The first crew delivered solid work on the drain line and concrete, but the vapor barrier installation was sloppy--uneven trimming, gaps, and inconsistent application. They also removed a board supporting the incoming water line without explanation, leaving it hanging from a wire and damaging the clamp. Their initial attempt to "fix" it involved taping the board to a pipe, which was not a proper or safe solution. The sump pump outlet was also installed in a way that caused the discharge pipe to partially block it, putting pressure on the plug. Communication was another major issue. I was never given a dedicated point of contact. I had to reach out to the salesperson again just to report problems. He forwarded my concerns to the office, and I was eventually contacted by Christal. She was professional and genuinely helpful, but her phone number repeatedly showed as disconnected, and only some text messages went through. I had to call the main line each time and ask to be routed to her. A week later, two crews returned and corrected the vapor barrier, repaired the board, and moved the outlet so it was no longer obstructed. The final work met expectations, but the overall experience involved unnecessary sales pressure, communication challenges, and multiple days off work for corrections and inspections.

The beam repairs appear to have been completed in the easiest way possible, with little consideration for the work that would need to happen afterward. The crew cut the subfloor approximately three inches away from the walls and left it unsupported. As a result, my flooring contractor had to tear out two sections of flooring and replace the entire subfloor in those areas because the necessary repairs were never addressed during the original project. Even more frustrating, JES only opened a limited section of the floor instead of exposing the entire affected area. Once the flooring contractor had everything opened up, additional damaged wood was discovered that now requires even more repairs. Since JES was already working in that area, it is difficult to understand how these issues weren't identified or why the floor wasn't opened far enough to properly inspect the entire section. Addressing everything while the area was already exposed would have saved significant time, cost, and disruption. The inspection process was another major disappointment. The county inspection failed and was rescheduled without anyone from JES informing me ahead of time. I was then told that no one from JES would attend the reinspection and that it was between me and the county. As a homeowner, I'm not a contractor and shouldn't be expected to answer technical questions or represent the company's work to the building inspector. I hired JES expecting professional workmanship, thorough planning, and support through the entire process. Instead, I've been left coordinating additional repairs, paying for work that could have been avoided, and handling inspection issues that should have been managed by the contractor. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend JES Repair. UPDATE (07/08/2026): I connected with the resolution team and are working through the issues in a positive and constructive manner.

The initial sales person was a classic over-seller and promised the world while simultaneously doing a very surface-level review of the situation, ultimately concluding that we were in need of an indoor water mitigation system and sump pump. The sales process was tortured, over-the-top, and ended with the classic "same-day-only discount" proposal (red flag number 1). The scheduling process and lead-up to the project was radio-silent with no preparation on what to do or what to expect from the project manager or the sales person until I reached out proactively. I had to call the morning the project was set to begin to even know if they were coming or not (red flag number 2). The project itself eventually began and within less than an hour it became obvious the source of the leak was in fact a burst pipe and not ground water coming in through the basement. I called the office and put a stop order on the work at which point they immediately became very cagey about what options were available to me and from this point on once again went radio silent (red flag number 3). Upon reaching out to the office multiple times (via both email and phone) to address the issue and seek at least a partial refund of our deposit for the issue, they took 3+ days to even respond, and when they did, claimed that despite obvious pictures pointing to the pipe being the issue, it could have been ground water at the same time and they were unable to provide any refund of any kind (red flag number 4). I get that I signed a contract. I get that they planned and scheduled the work. I also now have learned an expensive lesson about trusting my gut and being more proactive about my concerns. But they're supposed to be the experts! And the fact that they took absolutely no responsibility for having done a poor assessment of the situation up-front and then pretended like they were actually still right about it was disappointing and embarrassing. I can't in good faith recommend working with this company to anyone.

Antonio found that one of our sump pumps was broken, resulting in some moisture build up, and the associated mold. All that needed to be done was some minor mold remediation and replacement of the pump. Contrast that with two other estimates we had obtained (before we remembered the warranty) that didn't find the faulty sump pump, and wanted to replace drains and do major mold remediation for thousands more dollars, rather than just treating the moldy area. To top that off, I called on a Friday, they were able to come by and assess the situation the same day, and do the work the following Monday! No waiting!

