I haven't been to Benihanas in over 10 years and I'll never go back. The manager was rude and drinks were expensive. We had one member of our party who went to the wrong restaurant so I asked the hostess if I needed to change my reservation since we were going to be 30 minutes late. She told me not to worry and they would seat us when we had a full party. After our last member arrived, we told the hostess we were ready and ten minutes later we were called to be seated. Just as we were being lead to our table, the manager informed us that he had canceled our reservation 40 minutes earlier (but AFTER I had talked to the hostess about our party running late). I understand cancelling a reservation for a late party, but don't tell me there isn't a problem, let me sit at the bar ordering overpriced drinks for 30 minutes, and then tell me there's a problem. read more

Had high expectations for what I assumed was a higher end hibachi place, even though it's a chain. Never been before, but took 45 minutes to be seated past our reservation, not counting time waited at the table for a chef. An up charge for fried rice, and the restaurant smelled extremely unpleasant like sulfur. Also, yumyum sauce is another up charge. My expectation and previous experience at hibachi restaurants is having plenty of food both at the table and leftover. Quite the opposite here, our chef even discarded extra fried rice (that is UP CHARGED) as opposed to divvying it up to patrons. UPDATE 2 DAYS LATER!!: We got food poisoning. I was expecting a nice dinner night out and that is not what I got. 1. The wait to get our drinks was long. The wait for the chef was too long (about 30 minutes). 2. The service left much to be desired. We had empty soup and salad cups in our way for the entire dinner despite the waitress coming by to fill our waters twice. There were also issues with the wrong drinks being brought out, which was clearly a communication issue between the wait staff. 3. The food was okay but it all needed more seasoning. Then, the prices were completely outrageous for the experience you're being given. It was over $100 for just two people and we got one of the cheapest options. Not to mention, neither the menu or the wait staff bothered to mention that fried rice is an extra $7.50 per person. The waitress asked us as if it would be the same as the steamed rice. 4. The only redeeming qualities were the chef tricks, which one of them he wasn't able to do after 4 attempts and ultimately caused him to splatter sauce on somebody at our table, and the ice cream at the end. I suggest saving yourself the trip, money, and time by supporting your favorite local asian restaurant instead. read more

