We decided to stop in and try Benson's by the beach for breakfast. We were welcomed with fallen soldiers table which was very touching. When we got seated we were seated next to a little Veteran's photo, which was very neat as well. Those appeared to be the only wonderful things about this restaurant. I ordered the country Benedict, it was extremely bland and very disappointing. My husband ordered the crab omelet special, which was a whopping $30, when it arrived at the table it was this small omelet, with a piece of toast and hashbrowns, he said it was really bland and definitely not worth the price. My daughter ordered the breakfast burrito, which was also very bland and not worth the price. My son ordered the French toast with strawberries and whipped cream, now when you think of french toast you think someone couldn't mess that up, well they did, it had way too much cinnamon and my son didn't end up finishing it, we took it home to doctor it up a bit so the cinnamon wasn't quite overwhelming. Overall our experience wasn't great, the waitress checked on us once and then left the check. I can say we will not be back and will not be recommending them to anyone. read more

The hostess (with the purple short hair) is RUDE! While we were waiting to be seated - we were actually googling another restaurant as the first point of contact was not nice. Barking orders at us for one person in each party to stay and wait and the rest of us wait outside. It was pouring outside. There was only one couple ahead of us and then a party of 6 showed up. We could see empty tables - and they had been cleared... but we still waited and waited. By the time we found another restaurant - we were finally seated. Our waitress was Phoebe and she was GREAT! I wish I had read ANY of the reviews before putting myself & my family through this nasty breakfast experience. The chicken fried steak is obviously a frozen patty of some sort, the "gravy" was definitely canned. Hash browns were under cooked. The sausage tasted like it was previously frozen & microwaved to warm. The bacon was dripping grease and limp. All this was taken to go, we were only a block away so the condition of the food had nothing to do with it being to go. Overall a horrible experience, well worth negative 4 out of negative 5 stars if possible. The only saving grace would be the eggs, at least they weren't raw. We got to Bensons at about 1030 for brunch. We were seated quickly. They were spacing people out really well. Our waitress Phoebe was great she brought us coffee and waters quickly and attended to all our needs. She took our food order and we waited and waited and waited. In other words it took awhile to get our food. We were in good company and visiting so the time passed. When we got our food it was really good and filling. Omelets were good ,hash browns crisp and the french toast was great. We finished our meals and our waitress brought our bills. She apologized that our food had taken so long and she told us they had comped some items and discounted others. I found it refreshing that they admitted there was an issue without being confronted and that they took steps to make it right. If you are in town go to Bensons. read more

Benson's by the beach breakfast did not meet my expectations! As I thought "this restaurant only serves breakfast, so they must master in breakfast".... Well I thought wrong. The chicken fried steak did not taste homemade as advertised, I tasted a sausage patty with gravy on top and the ALL meat breakfast burrito was overpriced for the quantity and quality of ingredients. We paid more to get an all meat burrito but what we got was a hash brown burrito with a splash of meat. For being a "breakfast restaurant" In my opinion there are better ones around. Had the CFS this morning with a group of 8, seated very quickly, service was excellent and very attentive! The Chicken Fried Steak could have been a little larger, but a good deal for 16$.....good selection of breakfast plates. Our friend got the veggie omelette. We didn't have any complaints about the taste. Everything tasted like it should. the coffee was basic and nothing too exciting but that's okay. Seafood Eggs Benedict: To be honest I came here today craving anything seafood so my evaluation of the Seafood Eggs Benedict may have been skewed. I love seafood and I love eggs Benedict, unfortunately the combo of the two here were only average. The tangy hollandaise sauce over powdered the delicate flavors of the crab and shrimp. The tang of the ordinary sauce should have been dialed back a bit especially for this dish for it to have had a chance. Veggie omelette: so so! Biscuits and gravy: so so! We came to Benson's by the beach for breakfast and enjoyed the friendliness and promptness of our server, Skyla. She also informed us of the daily specials. This place is quaint and Conveniently located near numerous hotels. It is a place to go for an early meal. The sausage and egg plate was beautiful assembled and the half order B&G was smothered with gravy. I must say the price for a glass of milk could be a gallon purchase at a grocery store. We dined in for breakfast. We ordered the short stack of pancakes (2), French toast with whipped cream and strawberries with a side of hash browns. It was more than enough for two adults and two teens, we actually had leftover pancake and French toast. The pancakes are huge and hung off the side of the plate and came with plenty of syrup. The French toast seems to be made with a whole wheat bread so for me it definitely needed the extra sweetness of the whipped cream and strawberries. On a work trip just before spring break and decided to stay in Long Beach for the weekend at Coastal Inn. It's just before the busy season starts for this town but there's still a good mix of us tourists and locals at the restaurant that weekend. Bensons is just a 3 minute walk from the hotel so we headed over for breakfast. This place is absolutely wonderful. It's very popular because it's the best breakfast place in town IMO. They only serve breakfast but that's what we wanted. Expect a wait but it's worth it! My wife had the French toast which is 3 HUGE slices of bread (and we live in Texas so yeah when I say large portions it was Texas sized!) and I had the brisket eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was the best I've had in a long time. Everyone is pleasant and friendly. Our service was great, the atmosphere and ambiance was perfect for this establishment. Even though they were busy we didn't feel rushed as we finished our flavorful coffee. Highly recommend when you come to Long Beach, WA. read more

As a family of four we came here over the holiday break in 2023. This place might be adequate if you only need to fill your belly, but it misses the mark on many counts. The place is bright and well lit, but the tables and chairs seemed a bit cheap. The apple and orange juices were terrible, unripe and very acidic OJ and watered down tasting apple juice. The coffee tasted like they reused the grounds a dozen times and was served so hot it promptly burned my mouth. My wife's Dungeness cCab Benedict was by far the tastiest thing but cost $30. My biscuits and gravy was bland and the gravy tasted like it came from a can. My son ordered the full stack of pancakes, which were some of the largest I've seen, but tasted realistic bland. The servers were friendly and adequate. In short, when we return to Long Beach, we'll look for a breakfast joint that delivers better than Bensons. read more

I do have to say the eggs were poached perfectly, and the service was excellent. That is why I gave them two stars. I paid $14 for a hamburger patty and a plate full of bland food. I would have happily paid a couple dollars more for a real chicken fried steak and a plate of food with flavor. Seasoning salt goes a long way and ads flavor to everything you cook! This is a great little place! It's family owned and you definitely get that vibe and treatment. They have lots of menu options, and the prices are very reasonable. I couldn't decide what I wanted so I had their croissant breakfast sandwich and a side of French toast. I was so full, i didn't finish either but I loved them both. Their kitchen is small therefore a little slow, but they do have a sign that states this, so I was pretty forgiving about it. It's definitely a hot spot in this small town so we had to wait a bit, but there was a bench outside so it wasn't so bad.
