Tired to eat here once, called ahead to see if they had any vegan options and the woman on the phone said yes. They're extremely busy on weekend mornings so we wanted to be sure there would be something for everyone in our party. After first calling, then driving there and waiting to be seated we found out there were not any vegan options, in fact the server looked at us like we were growing a 2nd head and said they could not accommodate us. We have been to Benny's over a dozen times and the quality of the food is the exact same. In addition, I have tried many different dishes and all of them have been absolutely delicious and has a ton of flavor. We recently visited this place for the first time.. It is a busy place specially on Sundays.. We ordered our meals according to the menu, kid Mickey Mouse pancakes, the menu describes "with cherries" and when we got it, it had none, when I asked about it, they told me the menu is outdated and they don't do cherries. Then I ordered Classic Eggs Benedict witch in the menu comes with country potatoes, but when I got them, it came with hash brown potatoes. Our waiter got upset because we pointed this out and got an attitude against us, after that we never got any refill in our coffee or anything else... The food is not that great and the flavor and costumer Service is really bad...So expect to received a different dish of what you order and don't you dare to complain.. I've eaten lunch there a few times and food was good and service is always good. Today I had breakfast and ordered an omelet with spinach, chicken sausage and feta cheese. The omelet had hardly any spinach, the chicken sausage was cubed very small so couldn't really taste it, but worst thing was the feta cheese that was also cubed small and tasted rubbery. So, the location curse is over!!! I have been to Benny's about 10 times now and I have to say this is the perfect chill Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner place. The food comes in rather large portions and is just done right, nothing fancy or over the top, just decent quality and good tasting. Huge omelets stuffed to the gills come with hash browns or an assortment of other sides. Now, I love Belgium Waffles, but almost every place I know screws them up! Benny's are crunchy on the outside, big and fluffy in the middle, Goldilocks would be proud...just right!!! They also have this great Banana Bread French toast!!!! I feel dumb for never thinking of this before but wow!!! Make sure you get the large size or make it a side with your meal! This is what Awesome tastes like! Lastly, the owner... You guessed it! Benny! He is what makes me love this place, he is a true small business owner that cares about his baby(the restaurant) with a lot of heart. A-OK is just about right. There is potential for a better score.. but service was lackluster and the food was maybe, almost a four. The room was nice.. not cozy but OK and the bathroom clean. (Had the grandson with us and he managed to get "sticky" with syrup more than once) Like the Papanicholas coffee, I would prefer if they used one of their more flavorful blends.. I had the Cinnamon Roll French Toast Combo. No big surprise as I've had this at three different local places. This one was better than Egg Harbor and not as good as Egg'lectic (which I crave) I forgot to order hash browns.. I must be losing my touch. I ate everything and was looking for more.. when Lisa offered me a bite of her potatoes! Lisa had the Bacon and Egg Quesadilla, with a side of Pumpkin Pancakes (sans fruit, ick) It was way too much food for her, so she got a second meal out of the deal. The pumpkin pancakes were pretty good and she really enjoyed the quesadilla. Potatoes were ok, they come with a dollop of sour cream on top... but don't think for a second that makes 'em fancy! A breakfast destination on "Independence Day". This was unfamiliar territory as we parked the bikes on the south building exposure, soon to realize that we needed to hike to the north exposure if we actually wanted to enter the building! (South Doors Locked...Benny's Rule) We chose to sit at the counters north end..."Diner Style", soon to realize that we needed to hike to the southern end if we actually wanted too see into the kitchen. You need to strategically seat yourself if you prefer a glimpse of the action. I'll take that option anytime. Our waitress just smiled as she handed us the Benny's Place Breakfast Encyclopedia. This is not a Menu, but a list of eternal options that never end! Huge. Long story short, Benny's is your typical Breakfast place that will focus on a visual color contrast food presentation of huge portions, and better yet, reasonably priced. Plenty of parking. Wait period for Sunday was not to bad, around 10 munites. The hostess Mia was very polite. She was very fast to answered any questions we had. My daughter ordered a BLT and I ordered an Omelette. Food came fast and was cooked well. The place is very clean and has a comfortable environment. I visited Benny's for brunch yesterday morning around 11 a.m. It was packed and there was a line but we only had to wait about 10 minutes for table. Service was excellent and the food came out so quickly. I think we only waited about 10 to 15 minutes for our food. The dining room is spacious but it's also noisy. My dad is deaf in his right ear and the noise made it difficult for him to hear the conversation at our table. I also wish the menu was it a little easier to navigate for us gluten intolerant folks. I did not want to slow down the kitchen or our server by asking a bunch of questions about the menu and the ingredients. I always appreciate it when a restaurant labels the items that are gluten-free or has a separate gluten-free menu. It makes for a less awkward dining experience. Anyway, I would visit Benny's again. They serve large portions of food at a reasonable price. You can't beat the location, either. It's nice to be able to enjoy a nice brunch in Oswego and not have to drive to Naperville. read more

I have had Benny's bookmarked for a while, not over the top first experience. Build your own skillet has cubed style potatoes. Ham was sliced very thin and watch out for upselling. If I knew the gravy was a buck more on the side biscuit, I probably would have still tried it, but since I didn't enjoy either, I brought it to her attention. They took the charge off my bill. The biscuits are a bit strange, too soft and their gravy isn't to my liking. Server was very attentive and I could see a return visit, if in the area. Real close to a 4 star, but not having awesome biscuits & gravy is always a buzz kill. read more