Why is service so terrible here. Been here over 20x over the past 6 months and never had a good experience. We love the food; we've never had such a bad experience at other Benihana's. But this particular location always struggles. We wait to order for 30min every time; it takes another 20min to get our drinks. Service was horrendous. We came here to celebrate my Mom's bday and would NEVER recommend this place. 1. The restaurant was freezing. The entire 2 hours we were here we were all uncomfortable even with our coats on. It was clear their heat was not working or they weren't addressing the issue. 2. We order our food and Randall the chef comes by later (he was great, no complaints)! He asked if we were celebrating anything which we said my Mom's birthday. 5. Meanwhile Felicity is nowhere to be found. Which we are all eating my daughter has not received her chicken tenders. We ask Randall about them since he is almost done and he can't find Felicity. He has to flag someone else over to ask. 10 min later no chicken tenders and finally Felicity shows up we ask her and she rushes to see where they are. She does bring them and states be SOO careful the dish is very hot. The bowl was...the food was not. It was clear it had been sitting back there for a very long time waiting for her to bring them to us. 6. Around us this whole time we see many celebrations being acknowledged. Felicity beings are ice cream and says so sorry for all the issues and delays and being here so long etc to which my husband replies "Does my mother in laws birthday not worthy acknowledging too?" Ohhhhh sooo sorry yes yes of course she says. At this point it's just ridiculous and we're over it but my kids were excited for this celebration. She grabs some people to sing and they come and sing to my DAUGHTER not my Mom.‍. My 5 year old even asked me "Why are they messing everything up?!'" 7. Menu states you get green tea at the end...didn't even bother asking where ours was but definitely wasn't offered. Save your money and go somewhere else. Words cannot even begin to describe the absolutely miserable experience our family had at Benihana this evening. We have 2 kids who are big fans of hibachi, and were recently at the Benihana on the Strip in Las Vegas, where we had a great experience, so we thought we would try this location near our home to celebrate a birthday, but this was our first visit and last visit to the Benihana location in Broomfield, Colorado. First, we had made a 5 pm reservation, via Open Table, and despite arriving timely, we were not seated at the table until almost 5:30 pm. Another family with kids was seated at the communal table with us at the same time and suffered the same issues. The restaurant was busy tonight and woefully understaffed. Our young server seemed to try his best, but he appeared relatively new to his role and struggled with taking our order and getting the appetizers out in a timely manner. The table directly behind us had actually arrived after us and was almost DONE with their dinner by the time our hibachi chef ("Louie") finally arrived, after we waited in relatively good spirits since being seated for 1 hour and 15 minutes (I am not exaggerating). He was not in any way apologetic for the delay, made sure that everyone at the table knew that he was having a bad day, and then did not even introduce himself, welcome guests or confirm the orders, as is usually done in our experience. When we made a comment about our excitement for our international visitor to see the show, Louie made a snarky comment to the effect of "If you want a show you are obviously not hungry" (realize that there were 2 sets of kids at the table who had been waiting patiently and they were VERY hungry). My wife reminded him that she had a food allergy to onions, and he then snidely said that he had never heard of anyone with such an issue (essentially mocking her in front of everyone). The rude comments only got worse from there, and though I have never done so before, I got up and announced that our family would be leaving, which we did. On the way out, I asked to speak with the manager ("Guillermo"), who seems like a very reasonable guy. I explained to him what had happened and he was very empathetic and apologetic. I offered that we would pay for the food we had ordered (but were not staying to eat), but he was insistent that he would not take our money - the damage had already been done and there was really nothing further he could do. I left him with my business card and told him to contact me if he had any further questions. I still cannot believe that this happened. The hibachi chef obviously hates his job, but there was absolutely no excuse for him to take it out on a table of guests or to treat us with such disrespect. This restaurant seriously needs to address their staffing issues (or at least notify guests of possible delays at check in to give THEM the option to go elsewhere), and then also decide if they want to continue to employ such a poor representative of their brand in a customer-facing position. read more

Had to wait 1.5 hours on a reservation because tables "won't get up". You'd think for a Saturday night they would have a plan set up to accommodate reservations made online. Or have a time limit on tables being sat. We have been here for over two hours now, still with no food, only water and drinks. The waitlist / reservation list was a shit show, and now waiting on cooks for 40 min + after being sat down is even worse. Our experience at Benihana was okay. We sat in the bar area because there was an hour or so wait for the hibachi. The vibe and decor was kind of run down a bit in the bar. We ordered a kid's chicken tempura meal for the little one and some sushi to share. The kid's meal comes with a side and the server listed off the sides. Unknowingly, we ordered a side with an up charge and the server didn't let us know. It was confusing when we got the bill and he explained. The food was pretty good, but not sure it was worth the price. We'd try something different next time. read more

We had the worst meal ever at Benihana. Everything was terribly overcooked, as well as overpriced. I ordered steak and lobster for about $60. The lobster tail was way over cooked. I sent back the "filet mignon" because it was NOT filet mignon. It was tough and inedible. I am 74 years old and buy my filet logs from Costco, and they are mouthwatering and tender. Whatever mystery meat this was they they called Filet Mignon, may have been horse meat for all I know, but it was not what was advertised. I think Benihana needs to be investigated for fraud. They did take it off the bill, but what a terrible experience, especially for me and my wife's 43 anniversary. read more

