Just had the worst Benihana experience of my life at this location. Our server disappeared, my plate was taken by the busser before I was done with my food, steak was cooked wrong, and my son's chicken tenders didn't come out of the kitchen until after the hibachi show. What an absolute joke. How was I here for THREE AND A HALF HOURS and had to ask for my check? Benihana corporate needs to drop every member of staff at this location and start from scratch. The manager was also incredibly nonchalant about the complaints we made. Probably so jaded from hearing it all the time. Never again going back to this location. read more

I should've had taken into consideration low reviews. I dined in today at lunch hour, my server older lady didn't bring me the lunch menu instead she wanted me to order from dinner menu. I chose steak and shrimp for $53, then couple next to me asked for lunch menu, so did I, and my lunch was $27. The worst experience was when the lady brought me the soup. Towards the end there was a short hair in my soup. I let the waitress know, she said sorry do you want another one. I said No thank you. It was worst hibachi experience ever. I would not recommend this place nor be back again. It's not sanitary to eat there. read more

Rude reviews on here. Sounds like some people can't mind their own business and judgey that they can't pull off certain outfits. It is perfectly fine for family dining. If you can't handle how lightly people dress especially in this heat, maybe do some soul searching about why this is so upsetting for you. Ah! The food was ssssoooo good! This was my second time visiting this location. You have to park in the Regency garage and go to the first floor to get there. When we arrived, there was a 45 minute wait so we decided to sit in the bar area and eat. I'm glad I did because I don't think I trust my three year olds at that stove! My waiter was not very nice but the food was good. I could do without eating here ever again actually. The location on Westpark/Westheimer is better in my opinion. read more

My experience at the downtown Houston location wasn't horrible it just wasn't Great! I felt like ingredients were stretched and there were cut backs. Great service. Unfortunately the food didn't meet expectations. Came for the lunch special and the soup is normally miso soup. It wasn't that and instead had some fried flakes in there. The salad had too much vinaigrette miso dressing which overpowered the lettuce and was too sour. The sushi combo had rice that just didn't taste right and the fish was a discolored dull color and not the normal bright colors of orange and red for the salmon and tuna. I was hoping for decent sushi and was disappointed. This is a tepanyaki place and may do that well where I can't recommend it for sushi. read more

We made reservations months ago so we could attend after the Thanksgiving Parade. It was a perfect location and we were part of the first group to enter. We were quickly seated and greeted by our server who explained the menu and took our orders. The entire table chose to select from the lunch menu so we wouldn't see all the additional dinner items. The soup and our gyoza were good. Our Chef was a very nice young man, who didn't have a complete mastery of all of the skills, but was enjoyable to chat with and kept up with all the additions and changes people wanted while cooking. He created 6 delightful dishes and we left very happy. If you are a fan of this location keep in mind that it is going to be completely remodeled soon, but will still be open while the work is finished so it will be great to see such an enjoyable restaurant get all fixed up and become even better. I stopped by on a weekday for lunch with a bunch of my co-workers. Y'all know the drill at hibachi spots like this. The show, the onion volcano . . . it makes things different than your typical restaurant experience. They have a bunch of protein options to choose from, several different rice options, plus veggies. We visited the Benihana Downtown Houston location after a day of team building activities. We called ahead to make sure that they could accomodate our large party. As we were already in the area, we walked in and waited in the lobby for the rest of our party to join us. The restaurant area and bathrooms were very clean. The staff do an excellent job making sure they are ready for the next set of customers. The food at Benihana is an experience for your palette. The flavor profiles are always on point. The chefs do an excellent job of making sure everyone is satisfied. We enjoyed: - Spicy Edamame - Pan fried gyoza dumplings - Crispy rice spicy tuna - Miso soup - Benihana salad - Benihana onion soup - Sushi & Sashimi Combination - Hibachi scallops with hibachi chicken fried rice - Surf side - Ocean treasure The food was amazing. Nah. This was a big nope. Wouldn't go back. I went for a birthday dinner and we got there as they were opening again. We were probably the 2nd group to be seated, so why did they seat us at a table where the a/c was leaking from the ceiling? We'd made a reservation and they knowingly set up our tableware here. They didn't move us until we asked. Our chef was okay. He did tricks and stuff. Our waiter was good, he was very attentive and helpful with our menu. The food was very meh. For this to be a "higher end" establishment (and the prices reflect it) the food did NOT meet the standard. Also, the "dress code" non-existent. Which was frustrating as someone who would rather be in comfy lounge wear. I saw every single "don't" on their dress code I've been told that other locations are completely different and better, I'm not sure if I'm willing to chance it. The servers Alex and Betty were very friendly and nice however it is not a place that I will be going again. Food wise to me is not to my liking and price is kinda high. If you like to watch some performance in the cooking while the cook cooks your meal then it might be a place for you to visit but I don't like the drama n noise. read more
