a time frame but I never got another notice when my order was actually ready which wasn't ideal. My order was correct and packaged very pretty for takeout. The Red Dragon roll was just okay. In my opinion, the tuna on top of it is sliced very thin, so it's not much of a show stopper especially for what they consider to be a special roll. It had a lot of rice. It was fine but I don't think I'd order it again because it wasn't memorable in my opinion. The champion sashimi was kinda spicy which I didn't expect but it was delicious. I would order more of this or something similar to this preparation next time. The Denver roll was refreshing. It's wrapped in cucumber and it comes with a special sauce. I liked it. It was pretty filling too. I could see myself ordering that again if I'm craving a lighter option. I'd order the champion sashimi again and try something new next time for my second option.

So naturally I showed up to investigate with my appetite, my unrealistic and dramatic standards, and the emotional support personality of someone who writes sonnets about raw fish. I'm not here for dinner. I'm here for an experience. Possibly emotional closure. I adore sushi. Which means my expectations, even in a landlocked state, are higher than my credit card balance. The restaurant itself? Oh, she's that mysterious queen tucked into a strip mall like she's avoiding her ex. Tiny. Moody. Dimly lit. The kind of place you almost don't want to review because selfishly, you NEED your favorite table available. Reservations, darling. Don't test fate. This hidden gem has officially been outed. When the sushi arrives, it arrives it not on some precious little plate. On a giant wooden cutting board fit for a king, or queen (wink). Sharing is caring. Unless you touch my last piece. Then all bets are off sweetie. The service? Fabulous. My waiter, (only went by S on the receipt...odd) mastered the ancient art of appearing exactly when needed and vanishing before becoming part of the conversation. Attentive without hovering. Give that man an Emmy. I ordered the Red Dragon Roll:Salmon, yellowtail, and avocado tucked inside...then crowned with tuna, jalapeño, and sriracha. Now let's discuss Miss Thing. The slices were thick. THICK. Like that gorgeous hottie you deny eyeing. Decadent. Chewy. Gorgeous. My only complaint? Girl, my mouth did not sign the consent form. I tried to be elegant. One dainty bite. Then the entire roll exploded like it had unresolved family issues. Halfway through I abandoned etiquette and accepted that looking cute was no longer on today's agenda. The salmon? Baby, If salmon tastes like it has unresolved trauma from three Tuesdays ago, I'm calling the authorities. THIS salmon? Fresh enough to still have opinions. It practically looked at me and said,Girrrrrrll, did you see what that tuna was wearing? That's exactly the level of freshness I want. Now, the rice. Rice is the structural engineering of the sushi. It should faithfully escort my sushi all the way to my mouth before gracefully retiring from public service. Mine only fell apart because those glorious salmon slabs required a jaw unhinge worthy of a python. So today, the rice has been pardoned. Knife work? Every slice looked intentional. Like someone whispered apologies to the blade before making each cut. Were a few pieces larger than others? Maybe. But honestly, the only thing smaller than my patience is my mouth. (Side eye) How do I feel about Wasabi? Please don't flirt with me. Attack me. I want enough wasabi to make me briefly question every life decision that led me into this restaurant. Listen...Everyone online wants tiny edible flowers with tragic backstories and microgreens raised by monks. This restaurant said, no. Here's your beautiful sushi. On a massive communal cutting board. Figure it out. Honestly? Kind of iconic. The sauces also deserve applause. Nothing was drowning beneath an avalanche of spicy mayo and eel sauce. Because once every roll tastes like sauce... Congratulations. You've invented sushi-flavored ranch. Creativity is wonderful. Restraint is sexier. How was the cleanliness? EXCUSE ME. This place was immaculate. I'm convinced tiny sushi ninjas silently materialize every few minutes to eliminate fingerprints before they even happen. Not one sticky soy sauce bottle. Not one questionable table. Not one crumb living rent free. Ten out of ten. No notes. And the sushi chefs Calm.Focused. Mysterious. Absolutely looked like they've silently judged forty thousand chopstick techniques and still wake up disappointed in humanity. Next visit I'm ordering the nigiri. If the chef hands it to me with one solemn nod like they're entrusting me with ancient forbidden knowledge, I'm legally obligated to cry. Finally... The bill. Expensive sushi? Perfectly acceptable. This place actually felt refreshingly reasonable. Because my personal rule remains undefeated: If six pieces of salmon cost the same as my monthly car payment... That salmon better know my name, my zodiac sign, and ask how my mother is doing. Final Verdict: Hidden gem? Absolutely. Fantastic fish.Great service. Immaculate restaurant. Generous portions.Zero gimmicks. Just excellent sushi quietly minding its own business. Five fish flips out of five.
