I will give their dine-in a try to experience their food fresh. I live about 10 minutes away and by the time I brought the food home and ate it was not as fresh. The salads we got were covered in oil and made the lettuce wilt. Their restaurant was quaint and looked busy when I went so I will give it a try in person soon. read more

Restaurant week brought us in for the first time and now it'll be a staple restaurant for us! Food: 5/5 - appetizer we got fried calamari which was solid. Meals we had the tortellini Michelangelo and vodka chicken parm. The portions were huge and the vodka sauce was definitely the best we've had in years. Plus the thin chicken over the rigatoni (we chose the pasta) was truly the perfect meal. We ended with a cappuccino (out of this world) and tartufo (absolutely delicious) Vibe: 5/5 - exposed brick and great decor. We finally tried Bensi of Wayne and loved every bit of it! We started with the Spanish Smoked Paprika Fried Calamari which was from the Specials Menu, featuring the freshest most tender squid I've ever had in NJ and it was breaded and fried to perfection! For our entrees we both got the Vodka Chicken Parm which was also flavored and fried to absolute perfection! We ended our experience with a chocolate Peanut Butter Tartufo which was delicious, decadent and also from the Specials Menu. The service and atmosphere were warm, welcoming and attentive. read more

Gotta try it fantastic. Well we finally got the opportunity to go. Big mistake for a good dining experience. Let's just say my wife and her cousin described it as Overwhelmingly Disappointing. . Service was so slow and they weren't crowed. We ordered clam's oregano. No taste, under seasoned and only 4 clams to an order. I had the stuffed sole. Again under seasoned very bland and not much crab stuffing all filler. Sole was dry and sauce was not good. My wife and our cousin had the Vodka Parmesan Chicken. Both said the vodka sauce had absolutely no taste to it. Tasted like cheese out of the Kraft Mac-n-Cheese box. Terrible. Only reason I gave it 1 star. is there is no zero or negative rating. . Great experience as always. We started with fresh calamari along with a great Bensi Salad. For dinner, we had the Cardinale- an absolutely delicious chicken dish topped with prosciutto, asparagus, roasted peppers and mozzarella in a delicious brown red sauce. The eggplant parm is quite good but always somewhat lacking in cheese, which puts it a notch below some others in the area, but their sauce is one of the better ones in the area. One time I was sent the wrong order, which had a chicken parm in it, which was excellent, and I normally don't eat chicken parm. They have whole grain penne, which I appreciate. I love the mussels. Maybe a bit salty, but the mussels are always fresh and the sauce is very flavorful. Veal princepesa is also quite good but portion is pretty small so that shouldn't be the only thing someone would expect to eat. We came here for a 60th Birthday party on a Sunday afternoon. This place is BYOB and it was pretty empty that day which was nice. We had the thai sweet chili calamari and the seafood salad for appetizers. The calamari was delicious and so tender! Not gummy or chewy at all. For mains, I ordered the skirt steak with broccoli rabe and my husband got the tuna steak with tri color salad. We got our daughter the crab cake platter because she happens to like it. The skirt steak came out sliced already and it wasn't too seasoned but apart from that it was tasty. My husband loved his tuna steak salad. Food was amazing and service was so welcoming. The server was friendly, told us to take our time enjoying our food and meant it, and offered us a suggestion that saved us money and filled us up! I had the linguine with shrimp and broccolini - the sauce was silky and rich, the shrimp were huge, plump, and flavorful. SAVE YOURSELF. Ordered a chicken milanese sandwich as part of a to-go order with my family. I had half that night and saved the rest for lunch today, Friday 11/22. The piece of chicken on this half was literally raw. And I do not mean that in the millennial slang way; I do mean it was *literally* uncooked inside. Pink and gelatinous and with the breading on the outside browned just enough (for no more than 30 seconds I have to assume) to lull you into a false sense of security. How busy could they have been on a Wednesday night to not take the ten minutes to cook this paper-thin chicken cutlet all the way through? Now I am playing a waiting game to see if I get sick with 6 days until Thanksgiving. And worse? This could have been either of my parents and it could have hospitalized them. Things keep getting better and better. Already a wonderful place, their newer offerings - especially the grilled octopus - are delicious. Today is New Year's Eve, and we're eating in. Delivery isn't an issue, because our order has been picked up and brought to us, by Uber Eats. My fried calamari was so tender and the coating perfect. The sautéed broccoli rabe was tender and not overly seasoned, although some large stems were present. My daughter's cavatelli with vodka sauce was great, but it had a bit too much sauce. Never went to Bensi before but we visited their new location on Berdan which is one block from our house. To say the most without being too long, it was excellent. It had been a long time. Always felt the menu and service was wonderful, but just before and during COVID, my feelings changed dramatically. The quality of food food and serving sizes had changed so dramatically. After giving it a few tries, we stopped all together. Today, we were reminded how much we missed it and after reading some current reviews, we decided to give it another try. Thank you! -- the salad we ordered was very full and hearty once again. Tasty and memorable for another visit. The pasta was good... not great, but portion was worthy of recognition. Better than a year ago, but they should still work on flavoring. Always delicious food. The prices have really gone up though. Lunch for two without tip, minimum 50.00. Today we were three women with three entrees, and three coffee, 84.00 without tip. Gave Bensi a try after seeing it often and what a bad choice. Got the kids pasta w meatballs which my son enjoyed, i got the hot antipasto which was HORRIBLE not one tasty thing in the disaster of the plate they delivered. Bensi is a nice, quiet, little Ristorante Italiana in a small strip mall on Berdan Ave. I went kinda late this time around so it was pretty empty. The staff was a bit introverted, but like I said before it was a bit late at night. I ordered my favorite Italian dish, Chicken Francese. You could say I'm a connoisseur when it comes to francese. It's all about the lemon sauce. Bensi's sauce was more of a liquid consistency with a punch of lemon. Not my favorite, but it's almost up there. I personally do not like the artichoke hearts that are sometimes put in this dish and I would have left them out; or just eat around them. The pasta we perfectly al dente, and the chicken was cooked up to par. Very nice place, plenty of parking right in front, good for groups/family and its not too pricy($$). We are staying in Wayne at an extended stay hotel. Tonight we decided to order pizza, wings and pasta from Bensi. The prices were a little higher then normal but I assumed the food must be excellent. We spent $68. (Feeding a family of four) The pizza was SO TINY! The wings had absolutely no meat on them! The only thing that my family enjoyed was the penne with vodka and we got the "large" which once again was TINY! A huge waste of money. Truly disappointed. read more