There are some good places out in the far southwest burbs to hack breakfast. My go-to place is Leno Silva's Riverview Diner in Montgomery (q.v.), Never a duff meal there ever. Not a particularly adventurous menu, but the fare is always the same, and that is always excellent. The site of Benny's was originally a "Southern Belle's", a small chain of "Greek" Breakfast joints in the Chicago 'Burbs. Chicago folks know exactly what that means. When they are firing on all 8 cylinders, it's a good feed. This one was top-notch, but closed abruptly, to our chagrin. A succession of shitholes occupied the space until Benny's Place opened. We tried each one, and none of them rose to Southern's level, even Benny's when they first opened. My 89-year-old Ma lives nearby in a senior establishment, and the folks there were waxing poetic about Bennys, so it made sense to give them a second look. It's an airy room, most pleasant. The Papanicholas Coffee was warm and welcome. The service was fine. I ordered a "Mexi scrambler", which was tasty. Not as good as the South-Of-The-Border fare at the Riverview, but not bad at all. Ma had Eggiwegs, Bacon and Pancakes which she reported as "tasting good". There's isn't reason I wouldn't go back to Benny's, other than I've become a regular at the Riverview. I don't even have to speak, and my beverage order and extra napkins appear with alacrity. If I ask for a Chorizo Omelette, they know to put whole fresh Jalapeños and Extra onions in it. Even the most loyal patron of a restaurant wants a change of pace every once in a while, and one could do worse than Benny's... read more

After a recently bad breakfast experience nearby, Benny's was a breath of fresh air! The menu was huge, the service was great, and the food was DELICIOUS! We went on a Sunday around noon and did not have to wait for a table. Our server was polite and prompt and we all got coffees & Bloody Mary's. The Bloody Mary's were delicious and we all ordered a mix of breakfast and lunch meals. They even had Nutella crepes on their menu! I stopped by Benny's on a weekday morning with my mom. I'd never visited before so I was excited to check it out. The restaurant had a nice crowd for a Tuesday morning so I thought the food would be pretty good. We were greeted upon entry and seated immediately. The restaurant was clean, warm and inviting. Our server was a young man named Juan or Jesus (don't recall). He was pleasant and attentive. I ordered the french toast with eggs, turkey bacon and turkey sausage. My mom also had the french toast but hers was made with raisin bread instead of texas toast. She also ordered pork sausage and bacon. We both found our food satisfactory. It wasn't horrible but there also wasn't anything to rave over. I thought my french toast was the best part of the meal. The eggs were just okay and I didn't really care for the turkey products they served. My guess it was a generic brand. My mom wasn't all that enthusiastic about her food either. We left thinking we should have picked a different breakfast spot. Even still I'd readily give Benny's another shot. The menu looked pretty expansive with many enticing selections. Came here on a Sunday with my family, a party of 10. We waited 30 minutes to be seated which was fine. When we were seated, the end table was only fit for 2 people but they had us squeeze 3 in that spot. I asked for another table because it was just too small a spot for 3 people to share. I was told there were no other available tables. It was super busy and I understood. Within 20 minutes 5-4 person tables opened up and were not in use. There was no one waiting to be seated so I asked the manager (I assume, the guy who was taking phone calls and seating people) if we might have one of 4 person tables now that there were open and we had not received our food yet. He didn't want to do it. He gave me excuses that he had two parties of 20 coming in and he couldn't give up any tables. We were a party of 10, we waited 30 minutes, we were uncomfortably squished into a space too small and the manager was unprofessional and resistant to accommodating us. I insisted that it's too uncomfortable to eat at a table to small and too short for 3 people to eat at when it's meant for 2 and there were 5, 4 person tables available. At my insistence he gave us a 4 person table. It was very insulting to be told he really couldn't give us appropriate seating because he had two bigger parties waiting and to have to convince him we were deserving of a table that would appropriately accommodate us. He made me feel that our business and money wasn't good enough. We spent $200 and next time we will take our business and money elsewhere. read more

What an excellent experience at a locally owned business. Businesses are struggling due to the Covid pandemic and ANYTHING we can do to help them needs to be done. NOW....on to the food. I had lunch here yesterday and today with enough leftovers for dinner. The food was amazing at a very reasonable price. Yesterday, I got the full-sized turkey avocado club with a side of the homemade beef, barley soup. The sandwich was on some type of artesian bread that was perfectly toasted. I wanted to devour the whole thing it was so good, but I also got the half chicken Waldorf salad sandwich with a cup of beef barley soup. Further investigation was warranted so half of my turkey sandwich went to the"leftovers" designation. Let's face it. A GOOD chicken salad sandwich is hard to find at a restaurant. There are pieces of mutant chicken, you find grape seeds, etc but this chicken salad was EXCEPTIONAL. I knew this morning what I was going to have for lunch, lol! So you're thinking, "She hasn't mentioned the soup..." Primo, just absolutely delicious, homemade and when you have a cold, as I do now, it warmed me up deep inside my chest to my fingertips. Today, I got the quart-sized beef barley soup with the full-size chicken salad sandwich with left-overs for tonight. The gentleman on the phone also serves the counter. He was very friendly and double-checked the order twice over the phone, twice at the counter, and made sure we had plenty of extra crackers, etc for our meal. The service is friendly and welcoming and this place definitely gives off a brunch warm vibe. I'll start by saying this place is a bang for your buck, the prices are great for the amount of food they give you. I had the Avalon Sunset sandwich & I wasn't disappointed at all, but I will say this place has much better breakfast than lunch options. I tried my boyfriends order of cinnamon apple pancakes and i went back for another bite ! Everyone at my table was full and had to take boxes home.
