It wasn't very strong in garlic flavor but it was oddly creamy and not what I was expecting at all. The other sauces also lacked spice when ordered spicy. My husband said the bens cajun sauce was boring. The sausage was horrendous, had to spit it out. It was chewy like Jim slim beef jerky and tasted horrible. As for the service, our waitress was a bit annoying in the beginning she showed up at our table every 20 seconds to take our order even though we asked for a few minutes and it wasn't busy. She did this for drinks and entrees. When we asked her for shell crackers and picks, she brought us one even though all five of us had crab. Also at the end of dinner I notified her about the sausage, it was clear we didn't eat any of it. Instead of apologizing or just acknowledging she told us that's the way their sausage is and no one really complains about it. Each item alone might seem insignificant but overall she provided poor service. The other waiters however were great, there were a few that would come by to help and they were always friendly and prompt. At the end of dinner one of the waiters did a magic trick for my niece which was very cute. Ambiance is fun, they have a DJ and played good music. There was no spice, the food is drowned in bottled garlic and margarine. The clams were large and overcooked, and the sausage was hard and not appealing. I inquired about the soft shell crab because that's what I really wanted but our server informed us they were frozen so I passed and opted for the oysters instead. Unfortunately, the surprisingly large portion was fluffed up with fries. We ordered the shrimp and crawfish boil which was fairly priced and was really flavorful. The garlic butter sauce is one of the best I have had. "We" opted for spicy but it was a little too spicy for my taste. I felt it had so much flavor that the spice ruined it. The shrimp were large and deveined but the crawfish weren't which made it somewhat nasty to me. I don't know if other places devein crawfish since I can't remember the last time I had crawfish. Review number 2. How does this place out do itself? Tuesday evening, he said let's grab a drink at Ben's. We arrived around 6:30pm and the background music was good. We ordered our appetizers and drinks which, once again, came out really quickly. He always orders the Frenchman and I go for the St. Mojito. We love the calamari and the red sauce it comes with and we also ordered the catfish basket which comes with fries. The fries were seasoned which was a new twist for us. They were slightly spicy but good. We like ketchup soaked fries but ketchup was not necessary with the seasoning. The catfish was breaded and soft, flaky and juicy on the inside OH MYYYYYY! I wasn't watching the clock but I believe around 7:30pm the music got really loud and really good. Who knew Tuesdays at Ben's was LIT? I didn't know and neither did he. People were dancing in their seats as we were too. What an awesome night! The dj was hyping everyone up and vibe was off the charts. We didn't want to leave so we ordered the fried shrimp basket with unseasoned fries and another round of drinks. I checked the instructions online (order now-pick up at 2 when they open.) So I ordered a cake to be picked up at 1pm in Lynbrook and ordered from my car to make the 2pm pick up. They didn't have a combo with lobster, crab and shrimp but they did have King Crab. When I arrived I immediately knew that this needs to be like my go to spot. Beautifully well kept with a friendly staff. I mean beautiful seaside decor great layout with the luminescent bar right in the middle to get your attention. It sure got mine. I ordered a drink (to go) on the spot it was the Frenchman something a bit sweet but with that Hennessy aftertaste which I enjoy. It was strong and worth the $10 I paid for it. I got home and unpacked my seafood and this time I thought it could have been more but it was by the pound so I eyeballed it and should have just ordered more bc the flavor. The king crab, the combo was def something to talk about. My son as super happy did me I wasn't full but I sure was satisfied. Went out for daughter birthday on a weekday night. We thought that this location would be perfect because it's not a weekend and it's a smaller location...Well WRONG! We order drinks and appetizers with the waiter then comes I guess mgmt to finish our orders. We got our drinks no problem but literally 40 mins later no appetizers just our food which it's only 3 of us only daughter and my food came out. This was the best dining experience! We went for a birthday as a group of 6 people. The food was AMAZING, and came out quickly! Everyone loved what they ordered, from combos to fried lobster tails, gumbo to chicken tenders. I had the lobster mac n cheese and loved every single bite. I also had the combo with crab and shrimp and the special sauce, no spice. I ordered the New England Clam Chowder and the shrimp basket. My honey ordered Gumbo and the Catfish Basket and also some Crab Cakes. When our bowls of Chowder and Gumbo came our jaws dropped to see the heartiness of them and big bowls. The Gumbo has large shrimp, chunks of chicken and sausage so good. My Chowder was filled with big clam pieces, potato, onion so savory. Ooooh oooh oooh so good. Our shrimp and catfish basket were large oh my goodness! The crab cake so good, all crab. The batter on the shrimp and catfish was so light , flaky and crunchy. It reminded me of a tempura batter. So light. Love, loved it. Melt in your mouth. You're getting the fish and not the breading! The music complemented our dining experience. Our waiter Alex was on point. Food arrived quickly. Christina a very nice hostess showed us a rental space in the basement of the restaurant that's also their club on weekends. Nice space for private parties. We went here Labor day weekend on the Sat and it was cool. They had outdoor seating as well as indoor. We sat inside and everyone was spaced out. I didn't feel weird eating inside. So I had the lonster roll it was just ok to me honestly, it was $20. It had a good amount of lobster but it didn't have any special sauce on it and the bun wasn't spectacular. I also ordered the corn. I thought it was one corn but it was a small bowl of 4-5 pieces. The corn was decent, they had butter and garlice drizzled on it which was ok. My friend had the calamari and she said it was fried pretty good. She also ordered the crab special and sauce and said it was ok not the best. We also had garlic brrad which was ok. Came here for Happy hour on a Thursday evening with a friend. The ambiance was slightly different then what I had imagined. I ordered one happy hour drink which was fairly decent. Nice southern style Louisiana cajun, had the favorite always the King Crab legs so succulents and juicy sweet with savory garlic butter and medium spicy cajun style. We started with small shrimp pasta which is so good and Crispy calamari. Finished with chocolate lava cake served with vanilla ice cream great service and they have a nice clean decor that seems like represent of the ocean and also they have a big space downstairs that easily accommodate party of 50 plus and your own private bar.
