Half Chicken, Garlic Potato Wedges, Portuguese Street Corn: Take-out. $19.21 with tax and carry out surcharge.
    Harris L.

BLUF: Salty, service could find a better tone. We ordered a half chicken with two sides to go, for $19.21 post-tax. Food: OK. 2.5 out of 5 stars. The chicken was OK. The chicken skin was crisp but way over salted. The chicken meat had a range of textures. The wings were hard and dry; the white meat was mostly dry; while some dark meat was moist. The two sides could have been better. The garlic potato wedges and street corn were both dry, as if both sides were kept under a heat lamp for too long. Although "chimichurri" is in the name of the restaurant, we didn't receive any chimichurri sauce with our meal. Service: The restaurant should consider a switch to using order numbers instead of customer names. The use of customer names on order tickets provides a friendly impression only when staff are able to reasonably spell and pronounce those names. There is a 4% post-tax take-out fee. I'm not sure if there is a dine-in fee. It appeared that dine-in customers were eating from the same style of take-out containers. While service charges might help restaurants buffer against disruptive change in the economy, tack-on service charges make pricing less straightforward, and might be better received if they were disclosed upfront.

The well-seasoned traditional charcoal wings do not need any sauce. The creamy Buffalo is my favorite among the three sauces that I selected. I was charged 50 cents each for the chimichurri and cilantro-lime sauces. The first one was free. The side order of garlic string beans was a tad too oily but had the right amount of garlic. There are 23 other sides to choose from, including Israeli salad, sweet plantains and creamed spinach. The place is so clean that it is pitiful. The floor was spotless despite the restaurant being in a well-trafficked strip mall on Old Country Rd in Carle Place. Thanks to GrubAdventuresD for promoting this place. You, too, Bill S., inspired me to come to this Portuguese chicken gem. The food was so good here that I licked my fingers off. The next time I am shopping at the nearby Roosevelt Field Mall, I will be sure to stop in to buy food at Chimichurri Charcoal Chicken.

    Welcome to Chimichurri

How is it that I go to these 5 star shops only after hearing about this for a month. I should be waiting at the front door for opening day. This little gem in Carle Place is just another one of these places. My friends told me abut this new Glatt Kosher BBQ restaurant just minutes from my house. The location in the Country Glen Shopping Center on Old Country Road is the perfect place. It'a easy to get in and out and there is plenty of parking. It can get busy from time to time with the great stores in the center. There corner location is perfect. It is a Portuguese style restaurant, but remember that it is a Glatt Kosher restaurant. Only the best ingredients while following Kosher laws. This will also dictate the types of items sold here. They have the BBQ and Southern Fried chicken. On my visit here, my wife and I had the BBQ. This was great-tasty-finger-licking good. Great sides and plenty of them. The well cooked chicken was tender and juicy, just perfect. They also have great sauces from which to choose from. Plenty of sides to choose from too, rice, mushrooms, potato salad, orzo and then some. (see picts.) KUDOs to David the owner and Rich the General Manager. These guys are just such gentlemen. I am confident that Chimichurri will flourish and grow.

Chimichurri sauce it's you I've been looking for! My first time tasting this fresh, garlicky herbaceous green elixir and I'm already jonesing for more. It was a cold rainy holiday weekend and we needed tasty sustenance before hunkering down for a glassy-eyed marathon TV day. Came upon Chimichurri Charcoal Chicken on Yelp and placed an order on their website for pickup. I wanted to try a range of items so I'd have plenty of leftovers. I got: Half Charcoal Grilled Chicken w/Orzo and Ratatouille Half Fried Chicken w/Corn and Fries 8 Fried Chicken Wings Quart of Portuguese Chicken Soup Portuguese Salad w/Grilled Chicken Pineapple w/Cinnamon Dessert My food was ready on time for pickup (about 30 minutes from order placement) and nicely packaged for easy toting. Portions were generous (except for the puzzlingly miniscule chicken wings) and everything was delicious and flavorful. I loathe the mushy fatty chicken I've sourced elsewhere, but Chimichurri's grilled birds were moist yet charred just the way I like it. Fried chicken was lightly breaded, crunchy and yum. Highly recommend the ratatouille side, a tasty veggie stew made with peppers and zucchini. Portuguese salad was huge and packed with grilled chicken pieces and beets, a steal at $13.00. Soup had unique flavorful spicing with lots of peppery shredded chicken. Absolutely adored the pineapple dessert, two large golden bromeliad discs bathed in sweet/tangy cinnamon sauce. Not overly sweet and oh so good. As other Yelpers have noted, make sure you click the box for your choice of one free sauce included with each item, or ask for it if ordering in person - or you may not get it. Reasonable pricing, very tasty food, easy ordering, kosher for those who keep it, what's not to like? I'll be back soon.

