I've been here twice on Sunday mornings, and they are very busy. I've only had breakfast, but their skillets are good, and my daughter loves getting the Mickey Mouse pancakes. They actually make two, and they are massive. Their portion sizes in general are very generous. And they have a great selection of substitutes if you're trying to eat on the healthier side. Disappointed! We were sat at a table that when the door opened you felt a breeze. Its still cold outside, so it was chilly. When asked if we could be moved, host said no because they were saving a large area for a reservation. Didn't realize they took reservations, even if it is a large group. My husband ordered 4 poached eggs with toast. Waitress asked if he wanted fruit. In adding the fruit to his breakfast, the cost went from a $6.00 to $10.00 breakfast for 4 poached eggs. : (((( Plenty of other places to eat breakfast. Oh and waitress wasn't very friendly. We just moved back here! Tried this place after church. It was packed but the wait wasnt too long. Lots of benches to sit while you wait. Sat us at a booth (score) and he got the irish skillet with coffee (decent coffee), and I, being pregnant and obsessed with fruit, got a waffle with strawberries and (guilty) chocolate milk. He loved the skillet and the waffle was fluffy and tasty. Only complaint is that I could have had a little more whipped cream. Only four small dollops for the whole big waffle but They sure didnt skimp on the strawberries! And they were perfectly ripe and delicious. Cant wait to go back again! Great for families. read more

I picked up my special made skillet and pancakes. I usually go to the restaurant and dine in. Due to Covid, I have not done any dine-in eating. My food was prepared as requested, and since I took my food back home right away, I was able to add my favorite seasoning. My food was delicious! It is my mothers favorite breakfast restaurant when she comes to visit. She really enjoys the salmon and eggs! The only reason for the four stars is due to the need for more seasoning. I realize some people can't eat salt and many people don't like pepper, however, salt and pepper is what gives your food flavor. read more

What a great little place! Love the selection and our waiter was fantastic at answering all our questions. Went here on a work lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Staff was friendly and courteous. Food smelled great and my meal was delicious. I can't remember what my meal was called but it was an Angus beef burger smothered in grilled onions. Some French fries and a side salad all delicious. My family gave this place a shot with some skepticism as there were 2 unsuccessful breakfast places there prior to this one opening up. We went at 8:30 on a Sunday morning and the place was nearly dead which didn't help our first impressions. However, we were really happy with the food, service, and price. We all went pretty run-of-the-mill with our orders (omelets, eggs, sausage, skillet, pancakes, etc.) Everything was hot, cooked right, and tasty. We just ate here for the first time. Pancakes are delicious. Way big. I had the eggs Benedict t which was really good. Could have used just a touch less lemon but still very good. They serve it with hash browns and diced melon. Even though melon is out of season it was really good and I like that I didn't have to make a choice between fruit and hash browns. My husband and I decided to check out the new menu since this place, once called Biscuits, changed ownership. I have a mixed review about this place. The good: The menu now offers more healthy options including vegetarian choices. The eggs were done right. The bacon and sausage are excellent. You also have the option of whether you want onions cooked into your hashbrowns or american fries which is nice. The bad: 1) The hollandaise sauce is horrible. I have had excellent sauce and even mediocre sauce but this is by far the worst I have ever tasted. It was more like mayonnaise with mustard mixed into it. Unfortunately, most of the items listed in the menu are served with the 'hollandaise' sauce. Thank goodness my dish was served with it on the side so that I had the option of not using it and therefore ruining my meal. Please, revise your hollandaise sauce recipe! 2) What happened to the biscuits? They are spongy. Nothing at all like homemade flaky doughy biscuits. They should not bounce back when you press on them. The biscuits reminded me of the pre-made canned biscuits you would find in the refrigerated section of the store. If I want pre-made/canned food then I will eat at home. If I am going to pay someone else to cook for me then I expect it to be made from scratch. Conclusion: First impressions are everything and this place is off to a rough start. I will however give it another chance. Your best bet is to stick with the bacon and eggs meal with a side of pancakes. read more

