I ordered two to go plates one was the thin fried catfish and the other one was a shrimp plate both with gumbo and garlic fries. It came out after 15 minutes hot and ready and they put the butter garlic sauce in a container so does fries wouldn't be soggy it was a good portion and it was all for under $12. If anything it's always consistent and the gumbo is pretty good too it had sausage and shrimp in it. One of the most inconsistent places I eat from in the local area. Admittedly, I typically only eat from here a few times a year and almost always get takeout. I tried the shrimp tacos tonight. I think for the name, I was expecting a larger shrimp and, perhaps, a Gulf shrimp. I don't know--these shrimp didn't give me Gulf "vibes." The shrimp were also extremely salty. I like this place so much but the restaurant was half full and the line was out the door and I spoke to the manager about opening up the other register and he blamed it on the general manager that they were not able to. The food is good so I had to leave at least a two star. If they develop a more customer service oriented staff it would be a great place to take your family. All around the Nola area you can find New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood Co. locations, and with good reason. This low frills fast dining establishment is capable of putting a very solid product in front of you fairly quickly at a good cost. Did I mention there's free ice cream?! The menu all looked so appealing but Chas had been here before so he made a few suggestions. We started off with some mozzarella sticks, I ordered the One-Handed BBQ Shrimp Po-Boy, and Chas and Val split a Breaded Shrimp Platter. These mozzarella sticks are huge and delicious. Super fresh from the fryer and clearly hand breaded on premises. Nice Structure to them on the exterior while the cheese inside was gooey and fabulous. Chas and Val's sampler had Fried Shrimp, Hush Puppies, Cole Slaw, and the standard fries that are served here which come covered in a garlic herb sauce. The shrimp you could also tell was freshly breaded on site and was seasoned differently than the mozzarella sticks. They were delicious. The hush puppies had a nice flavor to them as did the slaw. These fries are really great. Very heavy garlic flavor and just so enjoyable. I got the One-Handed Shrimp Po-boy by Chas' suggestion, and it did not disappoint. I also had a side of those delicious fries, but this sandwich was unlike others I have had in the area. Firstly, it is BBQ shrimp in a po-boy which is not typical at all. Secondly, it was a chunk of French bread loaf that was hollowed out and stuffed with the BBQ shrimp as opposed to it being sliced and served like a hoagie. This sandwich was very good. Crusty, flaky bread stuffed with this New Orleans staple dish (which has nothing to do with BBQ by the way) was a homerun. We collected our free ice cream and hit the road after that! We used to stop for lunch after church on Sundays, and Dad loved building a burger to his liking. Our family dined on Friday night, and it was great to be back. I ordered the Thinly Fried Catfish and Shrimp Remoulade that was advertised as the current special. You can order it with either regular or spicy batter, and I ordered the spicy. I was very impressed with the prep. The fish was thin, and the batter was thinner. It was light and flavorful. The fish was fried to crispy perfection, and was not greasy at all. I enjoyed it, but I have decided that I prefer normal filet pieces over the thin slices. The shrimp remoulade was just okay. The shrimp was bland, and the remoulade dressing was rather thin. It lacked that horseradishy "bite" that I was hoping for. Still an enjoyable dish and a good value at $9.99. Overall, a solid choice for a casual dining experience. The food is fresh and affordable. Today we tried them again. Specifically, we tried their "Gumbo Specials". The gumbo was o so bland and full of shrimp that were so mushy we couldn't tell them from the rice. Not a keeper in New Orleans. The thin fried catfish that was a calling card for this local chain was actually fishy tasting. That is hard to do... make tiny slivers of fish taste fishy. This was my first time eating here. I've been seeing it for years but just thought it was a Tourist spot. I had the thick cut Catfish Po-Boy with Garlic Herb fries. The Po-Boy was good. Very meaty and honestly I don't think it was designed to be finished in one sitting lol. I would order it again, but might try the the cut. Now for more in the fries. This was my 2nd time here. First time, I had a burger which was very good. This time, I had the eggplant parmesan, a calamari appetizer, fried eggplant sticks appetizer and crab cake/eggplant stack. So, overall, we weren't really impressed with any of the food this time. The calamari was too heavily breaded and had a vinegar taste to it. The marinara sauce look/tasted like it came out of a jar.
