Very excited to eat there, always smells so good. Picked up orders from there alot. That smell of the burger cooking with charcoal. Got a burger with mayo must Tom lettuce and onion top with cheese! The burger was cold, the cheese was cold, like a ball of cheese. 1 large piece of lettuce soaking wet layed on top, 2 tomatoes with brown seeds. I went here the other night bc I was passing by it. The thing I really like about this place is their consistency!!! What I like tastes the same way EVERYTIME!!! My take on Ben's is Buds with a heavier cheese hand. That's a good thing. Almost as if I was using "The Force" and willing the cooks to shake shake shake that cheese hand till its all gone. My no. 5 was nicely topped with that grated heaven. My no. 6 chili cheese onion hot dog was drowning in all the toppings. The feel and ambiance is appropriate. Some music or a TV being on would be cool but I am good with it like it is. The food comes out pretty fast too. The self serve fountain drinks made me feel trusted. Saw this 24 hour place on tv and decided to check it out.. They have a Big Ben Burger which I was tempted to try, but looked like too much for me (what??? Did I just say that??). The burger is a regular old frozen patty on a regular old bun. The cheese is shredded something yellow. It's just ok. The fries I liked a lot. Those skinny shoestring type. SUMMARY: on a first visit, Ben's gets a solid 4/5 that I expect to go up with future visits. My wife, toddler, and I all found things we love and can't wait to come back. FOOD: I had a #11 Grilled Chicken Sandwich fully dressed and enjoyed it. It wasn't anything spectacular, but the execution was every bit as good as Chik-Fil-A, and I didn't have to wait 30 minutes to place my order. The only thing I would do differently is add extra pickles. My wife ordered the BIG BEN and liked it. I tried it and found it too busy. All the parts were good, but I found the chili and fries with fry sauce on a double cheese burger a bit much. Having said that, I enjoyed each of the flavors in their own right and the patty was well-cooked and generously sized. I am looking forward to returning to try a regular burger. We got a Kids' Meal for our son and he enjoyed it. It's 4 nuggets, a GENEROUS serving of fries and a drink. As you can see in the pictures, the nuggets are cooked to perfection: crispy outside and moist inside. Fries were well done and stayed crispy outside even as they cooled. Onion rings were excellent. Now I have two places in the NOLA are where I can go for good onion rings. Basic Coke fountain drinks are available; the fountain and self-serve was clean and tidy. Barq's is available at the fountain AND in glass bottles. Bud, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, Miller Lite, and Corona Light are also available. AMBIANCE: classic NOLA. Awesome Saints and food murals. Small, picnic-style wood tables perfect for 4 dining intimately or 2 with plenty of elbow room. Flat screen that I'm certain will have Saints games in season. CLEAN. That really stood out as we ate over an hour and staff bussed and cleaned, keeping the entire space clean and tidy. CLIENTELE: we dined in on a Saturday early afternoon and we saw people dressed in business formal, an auto mechanic, other families with young children, older couples, and retirees sporting LSU and hunting/fishing attire. It was a nice slice of Metairie. STAFF: obviously the cooks did a good job, but everybody was friendly, kind, and patient (I didn't communicate clearly, the order got messed up, and they made it right even though it was my fault). So....why fix something thats not broken?! This spot used to be Buds Broiler. I read that the owner wanted to change things up so he brokw free from the franchise and renamed the place. I was a bit skeptical at first but i gave it a shot. The weird thing abt it is that the place pretty much looks like buds broiler. The murals inside have been redone but almost everything else is still the same...including the menu. My usual order was fine. Didnt taste like buds which was what i was hoping for. "The Big Ben" is dangerously delicious. Three of us went and dined at the restaurant. This is a great "Burger Dive" type of restaurant. People were courteous and happy to help. Daughter had a vanilla shake which she said was very good. Wife had a burger and was very happy. French fries themselves are nothing out of the ordinary, but they are cooked well and delicious. The "fry sauce" is an in-house recipe. I don't know what's in it, but it's a little like mayo and bar-be-que sauce. I could be wrong on that. It's great for dipping fries. I'm not sure what happened to my previous review on here about Ben's Burgers (my pictures are still on here) as Yelp sometimes seems to randomly delete reviews for some reason? Well anyhow this was one of the first of the Bud's Broilers to disappear but they did it in the unique way of just renaming themselves and keeping most everything else exactly the same with slight tweaks while many of the rest of the Bud's have just closed and disappeared. They have maintained there dive style inside so that is also a bit of a bonus push for them as well. Bud's... I mean Ben's food is about a 2 star on average to me BUT they are one of the very few spots open 24/7 in the area so that does bump them up an additional star as that is a very valuable thing to have in this area. read more

