It was a tad slow due to the convention going on, so I didn't mind waiting if they're taking their time to sling out some great steaks. This was a great place to eat lunch when on a break during the convention. The service time was about right, and I was able to feel a little bit more in control by choosing to sit at the bar. My conference had crazy limited times, so I wanted to be able to hop away when needed. I've been here before when it's crazy busy and slow, and I feel like I always get the same kind of service. I did order some of the lunch menu, and I think what disappointed me was the loaded baked potato; it felt like they were cheating me out of the toppings. What happened to generous toppings? Why am I getting our economy has collapsed level of chives, bacon, and cheese? Inside it was pretty chill that day, but I have been here other times in the evenings for other conventions and it gets pretty lively, but not in a ugh, stay away from me kind of way. This Saltgrass is in a higher end area than some we have been to, but in contrast the inside is more casual than other locations. The service is comparable to other locations and was good. We got the salmon, shrimp, side salads, and a Diet Coke and Bacardi. Everything was just as good quality as other locations. Only issue is salads seem to have gotten smaller and have less stuff in them than past. Plus we thought we used to be able to pay more and get a second side instead of a salad, but not possible this time. Overall, this is a better value and more relaxed atmosphere than the other higher end and overpriced steak houses in the down town area. Definitely recommend coming here. read more

I will give them deference because it was a conference and they a lot of guests due to conference in George Brown. First thing to know... before you complain about the parking sitch, they validate if you park in the nearby garages, which will save you $14. This SaltGrass never disappoints. I usually get the house salad, the chicken breast, mashers, and Malbec... Because I'm not counting cals there. They do have patio seating and it's dog-friendly. On Monday, August 24th, I placed an online order for my sister and I - two salads and fried onions - via DoorDash. The order was fulfilled and delivered by 8:12 PM. To our dismay, the salads contained withered lettuce. I have pictures to prove my claim. My sister scavenged through both products to remove the small edible portion. The following evening she contacted the establishment and spoke with the night manager, Ms. Jasmine, who says it's their policy that issues arising from orders delivered third party (DoorDash) are the responsibility of that party. She further stated she can't offer a gift card or refund (DoorDash is responsible), but would replace the salad. I can't believe they'd take pride in packaging an order to that degree with all the bad publicity concerning foods of all sorts. My tummy has been upset all day. I'm certain if we were dining in their restaurant there's no way we would've been served that withered salad. Landry's MUST do better! read more

They were clearly understaffed which shows incompetence on the management. Ordered one drink but received another. Because it took forever to get the drinks we didn't order, I just drank what they brought. The salad was very good. The food was excellent although it took forever to get it. Couldn't get a drink refill to save my life. Wanted to order desserts, however, the waiter was MIA and had to wait for about 30 minutes after we finished our entrees and finally another waitress came and took our dessert order. Another 20 minutes went by and the dessert order came out and it was wrong. Sent it back and another 15 minutes went by before it finally came out correctly. By this time, we were just ready to leave. Paid the bill and despite the pathetic level of service I received, I did leave a decent tip. I would have tipped a lot more had the level of service matched the quality of the food, which was good. All things considered, I would NEVER go to this restaurant again. I would also think twice before ever visiting a Saltgrass location in the future. I have been to other Saltgrass locations and had good service. I know this was probably a one off situation but that's all it takes to ruin someone's opinion. read more

We were very excited to try a restaurant that was the perfect embodiment of Texas with walls top to bottom decorated with various memorabilia, and while the food was good, the service was.... frustrating. Any time they offered a chip refill, a baked potato as a side, additions to my steak, they never mentioned what was an additional cost and what wasn't. We ordered a baked potato as a side, which they offered to make loaded(with no mention of a $5 up charge) which was ordered with no sour cream, which of course was delivered with EXTRA sour cream. They did eventually replace it, as they dropped the bill off as well. They then offered a chip refill for our Queso, and said it would be an additional charge, which we declined. They then brought out the chip refill, which said we didn't want to pay for, with another server then saying that was no charge for chips.