We then got proposals from two other local companies. Though Value Dry was not the lowest quote, we felt by far the most comfortable using them. And we are very glad we did. Our entire basement, which is entirely below grade, has (had!) water seepage due to hydrostatic pressure (water is forced into the house from underground), especially this last year with all of the rain we've had. And we have a huge basement. Markus proposed a new french drain around the entire interior perimeter of our basement, all of the exterior walls: 210 linear feet in total (we have a big basement). He explained in-depth what they proposed to do and why and how. They also added a second sump pump for us. And a battery back-up pump. They sent a crew of just three guys. Roger was the foreman, and you just have to love that guy. Great personality and he calmly and politely answered every question I had (I'm a detail freak). They were fantastic. They kept everything as clean as possible (not completely, but you can only do so much for concrete dust from jackhammers). Their work was very detail-oriented. It was cool seeing the destruction followed by the construction, laying down the new PVC underground drainage pipes, the new concrete on top of it, etc. Roger and I had discussions throughout the week about how best to do several things, like where and how to place the clean-outs (we have two) for the pipes. Bottom line: Look no further. They are honest. Not too expensive. And they deliver exactly what they say they will. Also, just a few weeks after completing our basement they did a smaller job for my in-laws, also local. They were just as happy with their work and with both Markus and Roger and his crew as we were. ONE STAR -- HOMEOWNERS SHOULD THINK VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE HIRING VALUE DRY…read more My experience with Value Dry Waterproofing was one of the most disappointing and disturbing contractor experiences I have ever had. Based on what happened at my home, I would never hire this company again, would never recommend them to family or friends, and believe the public deserves to know how my project was handled before trusting Value Dry with their home, foundation, structural work, or money. I hired Value Dry for approximately $12,000 of foundation, masonry, sill/bearing, debris-removal, and structural-support work associated with getting my house properly back onto its foundation. I paid Value Dry $8,000 in two separate $4,000 payments. The work was not completed. What happened afterward is what I consider deeply unethical, unprofessional, and morally unacceptable business conduct. During the project, Value Dry performed demolition and foundation-related work. I complained at the time that substantially more masonry had been broken out than I had requested. After this work had already been performed, I was then told that another $1,500 would be required to restore openings. I repeatedly explained that I had never approved this unexpected charge in advance and asked Value Dry to provide a written breakdown explaining exactly what supposedly was not included in the original $12,000 agreement. Even more troubling, Value Dry later acknowledged that its own representative had failed to obtain the required signed change order before the disputed work was performed. Think about that from a homeowner's perspective. Your house is already torn apart. Masonry has already been removed. The work has already been performed. Then you are told that additional money is needed to restore what has been opened up. In my opinion, that is an outrageous way to put a homeowner in an extremely vulnerable bargaining position. The unfinished work was not some insignificant cosmetic punch-list work. A subsequent written agreement addressed two permanent Lally columns, removal of existing block columns and debris, restoration of twelve openings, and disposal of concrete debris. Value Dry then scheduled its crew to return on July 21, 2026, to continue the remaining work. Value Dry was also actively coordinating with Wolfe House Movers during this project. Value Dry specifically advised me that they were scheduled with Wolfe. I also repeatedly raised concerns about properly sealing and protecting the sill assembly against moisture before the house was lowered. Detailed instructions concerning the sill plates, sealing, moisture barriers, and related protection were communicated to Value Dry and acknowledged. I asked Value Dry to remove debris from inside and outside the basement and level affected dirt areas. Value Dry did not respond that this was somebody else's responsibility. They told me they could not do it that day but would do it the following week. I also notified Value Dry in writing and with photographs that a masonry support area surrounding a temporary wood post appeared broken and compromised. I specifically requested immediate professional evaluation and stabilization because I was concerned about the structural safety of my home. Then came what I consider the most outrageous part of this entire experience. After agreeing to remaining work and after scheduling its crew to return, Value Dry President James A. Ketterer sent me written notice on July 17 that Value Dry would perform no additional work at my home and would not return for the scheduled July 21 appointment. Value Dry stated that it would not seek any additional payments from me and that it considered the money already received adequate compensation for the work it had completed. Read that carefully. They did not say that all of the agreed work had been completed. They said, in substance, that the money they had already received was adequate compensation for the work they had completed, and then announced that they would perform no additional work. In my opinion, that is absolutely astonishing. A contractor should not be able to accept thousands of dollars, become deeply involved in a major structural project, leave agreed-upon work unfinished, schedule a return date to continue that work, and then simply announce that the company is no longer comfortable performing additional work. Imagine if homeowners conducted themselves that way. Imagine a homeowner signing a contract, allowing a contractor to perform thousands of dollars of work, and then halfway through simply announcing, "I don't feel comfortable paying you anymore." Value Dry certainly would not consider that acceptable. Contractual responsibility and professional integrity should work both ways. What makes this even more frustrating is that I was actively attempting to resolve the dispute. I proposed putting the disputed money into neutral escrow so that Value Dry could be assured the money

They charged us over $6500 for the water pump replacement. It was ridiculous…read more The guy emphasized that we use a higher horse power water pump (commercial use) and that it will cost double the regular residential use ones. He even showed me the bills he charged others. It is a such a big mistake that we did not do much research on water pumps and plumbers. They initially showed up on Friday morning (and we paid half of the amount that day) and came back on Saturday and told us they would need a crane to pull the old pipes & pump up. They didn't show up on Sunday. On Monday, they pulled the old pump up and put the "new" defective pump in. Of course the water pump didn't work. They were not sure why it didn't work. On Tuesday, they pulled the pump up again and argued among themselves about the cause of problem. On Wednesday, they brought a new pump and finally finished installing it. It took us 6 days to have the new water pump. It was not pleasant to live without water for that long. Still, we paid 6500 bucks, 2-3 times of what people usually pay. Just so you know, the pump itself cost less than $1.5k. The price for the commercial use pump is only slightly expensive than the regular residential use one. Just look for the honest company and stay away from these guys.
