Had some good reviews so us and another couple decided to try Boniello's - Hoping for a good Italian restaurant to frequent - Came during the week around 2PM - Only two other people in the restaurant - Ordered the meal - First - two salads - one without olives- 10 minutes later it came WITH olives Ordered hand battered Calamari (definitely NOT hand battered) Two Veal Parm (one with pasta and one without) And Cheese Ravioli We said that we wanted the Parm, Calamari and Ravioli to come out at the same time - IT DID NOT The Calamaric came out 10 minutes later and was WARM AND NOT HOT. 10 minutes later the Veal Parm came out - The pasta with the veal was warm and not hot and was watery 10 minutes later the Ravioli came out We asked why everything did not come out like we wanted The waiter said he was too busy working on delivery orders The food was good AND obviously the chef cared more about take out orders than the people in the restaurant. First time dinning at Boniello's on Tuesday night. Recommended by friends who live nearby and made reservations for our group of 12. Located in a small strip mall close to I287 in Riverdale, NJ, it was easy to find and plenty of parking. The staff was great, our table was waiting for us when we arrived. It is BYOB, so the wine drinkers came prepared. All the food was very very good. No complaints, the stuffed flounder with rice and mixed vegetables was a generous potion (as were most of the others). I was in the area and decided to try Boniello's on a whim. I am so happy that I did! I have two words for you - Pizza. Cone. The pizza cone is neat. It is basically pizza dough with a sandwich inside. A big sandwich. It was well worth the $11 or so I paid. My pizza cone experience was not recent. And as I relive the meal it makes want to get back over here and have another. I do not live nearby and its a shame (although maybe a blessing for my waistline). Learned of this restaurant last year and wish I'd known about it sooner! Everything from the staff, ambiance, and food are top tier. The servers are always so pleasant and attentive and the food speaks for itself. I've been to the restaurant multiple times, ordered catering for holidays, and each time I've been to the restaurant I've been more than satisfied. The chicken saltimbocca is the best I've ever had and the portion was so big that I got three meals out of it! My go to app is the grilled peach salad with their homemade balsamic. Well as a long time Ringwood resident, the amount of decent food in this area is lacking. Enter DoorDash, which enables super busy people like us to order from well regarded restaurants within a certain distance. We tried Boniello's a few times, not in person admittedly. First time was great. Second and third were terrible. Tonight I feel the need to leave a review. Their sauces are great, so I get the clams. Nice size and well cooked but full of sand both times. Like crunching on sand. It's horrible. This time I got a refund from DoorDash. And quite frankly should have gotten a full refund. Included bread was stale (not the first time). Italian sushi is worse than store bought prosciutto roll ups. Cheap prosciutto and mozzarella. Not good. Salads are iffy. Both times my wife ordered a salad she said it was terrible. Escarole and bean soup, great taste, where's the beans and escarole? It was all potato. Cheap filler. Seafood salad was ok, except mussels are overcooked and those clams rear their head again, sandy. Poor clam prep. Must be lack of caring people in the kitchen. This place could be excellent...not sure we will try again anytime soon. read more

My husband and I discovered this place on Resy. We've only gotten take out from here but we love it!! The Volpe sandwich is full of flavor! I love their chicken vodka sliders. I've been going to Boniello's for years and hesitate to give them a bad review. I order d a simple salad and soup for dinner. I ordered a quart of soup to have some for lunch the next day. I had to wait a few minutes to pick up my order but that's ok. I drove away and thought to stop and check my order. The soup was a pint and not a quart. Back to Boniello's it was. When I got there and took the soup out it wasn't even the correct one. I think I waited a good 10-15 mins for the correct soup. They did tell me to keep the pint which was nice. The kicker? I got home and there was no salad dressing. Plus the bread was horribly stale. I was really disappointed in the service. This isn't the first time it's happened when I have picked up food. read more

I've had my eye on Boniello's for quite some time, and finally had the opportunity to stop in for lunch. Talk about a solid meal! We started with the garlic knots which had a nice crisp on the outside and were soft on the inside. My husband ordered a personal pie that nailed all the elements: perfect crust and just the right amount of cheese and sauce. I had one of their salads from the specials menu that was topped with grilled shrimp, avocado and mango. All the ingredients were super fresh, although for $16 I wish there was 1 or 2 more shrimp. Been here a lot for takeout mostly for pizza and it's always been good. But today I saw they posted their chicken porpora on instagram and it looked so good we needed to have it. At at the restaurant for the first time and it was perfect. We started with the buffalo garlic knots and they were great. The chicken porpora was amazing. It was huge, the photos don't do it justice but we totally could've split it. The gnocchi was really good and the chicken was perfect. It's just a special but they really should add it to the menu permanently. Service was great and really fast. The vibe in this place is so cute, it's really clean and cozy. It was pricey but for how much food we got, it's totally justified. Will definitely be coming to eat here many more times! read more

We really enjoyed the rice ball and the meat ball. The sauce that came with the meat ball was very good. Our toddler was tired so we had a few bites of everything else and then had to pack everything to go. The server was very quick and attentive to our need. When I noticed TWO tables got their appetizers before we got ours, our server comes by and says, "It will be out soon". She didn't like the hungry looks we had. Ambiance is nice. It is crowded always and loud but overall nice. Service has always been good. I think I had pasta and maybe chicken before which were both good. Last night I got the seafood platter special which had salmon, flounder, tuna and shrimp with rice and mixed vegetables. The salmon was bland. Flounder just looked gross and didn't taste like anything. Tuna was over cooked. Shrimp was good. Rice was good. Vegetables were under cooked. My boyfriend had the chicken piccata which was good and I ate some of his. My brother had the chicken parm which he liked and looked delicious. I really think I just picked the wrong dinner. For dessert we had a half dozen zeppoles, chocolate cake and affogato. The zeppoles are awesome and the affogato too. The chocolate cake was overly sweet and not great in my opinion. The menu is extensive so it was hard to decide but we enjoyed everything. My husband loved the buffalo knots and his chicken Marsala. The homemade balsamic on my house salad was delicious and the butternut squash ravioli were perfect for a lighter option. It's a bit pricey but the portions are large.
