Went in today and they have no AC, only a swamp cooler. In AZ that is not going to cut it. The pizza is not great but the chef salad is huge. Note, they do not offer military discount.

Pizza was pretty good. The crust seemed a little off - very crunchy on the outer edges and soft in the center of the pizza, and strangely, there was a lot of moisture under the pizza (not grease) that I thought was unusual. I placed my slices on a paper towel to soak it up before eating them. The one thing that I really disliked was how the vegetables were done. I love a good veggie pizza, but it seems like corner cutting when all the veggies are large chunks. I double checked the menu and it does say "diced tomatoes" not tomato wedges or slices. The onions were in strips and the green peppers were in chunks. Also the green peppers were more on the raw side, which is how I expect them in my salad but not on my pizza. Overall the pizza tasted good but wasn't amazing. Their meat lovers pizza is delicious - same issue with the crust but the toppings were excellent.

Tucked away in a commercial space. Man, I didn't realize Ben's Pizza was there. I always did the usual: Ray's, Lucky's, or occasionally Mario's. Depending on which direction I'm headed. So we discovered this place and ordered the combo special, which included fried mushrooms, fried jalapenos, fried zucchini, and fried mozzarella sticks (ALL SO GOOD). Fantastic New York-style pizza. Reminded of Sal's Famous Pizza I had in Babylon, New York. I know good pizza, especially the next day when the cheese is still cheese and not a milky goo like other pizza joints tend to turn into when you reheat the pizza the next day. Also chatted with the owner, Nick, and had a good time chatting; he's a genuine good guy. This is now my go-to PIZZA.

Just saw this place driving by so had to try it out Small place, not a lot of dine in people, most were picking up their orders. Ordered their jumbo one item (pepperoni) pizza and wings(hot) special. Didn't take long probably because we were like the only ones there. The pizza was pretty good! Thin crust, crunchy outer crust, tasty sauce, and flavorful! A little greasy but most good pizzas are. The wings were well done, crispy with good sauce. A little mild but decent. I'll definitely come back even tho it's quite far from my place (20 miles). But I feel that for good food, I'm willing to drive anywhere!

The 14 inch Special with extra sausage. So good!

Good pizza! We have ordered twice now for take out. It tastes Italian. Good sausage and his prices are reasonable.

Both pizzas were interesting. The Lichfield Park pizza has pesto sauce and corn on it, as well as cheese, so you might get a slice of that after your "guests" scarf their first helping. You better grab a slice of the Brooklyn pizza right away, though, because it's a traditional-looking pizza with pepperoni and sausage. You won't get a second shot at a slice. You'll get to finish the rest of the "adult" strawberry & bacon salad, though, with spinach instead of lettuce, walnuts, strawberries, and bacon bits. It doesn't come with ranch or even ranch-colored dressing, so they might not risk trying a pinkish salad dressing as a dip for their pizza crust. It's a very good salad and helped my vacation digestion, since I'm not used to the 110° August heat. Papa Paul's Pizza is less than a mile away from my room at the Wigwam. Going there would even be walkable in the summer heat if the fences around the Wigwam had pedestrian gates. As it is, both driveway gates on that corner of the Wigwam are slotted through the perimeter fence far from the place where Papa Pauls and the resort are just across the street from each other. I'm too delicate for a 0.9-mile walk in that much sun. I enjoyed a glass of wine at the bar to rehydrate, though, while I waited for the pizzas to come out of the oven.

Limited wine list for an Italian restaurant. We started with a caesar salad to split - SO much cheese, it was too much. I understand some people like that, but I wish they would have lightened up the amount and just have people ask for more if they want that. I ordered the chicken & broccoli alfredo. Sauce was clearly made in house, but the pasta itself was generic and did not taste like it was homemade. Good amount of protein though. We also ordered the mango and classic cannolis, and these stole the show. Flaky to perfection! If we come back, we might try the pizzas to see how it compares to the pasta.

Lil Capo Pizzeria 5.0/5 The Closest Thing to New York…read morePizza I've Found in Arizona Growing up in Upstate New York, I admittedly have high standards when it comes to pizza. After moving to Arizona in 2007, I've spent years searching for a slice that genuinely reminds me of home. While there are plenty of decent pizza spots throughout the Valley, very few capture that authentic New York style. Lil Capo Pizzeria absolutely does! Ironically, I first discovered Lil Capo after an Arizona Cardinals game. Like many people, I wasn't interested in paying stadium prices for mediocre food, so I jumped on Yelp looking for something nearby. Lil Capo had outstanding reviews, so we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did because it's now my benchmark for New York-style pizza in Arizona. The first thing that stood out was the crust. This is exactly what a New York slice should be--thin, crispy on the bottom, slightly chewy inside, sturdy enough to fold, and never overloaded with grease. So many places think "New York style" simply means making a large slice. Lil Capo understands it's really about the balance of crust, sauce, cheese, and texture. Every bite reminded me why I miss pizza back east. The sauce has just the right amount of sweetness and acidity, the cheese is perfectly proportioned, and everything tastes fresh without trying to reinvent what already works. Sometimes simplicity executed well is the hardest thing to accomplish. Pizza: 5/5 Service was equally impressive. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and efficient. After selecting our slices, they quickly reheated them to perfection and had them on our table within minutes. It's exactly what you want from a neighborhood pizzeria--fast, relaxed, and genuinely hospitable. Service: 5/5 I also appreciated the atmosphere. Lil Capo isn't trying to be flashy or trendy. Instead, it has that classic neighborhood pizzeria feel where the focus stays exactly where it should--on making outstanding pizza. It's casual, comfortable, family-friendly, and somewhere you could easily become a regular. The pricing is another pleasant surprise. Considering the quality of the pizza and the generous slice sizes, I found everything to be very fairly priced. Overall Finding authentic New York-style pizza in Arizona has been surprisingly difficult over the years, but Lil Capo delivers exactly what I've been searching for. Authentic New York-style crust Excellent sauce-to-cheese ratio Minimal grease Friendly, efficient service Fair prices Comfortable neighborhood atmosphere I've eaten pizza throughout New York my entire life, and Lil Capo remains the closest I've found to the real thing anywhere in Arizona. Whenever I'm on the west side of the Valley--or heading to or from a Cardinals game--I find myself looking for an excuse to stop in. Next time, I'm skipping the slices and ordering an entire pie. If you're a fellow New Yorker living in Arizona and craving a slice that tastes like home, Lil Capo should be at the top of your list.

World-class pizza in AZ!…read more I have traveled the world and had many Pizzas, and this is hands-down one of the best pizza places I've ever experienced. Tucked away in the Westgate Mall, it's a compact, modern little spot that likely gets buzzing during the lunch hour. The service is excellent--you just order at the counter and they bring the pizza out to you. If you're in the area, do not pass this up. We'll absolutely be returning on our next trip to Arizona!