I have to give some love to Chimichurri Charcoal Chicken. I came here twice and both times I left with my knees shaking. Some restaurants heat their ovens with wood. C.C.C. uses the same charcoal my uncle Sal used in his BBQ. Except everyone working there has their eyebrows. I didn't hear anyone yell STAND BACK after throwing a lighted match to start the charcoal fire. The charcoal bags are in the dining room and you can smell they're cooking up something wonderful. There are two chicken cooking styles: Southern Fried and Cooked over Charcoal. Once you choose your style, now your rolling. The most popular style is 1/2 chicken with two sides. My side choices were grilled vegetables and plantains. What was presented to me was a labor of chicken love. The chicken was juicy and had the correct amount of spices. The cooking process is a Portuguese style of Charcoal cooking. And the chicken is Kosher?! Any food that's blessed before it hits my belly is welcomed. The next day I ordered a bowl topped with southern fried chicken. Wow! Crispy, crunchy and juicy chicken, just incredible tastes throughout. My only suggestion? Desserts. Yes, they have bags of homemade potato chip bags. How about a slice of Portuguese pie? Get creative! Overall, Chimichurri Charcoal Chicken is a solid spot. Great tasting chicken with fresh sides. No need to start charcoal grill, Chimichurri Charcoal Chicken has arrived. Keep your eyebrows.

We passed by this place a few times and when the coast was clear one day, we made the left turn from Old Country Road to enter the parking lot and try this place once and for all! The aroma is mouthwatering as we made our way to check out the hot sides. We scanned the QR code for updated menu and picked the combo with dark meats and two sides. It was not a long wait after paying to get our food. It comes with a free sauce. The chicken was delicious! My one small gripe was that the coleslaw did not taste fresh. It was at the verge of saying goodbye so we did not touch that at all. Thank goodness I ordered and extra side of orzo with mushroom which was a great choice. Overall, yes, we may come back again!

We were on the lookout for a quick easy and healthy dinner and was planning on going to get tapas but it was closed. We passed by this while driving and we came back to try it out! The location is somewhat hidden as its all the way in the corner of the strip, its conveniently located next to the big stop and shop and Barnes N Nobles. We ordered a full charcoal chicken with roasted corn and orzo with mushrooms. They have a huge selection of sauces but we stuck with the chimichurri and garlic. The chicken was very tender and with the added sauce it was delicious. I believe the food is Kosher friendly. The vibes were similar to chipotle - walk in and can order to take out or eat there. I'd definitely come back to get my chicken fix/healthy food feeling fix!

Chimichurri and medium spicy sauce. Make sure to ask for the chimichurri sauce. It's the best one.