Came in on Labor Day for breakfast. The place doesn't look like much on the outside, but the inside tells an entirely different story. We came in and were seated promptly by a young lady who didn't seem to want to be there. We also came in with our one year old daughter and wasn't even offered a high chair, so I had to take it upon myself to locate one and grab it. Once we were seated, I noticed about 7-8 staff loitering around the register, instead of approaching our table and I got to play the awesome guessing game of who is going to be our server. It turns out we won a nice, but clueless older man who is probably related to the owner(s). Looking at the breakfast menu, I noticed there isn't a "sides" section (i.e. bacon, sausage, English Muffin). I explained that I wanted the cinnamon roll French toast with a side of sausage links. Turns out, I had to order some breakfast combo, which included eggs and I don't like eggs. He kindly left the eggs off my order, but I was still charged for the combo. Our waiter barely made trips to our table checking on us and even seemed to forget we were there. I will say that the food was above average and was reasonably priced. Far less expensive than Grandma's Table located down the street, but the service needs an upgrade/major fine tuning. I am sure I will be back at some point, but in the meantime, I will stick with the Riverview Diner for my breakfast/family restaurant needs. read more

Breakfast out is nice from time to time but there is no place in Oswego worth going to. I've eaten at Benny's Place 3 or 4 times over the past 2 years and only because there nothing else close is the only reason I have gone back. The servers are great and and the decor is fine but the food is TERRIBLE. I spoke to a lady behind the counter there the other day decrying the quality of the food and telling her that she should go to Buttermilk or Egg Harbor in Geneva and try to emulate what they offer. Rating one star only because I can't rate zero. I haven't even tasted my meal yet... because it's been about 40 minutes since I ordered and it's still not here!!! We were told "the head cook is out of the country so that's the reason for the delay." WHAT?? Update: We ended up leaving without having our meals because it was still going to be another 10 minutes--even though several groups seated after us already had their meals. We canceled our order and asked for our check. The server came back and I told her we weren't going to pay for meals that weren't even made, so she adjusted the check. When asked by the cashier how we were, we explained this is the only time we've ever been to a restaurant and are walking out without having eaten. Marc asked me if I wanted to talk to the manager, and I responded, "It doesn't even matter since we're never coming back again." The cashier merely shrugged her shoulders and let us walk out angry. Legit breakfast/brunch/lunch in Oswego. Does anyone remember when there was a Dog-N-Suds on Douglas? Well, this stands on the ashes. I am pretty sure several other breakfast spots have died here too. Went for dinner and had one of the specials, a pot roast. The taste was perfect, exactly how a pot roast should taste, a product of it's parts. I am so glad that Benny's has staying power in a location that has had a problem keeping tenants...mainly because I am in love with their Bacon and Egg Quesadilla! I have only ever been here for breakfast but what started with a Groupon has become ritual. As an architect, I love the visual presentation of the food which is almost as good as the taste of said food. The large portions don't hurt either. As a guy with broader than average shoulders the generous spacing of tables and chairs is a much welcomed change from most restaurants. I can enjoy their offerings without feeling like a caged bull. There is so much I still want to try here that I am hoping Benny's is around for years to come. I might even get here for lunch or dinner one day in the near future. read more

I was so excited to try this place. I've been begging my husband to switch from our normal weekend spot to this place. We were very disappointed. They brought out the wrong omlette, brought the correct one with burnt and cold hash browns. Never came back to refill the coffee. They never brought my husband's pancakes and when I let her know she said oh s*$# and turned and walked away. They charge you a certain price for juice and then upcharge it .30 for orange. The gang and I have been coming here for a while and every single time we walk out with full bellies and in great spirits. The waitstaff, the gentleman at the counter, the bus boys, are all great. I've tried this place three or four tomes now with the hope that it will be better next time. The staff is always very nice and the place is clean but the food just isn't that good. I was talked into the "home made" hash this morning and it was very disappointing, nothing more than cubed up deli corned beef mixed in with some shredded potato, meh, and way too salty. Their biscuits are pretty good but the gravy is like wall paper paste with a few pieces of diced up link sausage, weird and tasteless. The eggs are always cooked well to the way they are ordered.
