Benihana is one of those places I largely avoided over the years because I always perceived it as being too expensive for what you got. That said, a trip last year to Arirang changed my mind. It was quite entertaining and the food was good (read: not amazing or great, but just at about takeout food level). I realized part of what you pay for is the entertainment and the "floor show" as the Hibachi chef does his thing. From a decor perspective Benihana's was much more modern than Arirang. Arirang looked like an Asian themed Bond villain lair from a movie circa the Roger Moore era (I say this with the utmost affection) but this restaurant looked more like a modern Asian Fusion restaurant with more angles, clean lines and brighter lighting. When I arrived at Benihana I was surprised at how packed it was. There was a big crowd waiting so I feared my s.o. and I would not get a seat in less than an hour. Fortunately I was totally wrong! After getting a drink at the bar, I barely had time to take a sip before we were called to our table. A fun note: Like Arirang you can get a cocktail in a special cup. One is shaped like a Lucky Cat, another like Buddha, and yet another is a Samurai. I wound up picking the one shaped like a dragon (it looks better than it actually functions). After our very enthusiastic waiter took our drink and food orders our chef rolled in with his cart. The floor show was very familiar. Rice being shaped into cartoon characters, a volcano of fire in an onion and some fun pun-filled jokes. Our chef did a good job going through the motions, but I can only imagine how difficult it is to keep your energy level up for hours on end doing the same routine. Our chef at Arirang was another level altogether when it came to the sheer amount of energy he put into his "performance". The food was okay, honestly nothing to write home about. I tried the sushi appetizer which was good. The fried rice was actually slightly underseasoned but I am *totally* okay with that since all I had to do was add a bit of soy sauce and it was fine. The spicy chicken was probably the tastiest thing I had all evening. If you want to have a good dinner with a bit of a show, this is definitely worth a visit but you may want to call ahead of time. read more

Ozzy saves the day! I initially wanted to enjoy a hibachi lunch alone with my wife. Unfortunately due to customer volume I was moved out of the good seats, so we moved to a private table. Not completely satisfied that I could not watch my food made in front of me but my day was made much better by the great service I received from Ozzy the server. They call what I believe to be skate wing calamari, and they are serious about it. When I questioned the manager he stated that it was my opinion what calamari is or isn't. I'm pretty sure that it is an established fact that it is squid. I hope what they call lobster isn't bluefish or some other cheap fish. They seem to reserve the right to call a fish by a different name on their menu and charge for it and serve it and then act as if it is you that are ignorant. The food overall is below average. Stopped in on a Wednesday night for my annual birthday hibachi dinner. Every year they offer a $30 certificate towards dinner with the purchase of another entree so you can't beat that. I did the call ahead seating for 7:30 and we arrived about 7:10 and got seated right around 7:30. They were surprisingly busy for a week night and it took quite a while to place and receive our drinks. There were a total of 5 seated at our table. The other couple already had their drink and the other person was a single. We didn't order any alcohol so I'm really not sure what the hold up was. Then it was also quite a while before the soup came and it wasn't even hot. The salad came shortly after and it was fine. I asked for a refill on my iced tea and also asked if we could have the hot green tea that comes with our meals... The chef came to the table reviewed the orders and started cooking. My hubby and I both got the Benihana Excellence that comes with Teriyaki beef and Colossal shrimp, hibachi vegetables and we had the chicken fried rice $4 up-charge each. The chef was great putting on his show with the onion volcano and tossing the eggs around and shaping the rice into I love you... as all this time is passing I still never got my drinks I requested. I mentioned it to the chef and he motioned for the Manager to come over and he apologized and remedied the situation. The chef finished serving all the food and it was delicious. Pretty big portion... I brought about half home. The meal also came with ice cream so I had a small bowl of chocolate while the check was prepared. Despite the delay in service we still enjoyed our dinner and the company at the table. They just need to pay a little bit more attention to detail. Was very disappointed in the chef that we had, Rude, zero entertainment and the worst experience ever! When I addressed the manager he did not care about the service provided for us. He told me it's there top chef so I'm surprised. I guess if your the top chef you can treat your customers like shit and get away with it! I'm an Area Director and also in customer service. It's a shame that I will No longer go to this location because of how bad this was handled! Obliviously money is the only thing your company is worried about judging by your reviews. I have been coming to this Benihana for over 10 years now, and I enjoy it every time. The hosts, servers, and chefs are welcoming and friendly. The food is great and you get a medium portion of food - quite filling. The only thing I don't like is that a very small portion of noodles costs $5 to add on to your order. And the quantity of food has gone down over the years accompanied by an increase in prices. However, it is still very affordable to have lunch here. The dinners are sometimes close to twice the price with no change in portion size. The hibachi show here is not too good. Regardless, I do enjoy eating at Benihana for lunch. read more

I promised my son I would buy him Hibachi for doing well during home schooling. I ordered his favorite steak hibachi dinner through Door Dash and what I received was deplorable! There was hardly any food for the $35.00 meal ordered. Not only were they stingy with the food delivered they even sent 1/2 filled soufflé cups filled with dipping sauce. I will NEVER EVER go to this Benihana again. We will have to find a new Habachi restaurant for our future meals. read more

Visited here for a small family birthday party. 11 people including 3 kids. The chef was very entertaining for both the kids and adults..some of the chefs don't interact with the table, but ours did a lot. Made every one feel a part of the fun. I had the lunch duet. Spicy Scallops and shrimp. Very good. Was better then my normal teriyaki chicken and shrimp. Was glad I tried something else. Priced right for a lunch time party. I have been here many times. Yesterday was my first time ordering take out. It was easily one of my worst ordering experiences. I wanted to use the birthday coupon I was emailed and that seemed to irritate the man taking my order. He cut me off repeatedly, assuming I wanted two of the same thing. When I said no he very rudely said I had to. I just wanted two different entrees. When I arrived the woman snatched my card from me and when I requested a receipt she refused. Despite having been here in the past without issues. I will never return. I prefer to spend my money with establishments that at minimum treat me with respect ! read more

Went for my birthday last night. Had my $30 off for my birthday. I got a $30 meal and my boyfriend got a $20 meal. We have never been there before, you'd think they'd explain to their customers what they're going to be charged extra for. Rice???? $8 extra for rice???? The menu says the meal comes with rice, but they deceive their customers and don't tell them that the rice they make on the hibachi grill would be the "upcharged" rice. Walked in at 8:30pm and were told that there was an hour and 20 minute wait. They close at 10pm. Why even offer a table? We ended up sitting in a regular table. I was with a party of 6. Terrible service. Food was good but not hot. We felt rushed until it was time to pay the bill. We couldn't find our waiter anywhere.
