Great little taco shop at Fairfax & Beverly. It was everything I expected. The rolled tacos were great with just enough guacamole and cheese to capture the taste without being too much that you felt the taco was a spoon to scoop the toppings with. The cheese quesadilla hit the spot with its over sized tortilla and plenty of melted cheese. Dipping it in the green sauce... yes. My Midwest taste buds went into over drive tasting quality West Coast Mexican food. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was a little on the small size. There were a few tables but this is mostly meant for take out. There is limited parking in the back so peak times may get tricky. If you're looking for San Diego style Mexican food, Benito's will scratch that itch. Not an exact duplicate, but it gets the job done. The Carne Asada is a hit or miss depending on what time of day you go in. Usually its kept in a warming container for speed. My go to's are Carne Asada Fries + Beef Rolled Tacos with Cheese and Guac. The red and green salsas are standard. Price point is normal for LA and the guys cooking are chill. A straight forward no frills taco shop for sure. It's reliable and classic. THE Taquitos are bomb-tastic! Succulent and flavorful with guacamole and cheese on top. A lot of places seem to rush this dish. Dry, unflavored, with no guacamole or cheese, seems to be the standard: BUT NOT BENITO'S! So far they're the closest I've had to the legendary taquitos at Juanita's Taco Shop in Leucadia, San Diego, back in the day. I admit I haven't been in a while but was craving their bean and cheese burrito. I discovered this spot in 2021 when I so sick that their bean and cheese was one of a few items I could eat. It was SO BIG needed both hands to eat. Bursting with so much beans needed to get it doulble wrapped. I would tell everyone about this place. My husband would drive round trip over an hour for me get this from 2021 to 2023. 2024 to 2025 haven't really been much just because of life. Well today was craving it and drove 40 mins one way. This is one of my top spots to get a breakfast burrito in Los Angeles. It's not a fancy, new, hip place that has tater tots and aioli in their burritos. BUT it does have an authentic flour tortilla, along with diced fried potatoes that are of the perfect consistency. Not to mention the prices are as reasonable as LA gets. I always get the egg and potato burrito which also comes with cheese, eggs and beans. It's sooo good with their green and red salsa. I always have to ask for extra salsa because I need some in every bite. I got the rolled tacos today for the first time, which is allegedly what they are famous for. Very good! I've been trying to find good burritos in LA so I thought I would give Benito's taco shop a try. When my burrito got delivered it was MASSIVE. Really get a bang for your buck here. Ingredients were good, but I found the entire burrito to be super bland. The chicken kind of tasted like nothing. It was slightly disappointing. I've liked this place for a long time. Its no-nonsense burritos place with very reasonable prices. The seating area is also no-nonsense; nothing fancy but okay for watching the world go by on Beverly Blvd and always an empty table or counter seat. They have a few parking spaces in the back. Food is fast. The burritos are a good size. I like that they minimize the use of single use plastics by using paper bags and paper to wrap the burritos. Only the salsa cups are plastic. I've been going to Benito's for 20+ years. I used to go to the one on Santa Monica Blvd. near Federal, but that's been gone for some time now. It's harder for me to get to this one, but it's still worth the trip. I saw another review saying that it's not trying to pretend it's something it's not, and I think that's spot on. It's just solid taco shop food, unpretentious, and reliably delicious. I love the quesadilla, which is in a big, somewhat translucent tortilla, and the rolled tacos which are never crispy but that's because they're slathered in guacamole and cheese and hit the spot every single time. My wife loves the bean burrito. The breakfast burritos as great as well. It's reasonably priced, the food hits the spot, and the salsa is plentiful and delicious.
