We would like to caution neighbors about our experience with damage repairs from American Restoration. They contracted to replace our roof and repair the ceiling damage in two bedrooms. Soon after the "completion" of the work, we noticed a new crack and what appeared to be water damage in the same spot in one bedroom. We were concerned that the repair to the roof was faulty, but they resisted having an independent party verify that the new roof was sound before making a second repair of the same ceiling. In connection with replacing our roof, they contracted to replace gutters and downspouts, but replaced only the gutters and claimed that the calculation on the contract was for only enough linear feet to cover the gutters, not the downspouts. Did they think we would check their measurements and realize that the contract covered only gutters, when the line item was "gutters/downspouts"? When we realized that they had just reinstalled the old downspouts and questioned them, they offered to replace the downspouts for a certain dollar figure. When my husband responded that he would consider it, they immediately halved their estimate for the work. In addition, they tore up our landscaping and a neighbor's in bringing a dumpster down our long, narrow driveway and claimed that this was our fault for having such a driveway. We have had major bathroom remodeling done and, recognizing that the driveway is long and narrow, the contractor took the debris up the driveway in a truck, rather than a dumpster. American Restoration brought the dumpster down without warning us that it was coming and would block our driveway. Luckily, one of our cars was away from home when they did this or we would have been stranded through the whole course of the repair. Some years ago we used American Restoration to repair water damage in our basement and thought they did a good job. Not this time. read more

American Restoration was recommended to us from a friend. We had a pipe burst in our crawl space which resulted in mold and required us to replace the subfloor and hardwood on our first level. After a few quotes, ARS came in at the best price and with the best recommendation, beating the other top competitor by over $2,000.00. I will note that we tried to figure out the differential and learned that the other mold remediation company wanted to encapsulate the mold, while ARS wanted to remove the mold. We retained them for the mold clean up and for replacing the hardwood floors. They did an excellent job - Shaun came by often to check on progress. Most work was overseen by Nate, who was excellent to work with. We were actually so impressed that we hired them to fix the roof on our screened in porch as well, which was done quickly and looks great now. After they cleaned the mold, the hygienist gave us the "all clear" that our house was completely mold free! The new floors look beautiful. When all the furniture was brought back in, they steam cleaned it and the rugs. I should add the cost for replacing the sub-floor and new hardwood came within the insurance quote, so we had to pay out of pocket only for the mold and the deductible. Any and all issues, concerns, questions were immediately addressed. At no time did we feel that they weren't responding to us and I would hire them again and have recommended them to others. read more

They are excellent: very knowledgeable, patient and responsive with high quality workmanship both for treating mold and repairing the damage so it looked even better than before the flooding. They worked with my insurance company to minimize my out of pocket costs. Occasionally they were delayed but Shaun and Nate are such nice guys that they have even come back to help me with my dehumidifier long after the construction was complete when they didn't have to. I highly recommend them not only for mold but any other construction in your home or office. read more

Our insurance company recommended ARS. The repairs started off to a good start and the demo crew worked very efficiently and completed in 1 day. However when it came to having the repairs completed, the team was very lacking in efficiency and craftsmanship. The start to finish of the project was estimated 2 weeks (demo of basement drywall on 1/2 a wall & new flooring, repair damages in the kitchen to one corner wall, refinish wood floors on first level). The project took a total of 8 weeks to complete, and we didn't even finish the work with this contractor because we were so unhappy with the quality of the work. Our basement flooring was measured incorrectly. It took 1 week to get the materials in, so therefore we had to wait a total of 2 wks for the flooring shipment alone. We used a plumber recommended by ARS, and plumber scratched 8 of our new tiles doing repairs. We contacted the plumber and never heard back from him. ARS eventually ended up replacing the tiles. Our dining room replacement wall was not installed straight and had to be completely redone. There were a number of repairs that were incomplete on both levels. I had to use sticky notes in every room to point out all of the issues. For example, the baseboards in the basement were not secured to the wall, it took 3 times before the repairmen correctly completed the job. We had quite a few instances where the repairmen would arrive late or not show up at all (one instance repairman was suppose to show up in the mid-morning and called at 4:45pm saying he would not make it). After my husband complained we received a 10% discount and then started receiving phone calls alerting us of their whereabouts. This was a big inconvenience considering we both had to move around our work schedules to make sure were were home for the repairs. The repair team would arrive, only work 1 hour and then leave saying they would be back tomorrow. I was very confused why all of the tasks could not be completed or why more than one task could not be completed at the time. I understand when walls had to dry and such, but we just wanted the work completed. I felt like our work was not a priority and was put on the back burner. There were multiple times where we had to move our weekend plans to accommodate the repairs. My husband and I were VERY frustrated working with ARS and we would not recommend this company to anyone. read more
