Been coming to the Benson City Grill for some years. The views, the Atmosphere, the Service, the Food are always amazing. Bartender/Server Dainara is the best anywhere. Always makes the extra effort in creating some really good drinks, including my favorite, the Jalapeño Margarita. Along with being a great Bartender, Dainara is always a pleasure to talk to. The bartenders here are extremely nice. I ordered buffalo wings and fries with some Pepsi, but my Pepsi tasted more like Coke, and it was very diluted. My buffalo wings were very delicious, and my fries were perfect, but they had a unique taste. Unfortunately, we had to wait a long time for our food. But overall, this place is a nice area to eat at, the view is absolutely Beautiful, the ability to see ducks and cranes out in the field is definitely worth it. I'm so very disappointed in this place! I used to order the fish and chips on Friday because it was very well made and tasted good but those days are gone! I ordered by phone. They called back and asked if I wanted my salmon grilled or fried. I said grilled. This is what we got! They grilled ALL 3 fish dinners! The service is always fantastic and friendly. The lunches have always been great but I don't know what was going on last week in the kitchen because our breakfast wasn't good. We were only two people, and two only two other people there, so they weren't swamped. I ordered biscuits and gravy with a scrambled egg on the side but the egg came sinking on top of the gravy and the biscuits were flat, and doughy inside. My friends's OE came hard fried and his toast wasn't toasted and no butter. ‍ Screwing up one order isn't a big deal, but both? We'll leave breakfast up to the other restaurants in town. read more

Had the sirloin steak with loaded baked potato and vegetables. Was a little chewy but flavorful. Vegetables ( squash, Carrots, cauliflower, broccoli) we're a little overdone. LoadedBaked potato with cheese, bacon chives and sour cream was ok. They had Tito's vodka for the the lemon drop martini, which was pretty good. The service was good. The view was really nice. The patio was really nice but a little too cold this time of year to sit out there. The background music was good. The other patron chatter was a little loud. Warning: It appears this restaurant has changed hands. The menu is completely different than it was just a few months ago. What is worse, the place is in an utter state of confusion. A friend and I arrived for lunch, and there was only one server for the entire restaurant (two if not three were needed). Ten minutes after we ordered, the server returned to say what my friend had ordered was not available. She then went to another table and told someone there the same thing. My friend ordered something else and, when our food arrived, after a much longer time than would be normal, I noticed my side was different than what the menu said. Only when I mentioned it did the server say that what I wanted was not available. I asked for a different side: something that should not have taken more than five minutes to prepare. Over twenty minutes later, it arrived, and it was room temperature, although it ought to have been served hot. My water was never refilled and my friend's coffee was never refilled. Truly, it is not the server's fault. One single employee can do only so much, and she was clearly trying hard. But the restaurant apparently does not have half of what is listed on the menu (which is not especially extensive) and, too, has not hired sufficient staff. By the way, what I ordered -- the avocado toast -- was edible but not especially good. All of this suggests to me that this restaurant is no longer worth going to. I won't be returning, at least not until they change hands again. read more

For our little town, this is a wonderful place to have a meal next to the reed-rimmed pond watching the red wing blackbirds and listening to the song of the grackles. The salads are very nice for this part of the world! The lettuce is fresh and clean, with assorted seasonal vegetables, and a very nice range of dressings. The BLT sandwich, the hamburgers, and the prime rib on the weekend are worth every penny. It's not an expensive place; it's run by the City of Benson and is adjacent to our public golf course. The ambience is very casual. Check the meal times; they're not open every day of the week. read more

My friend brought me to the Benson City Grille for my birthday lunch. Service was lovely. The French dip sandwiches were huge and so delicious! The restaurant was bright and cheerful and we had an amazing lunch. The sandwich was so big that I was able to take the other half home to my son for his lunch. we went for brunch today and there were only a few people there eating. our waitress gave us a long list of what they were out of, biscuits, sausage, ham, eggs ben. we drank our $3 coffees and had to ask for plain cream. never got water or silverware. after a long wait waitress told us they were out of eggs! husband then ordered a sandwich, i ordered avacado toast that comes with fruit. the sandwich we good but fries were so salty he couldn't eat them. my toast had almost no avacado and no fruit. when i asked for the fruit waitress said they would have to cut some up! it came later. we walked out with another family and asked how their food was and they said all cold, took forever and they were out of almost everything. first & last time for them and we agreed! how could a sunday brunch place be out of eggs? read more

