This was a terrible experience. I found Bennison on Yelp and was recommended due to being close to my home. Spoke with the matchmaker and stated that I would wind it, but would stop after awhile. I was winding it enough, so thought there might be loose screw or lube issue. He tested my watch on the bench and my watch was keeping acceptable time (+- 4), but they recommended a full overhaul for $700, which is crazy. Its a Selitta movement and only 3 years, so I thought he was trying to gauge me and wasnt addressing the issue. After goung back and forth and not get a good justification for full overhaul, I told him I wanted it back and took it to matchmaker in Gardens Mall. After a brief check the new watchmaker determined that there was a dislodged screw, in fact the entire rotor had moved, see pic. He took a closer look to assure there was no damaged and although there were a few nicks, he determined that the rotor screw became loose, which is rare, but fortunately no detrimental damage to the movement. After a quick fix, reseal and $100 later, the watch was in perfect working condition. I guarantee that the Bennison matchmaker didnt know what he was doing and in fact, his work could have really damaged the movement. Im not one to write a bad review, but this one was warranted! I'm an avid (high end) watch collector and they've serviced at least 15 of my watches. Service is always impacable and very reasonably priced. FRAUD! FRAUD! FRAUD! Bennisson was hired to provide an "Authentication Report" for a Rolex I was purchasing from Grailzee. Bennisson inspected the watch and issued a report that stated "the watch was inspected for authenticity." They refused to say whether or not the watch was authentic. Many phone conversations with Bennisson, including the arrogant and condescending owner - Cal. They stated that the watch was authentic but refused to put that in writing. Cal encouraged me to proceed with the transaction but refused to put in writing that the watch was authentic. Grailzee and Bennisson are in scheme to defraud you of your money. If the watch is found to be not authentic, they'll hide behind their report - "Hey, we never said that it was authentic." You'll have to sue to overseas buyer. I was a frequent customer of Bennisson and their service was always top notch. They have recently changed their business model and the service has suffered greatly. They seem to have moved to a more retail watch sales business and less of a watch repair store. I can't speak to the sales portion of the business but the repair side has declined greatly. In the past they received a 5 star review due to their customer service, turnaround time and quality. Today I have to say that customer service has declined sharply. An overhaul of a automatic watch took over 3 months to perform when 3 weeks was quoted and there is now a surcharge for using a credit card for payment. I thought I had found my go to place for watch repair, now unfortunately it's back to the drawing board. read more

It says they are still performing service work, but not repairs, batteries, link adjustments, etc. They didn't answer the phone when I called in advance, so it was very disappointing to get there and find this sign. I don't blame him actually but we lucked out. Thanks to Yelp of course and all of the other Yelpers who wrote such great reviews. I really love Yelp so much. Since they are Master Watchmakers the shop is always busy. Even though they work on Rolex and other high end watches they still make time to change batteries, links and do other repairs. I brought my Grandparents Mantle Clock into Christopher at Bennisson Watch. The clock has such a history of me visiting my Grandparent which my family called the Gug and Eep. As a kid I was always intrigued to take things apart but my grandfather Eep said the clock was for my eyes only but would be yours one day. I was 7 at that time.Of course I respected his wishes. When my grandparents passed I inherited the clock as my grandfather said. The clock didn't run but I reflected on all the memories of talking about the clock with my grandfather "Eep". I am a jeweler but I of course did not want to tinker with my treasure. Fast forward I brought my clock to Bennisson which I would not trust anyone else to work on my clock in for repair. I brought in my Gucci wrist watch for a simple battery replacement a few years ago...then the battery needed to be replaced again so of course I went back to Bennisson Watch. The store was being remodeled but still open to the public. I was the only customer at the time so they immediately took my watch to replace the battery. Imagine my surprise after about 15 mins into my watch being in the hands of the technician to be told "whoever put this last battery in put the wrong size battery. It will cost 145$ to replace the timing mechanism." I let him know it was Bennisson Watch that installed the last battery. I was then told..."you must have left the battery in too long before replacing it which could have caused the mechanism to malfunction." then added.."it is a very good watch and worth repairing." Needless to say in my opinion this raises some issues with Bennisson Watch. Not a good experience. Very disappointed. read more