I'm really impressed with this Bensi. I wasn't a fan of the one I went to years ago, but I wanted to try this out (because of the good reviews and it's so close to our house) and I'm so glad we did! My husband and I shared fried calamari, avocado salad, bacon wrapped shrimp, and the chicken cutlet with eggplant and fresh mozzarella in vodka sauce special. Everything was delicious. The calamari was so tender. It almost melts in your mouth! The bacon wrapped shrimp and avocado salad were specials and very tasty and the entree was great too. Their entrees come with pasta or salad so we got pasta since we tried the other salad. The prices and service are very good and it was easy to make a reservation on a Friday night. It might not be home-cooked Italian style cooking like I usually look for in my Italian restaurants, but this Italian chain is legit! Maybe I should have ordered something simple, like a cheeseburger and fries. Instead, I ordered the Chicken Cutlet with Mozzarella Cheese and Broccoli Rabe, and it was really nasty. I thought maybe it was me so I had someone else try it, and they could not eat it either. I called and spoke with a woman who put me on hold for 10 min. after I gave her all the information needed to look the order up. I was expecting her to offer me a replacement order, or a refund, but instead I was told she would talk to the Owner and someone would call me back. Well it's 9:45 and I received no call back, which actually doesn't surprise me, because she was so quick to end the call with me that she never asked for my phone number. I had to tell her that she would need my number if someone was going to call back, and she laughed. I am not a picky eater and rarely complain when something is a little off. As long as it's edible, I will try to fix the seasoning myself, but this was just so bad, I had to say something, even if it was a waste of my time. Hopefully it will help the next person who thinks about ordering it. read more