Benson City Grille is a nice, safe restaurant to go to in a little town that, quite honestly, I'm a bit timid to eat in. I hardly ever have luck at these types of restaurants. But I would definitely go back to this one the next time I'm in Benson. The place isn't visually stunning. The parking lot is a little beaten up. The building is just a ho-hum kinda building. The decor...well, there really is no decor. Tables, chairs, carpet. That's all you're getting here. Still, it was pretty clean and looked to be kept up at least a little bit. We called ahead because we were bringing a very large party. They set up a bunch of tables for us, but it turned out that we needed a few more, and they made it happen with no issues. The space is actually great for large parties, but make sure you call ahead to be fair to them. After we were settled, a very kind and patient waitress took our drink order. They were delivered pretty quickly, and a second waitress made sure they were always filled. I was quite shocked at how awesome the drink refills for such a giant party was handled! Major props to Benson City Grille for the attentiveness! They then took all of the kids' orders, which was an excellent idea, because the little buggers were getting antsy. They put those orders in, and soon started to take the rest of the orders. Because the party was so large and the small nature of their kitchen, they decided to take the orders in stages. The first third of us, then the second, then the rest. There are pluses and minuses to this strategy, but all-in-all, I think it was very smart of them. They knew their kitchen couldn't handle twenty meals at once, so they split them up, making sure every meal was served to every customer hot. Yes, we didn't all get to eat together, but it wasn't a big deal. The people who naturally gravitated towards each other in conversation all had their meals served at the same time, which was pretty awesome awareness on the waitress' part. I'm pretty sure everyone was happy with the arrangement in the end. I certainly heard no griping. The food itself was pretty decent. I had a turkey club, which was very tasty. It was a nice portion of turkey, bacon, and cheese. It's a basic sandwich, but they do it well enough here. My husband had the Reuben, and he loved it. He seemed pretty sure that the meat was freshly prepared in-house. It just had that taste and tenderness to it. The bread was good and the sandwich had plenty of cheese and sauce. He also had the house made chips, which were good. Not a slam dunk, but good. Everyone else's food looked good. The tuna melt looked really good. After eating, everyone went outside to admire Benson City Grille's patio that overlooks the golf course's ponds. It's a very pretty view, and the patio gave the kids a nice stretch of land to run around on without interrupting the other diners inside. My only real gripe was the bathroom. I went in early on when we first arrived at the restaurant, and I was not impressed with the cleanliness. There were multiple dead bugs on the floor, and I'm pretty sure there was a smear of poop on the wall. It was brown and right next to the toilet in any case. Meh. When I'm traveling this far from home, I really want to dine at a place with a clean toilet. In any case, for a town like Benson, Benson City Grille is a real gem. So we went here for New Years Eve. I called to see if you had to make reservations and I was told no. When we got there (party of four) we were told that we needed reservations. We started to leave and a waitress advised there had been a cancelation. We all ordered the steak and lobster. When we got our food the portion sizes were ridiculous for the price. Not only that it was cold and dry. The waitress didn't come to check on us for TWENTY minutes. It was horrible food, terrible service and not a good experience. I will not be back. read more

Traveling in town from Atlanta and my future brother in-law recommended this place as he eats here often. First it has a beautiful view over the gold course. He told me it was under new management and Chef Randy Galleano knows what he's doing in the kitchen. The Reuben sandwich was amazing, so was my fiancé's Swiss and mushroom burger was excellent. My in-laws had the corn beef meal which was so big they shared it and they too loved it. I highly recommend dining here! read more

This grill is located at the San Pedro Golf Course. We stopped in after a round of 18. There is both inside and outside seating. The facility overlooks the 18th hole. There is plenty of parking and this place is just off Interstate 10. Prices are very reasonable. There is also a full bar if you want alcohol with your meal. We were hungry for lunch after doing the cavern tour and saw a good review on Yelp and decided to take a chance (there was only one review which always makes me suspicious). It is at the golf course but the food was very good. So don't let the looks of it chase you away. Everyone enjoyed their lunch. Not really worthy of a 5 star but a good 4. There is very little to choose from at the City Grille for vegetarians, but what there is? I like it. The food is worth four and a half stars (at least for a small town like Benson). Most of wait staff deserve five stars. But perhaps 25% of the time I've been to this restaurant, there is a problem. For instance, twice, when I went in the summer, the place was closed during lunch time. Huh? And then there is what happened during my most recent visit. We got to the City Grille at around 11:25am, and there were customers at only one or two other tables. Three waitresses were available to wait on tables. We were told by one of them that we were lucky we had come when we did because a very large group was expected to arrive soon. We sat down before the large group came, we ordered before the large group came, and we were given our drinks before the large group came. When they (perhaps 40 individuals) arrived, about ten minutes after we arrived, it was not long before they were being served their food. We, however, had to wait. And wait. And wait. Our food did not come. Our drinks were not refilled. Our waitress explained nothing. Finally, I cornered her and said that I noticed that the people who had come quite some time after us were already being served. "Oh, we're just bringing them their sides," she said. As if that would make any difference to me. I could see that she was oblivious to the fact that we didn't care WHAT they were being served. We were hungry, we had gotten their first, and we wanted to eat. It was not until the entire group had been served that our food came, about 45 minutes after we'd first ordered. There was no free desert or discount to make up for the lateness. There was no apology. It was as if this was a normal procedure. And perhaps it is for the City Grille. However, this sort of thing has never happened to me at the Horseshoe, at the Asian Bistro, or at Mi Casa (the other restaurants in Benson I like). Those three places seem to appreciate my business more, so they are going to get more of it. read more

We arrived at this restaurant approximately 1 p.m. and found it extremely busy. It is at the golf course and seems to be the Gathering Place for many seniors. We sat on the patio and had a beautiful view of the golfers, the mountains and all of the water hazards. Unfortunately they allow smoking on the patio which I thought was against the law in Arizona but apparently not there. It wasn't too bad until the end of our meal when several people lit up, and the smoke just kind of sat above our table. So we quickly finished our meal and left. I had a hamburger and it was good and so were the sweet potato waffle fries. My husband ordered the reuben and asked for extra sauerkraut which he did not receive but thought the sandwich was okay. I probably would not go back just because of the smoking and the loudness of the other customers. Okay, indoors they play their music much too loud. But if you sit outside during nice weather, you can escape the music and you've got a reasonably pretty view. The quality of the food is, if not topnotch, still much better than you'd expect in a town the size of Benson. There are a couple of vegetarian options, too. The wait staff is friendly and fast. All in all, this is the best restaurant in Benson by far. It costs a dollar or two more per meal than the other places, and it is well worth it. read more