So the sign says same owner but the name is different and so is the quality. Whoever Ben is, decided to slap his name on the building and put as little money and consideration as possible. As other reviewers noted, the word Ben has been painted over the word Bud on the walls. No big deal if that was the only change. He decided it would be a good idea to still advertise apple pies but now serve a microscopic low quality frozen sysco like product instead. They also advertise bacon for an additional $1.10 for your burger, only to find a heaping pile of bacon bits. How insulting to the consumer. The kitchen area looks as scary as ever but the video poker machines are still going strong. I grew up in the area and was in town visiting my sister. I told her I was going to buds broiler to get lunch and she told me to go to BEN'S Burger instead. That I would not be disappointed, She was right. The chili cheese dog on the open flame was just like I remembered. The burgers were awesome and the whole atmosphere here was great. I was pretty skeptical when Bud's switched to Ben's, but I have to say I was (and continue to be) impressed. The menu is essentially what you would expect at Bud's with a few additions (namely the Big Ben burger) and some slight alterations (namely the sliced hot dog on burger bun - now just a regular hot dog on hot-dog bun - which I DEEPLY miss). The most important factor, for me, is the Bud's hickory sauce recipe which has carried over quite nicely. Super cheap and quick, Ben's is a great option when in a hurry or in dire need of late-night nourishment. I went to Ben's Burgers after hearing & seeing rumors about a MONSTER of a burger known as none other than "The Big Ben". As I walked through the front door, and up to the counter I was greeted by friendly staff and the overwhelming feeling of Home. I could almost smell the Superdome. The ordering process was extremely easy.... ice cold beers for $2.50.... and they'll make it how you want it. As I sat down, I took a couple sips of my Abita Amber and just took in the environment. To my right watching over me, The Cyborg Saint. Lost in the intricate murals on the wall, I barely heard my order called. I walked up to the counter, looked down, and there it was... Sooooo... I love burgers, they are a personal favorite food. So I checked out BEN'S Burgers. What can I say about BEN'S burgers? Their chili cheese fries were really good! The burger definitely was generic and bland. The cheese they use reminds me of the terrible shedded cheese from middle school cafeterias. They got my order wrong at first, as the guy who took my order had a hard time understanding me. (I mean no offense to him, he was super nice) there was just a communication break down. They fixed the order however as they were making it, so no big issue there, however, the cheese was put on my burger (which wasn't hot) so it never melted. When he made my chili cheese fries, he put the cheese on the fresh hot fries (because he didn't know I ordered chili), then put it in the MICROWAVE! Which ruined the fries! Then when I told him it was supposed to be chili cheese, he added the chili. Which is fine. They made the burger, it was basic, nothing to write home about. Finally stopped by to grab a burger since this is one of the only places that stays open late since the hurricane, so my son and I went on for a burger hunt after his highschool football game. Ordered a regular burger with cheese and large fries. Burger was good, nicely seasoned patty and dressed nicely to your liking. Fries were undercooked and oily which you could just take a fry and squeeze to see the grease come out. Not to mention a large order looked like a small order. In comparison to the burger, the fries provided would be enough to be added like a big ben burger and none left to be eaten on the side. Very disappointing to pay $4 for a little baggy of fries. My son got a regular bbq burger which he said was ok. He also did not eat the fries because of it being undercooked and oily.
