It turned out my towing need was too large for their equipment, which was my fault not theirs, but they provided good advice and suggestions for alternative facilities that handle very large tow jobs. Have dealt with Brian Benson for decades from when he owned Bennys Sunoco. As the owner he drove a hard bargain, was a man of few words, gruff but professional and imo a master mechanic my dad says he's the best he's ever known. As I drove for a living was my go-to for all repairs, inspections etc and frequent towing plus yanking me out of snow and always came quickly all hours of day and night and did a great job. When he and wife Kim ran the show was a great place she was a stabilizing influence but have seen little by little it's taken a slow-mo nosedive. The new owner or manager Mark? Is very dishonest. Took vehicle in to have brakes done less than ten years or so ago was charged over $300. Had battery changed was charged more than price quoted never gave me the core credit. Needed oil changed and brought own filter bc I only use Fram. He said it didn't fit so I said I would go home and get another one only live a couple of mi away. After the other repairs said it fit afterall. But charged full filter price for oil change. Was quietly furious but still friendly couldn't wait to get outta there paid bill and left vowing never to return. A sad ending to a once pretty good all-around shop *facepalm* read more

My daughter got her car stuck in snow while visiting the area. I am in Colorado no one else would help. Picture this. Driving for 5 hours has​n't eaten all day gets to their Airbnb after walking a mile up the road with luggage in the snow bc the car is stuck in the snow. It's now 9 PM in a small town so no door dash can't drive. I called Benny for a tow on the recommendation of another tow company in the area. Not only did he say he would get up there and help her he stopped and brought her food knowing her situation. USAA contacted Benny's for roadside assistance since no other companies in my area were available. I have an injured arm and can't change my own tires. They quoted $150 (or so) for a tire change and gave a 90 min ETA. I called after about 70 min and spoke to someone who said that the driver was out and that they would be there soon. I called again after 90 minutes and spoke to another person who denied all of this happening, and stated that to come where I am, it would cost $300. I reluctantly agreed, and was given a two-hour wait time. We agreed that I would pay by card here after they arrived. Then, minutes later, Benny's called back and stated that they would need a credit card payment first in order to come help. Based on all of this, I couldn't trust them to make the trip even if they charged my card. I called USAA again to confirm that they had arranged the first agreement with Benny's, which they did. Poor customer service. Call over there I get told I have to hurry it up and get there or they can't get me until later because that's when they get busy. A little attitude there . When I arrive they're not busy it's standing around talking. The older gentleman start looking at my car then tells me that there something wrong with it not saying that there can't be but when I simply tried to explain to him I took it to another shop and I repaired what they told me I only had to be done it just shock when I arrive there not busy standing around talking. My son was driving through Chester with my car and got a flat due to road construction. I called AAA and they said a tow truck would be there in 40 minutes. After an hour...no truck....after 2 hours ..no truck. (Mind you, this was 3 am). I called AAA twice and they said they couldn't reach anyone from Benny's. I finally drove out there (30 minute drive) and got my son. We left the keys for the eventual arrival of the tow truck......its now nearly 11am and the car is still not in the driveway. It's time for AAA to end their contract and get a new one with a more professional business. Pray you dont break down in this area!!! read more

Terrible!!! I was on my way from CT to visit my sister in Chester VT for a couple of days when my Chevy Blazer broke down on route 91 north on a Sunday night. Thank goodness I was only about 20 miles from her house so she came to rescue me and I called AAA to come rescue my car from the side of the highway. My sister suggested having my car towed to Benny's because it is just a couple miles from her house and she believes them to be nice local folks. I called Benny's about 8:00 Monday morning to touch base about the new arrival in their lot. The person who answered the phone told me they hadn't see any Blazer in their lot but would check again and call me back. When he called back he confirmed that yes my car was there and there would be a $55 storage fee from the previous night. WHAT? They didn't even know the car was there and yet I was paying a storage fee? Well I accepted the storage fee, explained to them what my car had been doing before getting stranded on the highway and asked if they could take a look at it that day as I was only up in VT for a couple of days. I was told they would look at it when they could. I didn't hear back from them that morning, so my brother-in-law stopped in late morning to see how things were progressing. When he stopped in there were two empty garage bays and a couple guys hanging around. They had not yet looked at my car. With time running out and knowing I had to be back in CT by Tuesday, we scrambled to find another local garage to look at my car. Luckily I found one but Benny's would not release my car to AAA to tow to the next garage until the storage fee was paid of course. I paid the fee, called AAA back and the car was released and we were able to get it to the next place. Even though the car arrived late in the day to them they made a commitment to look at it right away knowing my time was limited. I'm not sure if Benny's took advantage of me because of my out of state plates, I don't know if they just really had no interest in doing the work, or if they were really just too busy to fit in an unplanned repair that day. But as professionals I would hope they would have let me know the morning I called that they were unable to help me out. If they had, I would have been able to make other arrangements much earlier in the day. I know that my sister and her husband will certainly never use Benny's again and would not recommend it to anyone else. It's really too bad. My experience with them came close to ruining my VT getaway with my sister. Stay away from Benny's!!!! read more

I called AAA after I had a blowout of a tire on the freeway, and they told me it'd be about an hour before they arrived. Ten minutes later, a tow truck pulls up (these guys), and the guy in the truck tells me he doesn't like to keep people waiting. I have used Benny's on and off for over 20 years and have watched them lose all their good talent. The owner, who is seldom there, was a good mechanic. Mostly I only used them for simple repairs, state inspections, fix a flat and the like. But I'm done. The staff is unfriendly, vulgar and unprofessional. They all seem to be pissed off at something/everything. I'm no prude and I'm fine with the occasional F-bomb but every other word is a little much. If you like hearing the "F" word, they are sure to please. I've decided I'm not going to give them any more of my money. There are nicer garages with friendlier staff and better mechanics close by that appreciate your business that I will be using from now on. read more