**FANTASTIC GRILLED WINGS** **VARIETY OF TASTY SIDES AND SAUCES** OVERVIEW: So we're hanging at a friend's backyard BBQ the other day, and as usual, the guys start talking about the modern, high-tech gas grills we all have in our backyards. And how big or expensive or cool looking their's is and - you know - all that typical verbal horse crap. But then, the conversation switched to us reminiscing about the charcoal grills our parents used, and how anything cooked on those grills tasted so much better than the gas grills we all use today. I then explained, however, that on a few occasions, I had chicken that was cooked on a charcoal grill, but instead of standard charcoal, a special wood was used, and how this was the secret to obtaining the best flavor of all. But here at Chimichurri Charcoal Chicken, the owner was well aware of this secret, and when designing the restaurant, he had grills installed that allowed for the use of wood charcoal for the Portuguese style grilling. In addition, he decided to offer a number of different sauces to compliment the wonderful chicken. And one of these sauces - as you might guess from the restaurant's name - is chimichurri, a delicious green sauce, usually made with finely chopped parsley, garlic, olive oil, spices, shallots, lemon juice, and some red wine vinegar. And just so you know, the version of this sauce here, at Chimichurri, is absolutely fantastic. And without a doubt, you will definitely be missing out, if you don't squirt some of that delicious green goodness, on any of the many, different chicken offerings served at this joint. WHAT TO ORDER: - Hands down, the best item here is the grilled wings. The delicious charcoal grilled flavor really stands out on these smaller pieces of chicken. And when I say smaller pieces, I'm not kidding. For some reason, the grilled wings (but not the fried) are particularly small here. And if you would normally order six wings for yourself, I would almost double that amount at this restaurant. Hell, I could suck down at least 15 of them, and then, not even burp afterwards. - The Portuguese rice bowl is fantastic, and comes with either chicken or beef, rice, avacado slices, grilled corn, black beans, red peppers, and then it's covered with that killer chimichurri sauce. - The half or whole chicken is great, but just not as flavorful as the wings. What's more, you can use the tasty sauces to make it even better. -The Portuguese salad is very tasty, and comes with either chicken or beef, tomato, grilled corn, quinoa, avacado slices and lettuce. And then, you can use the chimichurri sauce as a dressing, to turn it into a delicious healthy meal. -All of the 23 sides available here are tasty. But the potato wedges, sweet potato wedges, orzo with mushrooms, plantains, and black beans are particularly good, I feel. - Don't forget to ask for your sauce when you order, as you probably won't be given any if you do not ask. As it is, one free sauce is included with your meal, and each additional is fifty cents. SERVICE/DECOR: This restaurant gets really busy during the lunch and dinner hours, and there are only two cashiers behind the counter to take orders, which can lead to some problems. And let me tell you, on more than one occasion, while looking at the overhead menu, and trying to place my order, I felt very rushed by an inpatient cashier. And then, as mentioned before, you probably will not receive your free sauce if you don't ask for it. And I hate to say this, but it seems that it's too bothersome for the person behind the counter, to inquire about which sauce you would like. Even worse, there have been instances where managers have refused to give take-out containers for left over food. Hell, because of all this nonsense going on here, someone I know calls this restaurant "Chimichurri choke my chicken" heh, heh. Moving on, the restaurant is very nicely decorated and is clean kempt. And conveniently, there are quite a few tables, large and small, available for dining in. PARTING THOUGHTS: Regardless of the service shortcomings, I frequent this restaurant often. And quite frankly, you should also try the delicious chicken, sides and sauces here, if you haven't already. But keep in mind, it's best to determine what you would like to order first, before you get to the cashier, and make sure to ask for the sauces you would like with your meal. And last of all, don't let a little " jackass employee behavior" prevent you from enjoying your tasty meal. I don't.

Horrible new manager - this clown gotta go!

I'm a repeat customer who comes very often but all that changes today. They hired a clown for a manager. This guy introduced himself while I was taking my usual order - he then told the server not to make my order- then he tried selling us another order just to get chicken - I was too hungry to continue playing his games and just had no choice at the moment but to agree to what he offered. After the server makes the order the manager tells me he can't do it and that we need another order with extra sides if we wanted fried chicken instead of grilled. At that point after 15-20 of going back and forth I just said "brother just give me any chicken I don't care even if it's 3 separate orders, IM HUNGRY" He then says "I'm sorry I refuse to serve you in my restaurant" He then orders all the employees not to serve me and not to talk to me. This clown embarrasses me in a restaurant where me and my family go and support for years in both locations- He also refused to share his name If the owner won't take matter into his own hands and make this situation right ill personally share this post in our local and cedarhurst Jewish community as well as my family chats/facebook/whatsapp groups and let everyone know. If you guys don't believe me go and ask the owner to review the recorded cameras so you can see how poorly this clown handled the situation and embarrassed us for no reason. On top of that I mentioned to him a few times that I barely had anything to eat all day, and that I'm a diabetic and still he was showing attitude and kept an ego game. And the reason he got ticked off, was because I asked him for schnitzel And he said "what's schnitzel" ? He said we only have grilled or fried And I responded to him that he is in a kosher restaurant and in the Jewish community we also call it schnitzel instead of fried. That's when he got very rude and said "you're in my Spanish restaurant and all the employees here are Spanish - we don't know what's schnitzel means" and then says "I refuse to serve you - now leave" That's when he orders everyone else not to talk or serve me in front of everyone. Treated us with total disrespect and threatened his employees not to say his name or anything. The guy sitting in the back was scared to share anything because that clown threatened to fire him. I'm so hurt by this situation and by the way this horrible person treated us. My number is 212-470-2486 call me and I'll share everything you need to know.

For my order I went with a trio of tacos - al pastor, coconut shrimp (both of these were listed as signature items) and the crispy fish. The Al Pastor was the best of them, but overall the tacos were on the sweet side probably due to the condiments and additions of onions and corn that were pickled. Glad they have hot sauces on the table to bring need heat. I got a side salad with this - I would say this is bit of afterthought lettuce with 3 pieces of cucumber and tomato each there wasn't much to it. I tried the Carne Asada bowl - again a bit on the sweet side, but they give a good amount of food. They use a cheese blend and I think one of them is a parmesan because it tasted a bit out of place. We ordered a piece of tres leches and it had a maple flavor that was unexpected. It took me a second, but I placed that it reminded me of a discontinued Entenmann's cake that I think was maple walnut iced cake. If you remember that and miss it then get this.