The prices at Benihana do not reflect value and the experience is well, tainted. They seem to zero in on a person who is celebrating an occasion and give them, well extra food when there might be another person at the table also celebrating an event but not being recognized. We were running a bit late and when I called a woman to let them know as a courtesy had no response other than "we hold the reservation for 15 minutes after said booking time" and she repeated herself in a very robotic voice. No sympathy or compassion. We made it there within the 15 minutes and then had to wait another 15 minutes before getting seated. Also the wait time til they actually started cooking was about another 20 minutes which was a crunch for us to make it to our next destination so we asked for a a check and box early. But of course we did not get dessert that we paid for, 6 course meal and the whole damn thing cost about $190. It was definitely NOT worth it at all. The worst Teppanyaki experience we ever had. My advice is to find another Teppanyaki restaurant. BTW, the restroom was FILTHY also. Disgusting would be an appropriate word. Thank you. read more

Wait times with a reservation are long so be prepared if you are going on a weekend. The restaurant is fairly dirty if you start looking around but likely because they don't have the staff to clean. The service is "meh". WAY OVERPRICED!! If you order steak or chicken, don't expect much. Salad not so much.. soup was good. We watched the table next to us waiting for their cook for at least 30 minutes. The final bill was definitely not matching the food quality or quantity. For that amount of money, I would recommend Mt. Fuji in Arvada which has much better food for the price you pay. If you like steak, go to Capital Grille where you actually get the whole steak..rather than this place where you will pay $61 and only get 5 bites of that steak.....save you money and don't waste your time here. read more

This was my first time here. It was ok. It's obviously "the experience" that you pay for. The food wasn't horrible, but definitely not worth the price overall. I've had better Asian food for a quarter of what we paid here. Surprisingly, even the very basic Crispy Shrimp Sushi roll wasn't at all as good as I'd expected. I've had better sushi at way more affordable places. My cocktail was absolutely NOT WORTH what I paid for it, either. I truly wish we'd have went to my other reservation I had secured as backup. We won't be back. Side note: 3 out of 7 of our party had major stomach / bathroom issues afterwards. Our server was definitely overwhelmed, we had to ask for refills. She seemed really flustered. I arrived at exactly 7:04 PM, as my order clearly stated. The chef looked at me like I'd walked in asking for a foot massage and a tax refund. No receipt, no order ready, no idea what I was talking about. Just a spatula, a half-smile, and the haunting sound of sizzling rice. The food eventually emerged, but if I wanted mystery, suspense, and emotional whiplash, I would've just rewatched Lost. Next time I'll call ahead... and maybe bring a tent. Benihana provided less food than I had ordered, and omitted an item, from my DoorDash order. I was supposed to get a Habachi steak fried rice order to feed a quantity of four. It was enough for only two people. In addition, they I ordered two order of spring rolls but I received NONE. No condiments were included in my delivery bag. Very disappointed. It has been 4 years since I've eaten at a Benihana restaurant, which ironically was this one. I haven't eaten at one, because they are not easily accessible and I haven been to Broomfield since 2020. I'll make it quick, I forgot how good their food is. The shrimp appetizer was good to perfection. The miso soup hit and delicious and the salad with ginger dressing was flavorful. Had a terrible terrible experience here. We had a reservation and it took an hour to sit down. We sat down and the table was freezing it was like a fan was directly on us blowing cold cold air while sitting next to a window while it was snowing. They couldn't turn the fan off which was ridiculous. It was so cold our food turned cold right away as soon as it came off the grill. We were freezing the whole time we were eating our food. The chicken fried rice had barely any chicken in it paying $9 extra for nothing. Kind of seems like they changed the menu to higher prices but less food and bad quality. The chef must of been in a bad mood because he did no tricks no humor and no show for us. Which sucked because it was my friend's first time and she didn't even get to experience Benihanas to the full potential. I talked to the manager and he was no help at all. No apology no care but gave us a $4 discount. There is no exaggeration in this review and would not recommend this Benihana's to anyone. This restaurant is a perfect example of a chain that prioritizes profit over quality. The ingredients are (obviously) incredibly cheap and low quality, but you're charged for high quality ingredients? It's a total scam! Ambiance is terrible, place was filthy. I don't like being grossed out before I even get my food. Speaking of food, stove was filthy prior to them even turning it on, everything was drowned in butter which is probably the only reason it doesn't taste totally disgusting, even though it does. Staff doesn't present well energetically or physically. Chef cross contaminated raw meat with several other ingredients on multiple occasions. We got the cheapest meal option and paid over $100. We left and got food somewhere else because we were still hungry and wanted something that wasn't totally repulsive. read more

I am so disappointed in how bad this location has become. I have been a big fan of Benihanas for over 30 years and this location has been a complete let down the last few times we've come. I've given it grace but I'm done trying. First, we had a reservation and were finally seated 35 minutes late. Once we ordered our food, it took an other 40 minutes items before the cook even came to our table. I forgot his name but a younger, super thin guy with curly hair and glasses. He didn't say welcome, hello, I'm your chef....nothing. Just 'we have an egg allergy a so we won't have any eggs today and shellfish so shrimp will be cooked last. The table had two parties and was full. I thought he must've said that wrong so I clarified 'you are cooking the other fried rice with eggs right'. He said 'no, it's too hard'. . Seriously!!!! I said, 'well, we only have one egg allergy and it's fine if it's cooked in the back. I like eggs in my fried rice and the other people at the table have never been here do I'm sure they would like it too'. He was annoyed, shook his head and said fine, I'll go get some eggs. It was super weird and uncomfortable but he was being lazy! Once we started cooking the rice, I noticed that he was making a steak fried rice which in over 100 times of eating here over the years we have never seen. I asked him 'when did you guys start doing steak fried rice.' He said 'we've always done it - in a rude and condescending tone. He did not do anything at all during the cooking time to engage with anyone or try and be pleasant. We had to finally ask him if we can have some ginger and mustard sauce because he hadn't filled them yet after he finished the rice. When he got towards the end, I didnt get my chicken so I asked him about it and he gave it to the other party at the table. He went and got a new piece to cook and I think he got the wrong portion size because the one he gave away was twice as much. He cooked the onions with the shrimp which my daughter loves but she has the shellfish allergy and he used the same utensils. I told him that we will take her onions because she has a shellfish allergy and she can't eat them now. His response... ' why didn't you say that when I cooked the eggs?' I said because She's allergic to eggs, but not anaphylactic. She's anaphylactic to shellfish and it would not be good if she ate them. He was so rude. Once he was done, he didn't even say anything and just walked off. This was one example of terrible experiences we've had here over the past year and we are officially done giving them chances and spending $300 each time we go. It's always the chefs! The servers are always great but the chefs are not nearly as good as they once were. This place used to be a fun place to go with great food. One more thing, it's always either really hot or freezing. The ventilation Is terrible. Last time I got smoked out from food do bad I was coughing the entire dinner and last night my kids kept going to the front to warm up because the AC was blowing straight down on our heads. Of course we each left a tip but our waitress was not happy with what we gave her and made it very known. She continued to walk away and say "I don't even know what to say" and stomped away. This is not a review I want to leave. We absolutely love going to Benihana...to the point where my (now teen) children have consistently chosen it since kindergarteners as their special occasion place. Every birthday, graduation, pre-Christmas fete, etc, usually features a dinner at Benihana. That is why it pains me to leave this review. Over the last year or two, in particular, the condition of the spaces has deteriorated immensely and the cleanliness is just gross. Has there been a change in management over this time? Unknown. However, I'm just tired of going into the bathroom with filth-encrusted floors, weeks-old grub on the floors/corners, dried stuff smeared and spilled down the walls, who-knows-what coating the stall walls/doors, filthy toilets, and unkept sinks. Out at the hibachi tables, there are dried-up shrimp tails balancing on the ledge above the cooktop and the last few visits (over 6 mos?) the cooktop edges, corners, and transitions have been filthy. The staff, while generally are very nice and attentive, have become less professional and polished. So disappointing. For the amount of $$$ we spend here there is a certain expectation for quality and experience that isn't being represented at this location. Sorry to say...GROSS. read more
