One of our favorite breakfast places in Long Beach. Easy to get to as they are on the main strip through town. The staff is so friendly, the food is delicious. Everything comes out quickly and hot. Portions can be big so get s to go box for leftovers. They can get busy during the summer season so you may have to wait for a table but it's worth it. Casual environment and not super loud but can be when there are large parties. Check them out the next time you're in Long Beach.

Here I was wondering why such a nice little spot with food that looked real good (and affordable) could have such a low rating. We went in and waited nearly 5 minutes for someone to come out and seat us. The place was empty. Two other groups came in while we were eating. The food looked good, but one of the poached eggs was broken and had uncooked egg whites. The hashbrowns tasted like spoiled grease. Both my wife and I had stomach problems the rest of the day. Its too bad that this place wasn't better.

Safe and simple. Maybe a little too safe and simple. Not much seasoning. Cinnamon roll was fine and decent value. A safe pick restaurant, it's like mom's cooking if mom is an average cook. Prices are cheapish.. so I guess it evens out.

    Wonderful breakfast!

Not sure where the"allows dogs" came from. The DO NOT have a place for dogs. Only service dogs are allowed. Nice atmosphere. Staff is really nice. Food is really good. Pancake is the size of a plate. Cut it into 4 and had a 4 pancake stack. Added the stashed and whipped cream. The marion berry syrup was perfect. Bacon was not overcooked abd tasty.

We got seated quickly and our waiter was tons of fun. Food was nice, standard Americana - 100% what you want from a DINER breakfast.

Friendly attentive staff and good eats! It was a little down the road from the main restaurants but that made for no waiting. Bonus!

I ordered a pasta salad, and it came with lettuce and no pepperoncini. We also ordered a taco salad, and it was served without salsa or sour cream. Then we were told they didn't have any mustard for sandwiches, yet somehow there's ketchup sitting on the table for the french fries. How does a restaurant serving sandwiches not have mustard? What really topped it off was when I complained to our server. His response was basically that he's quitting in two weeks and that I should talk to the kitchen manager because he's the one who makes the menu. That tells you everything you need to know. To the kitchen manager: before putting items on a menu, learn how those dishes are actually supposed to be prepared and make sure the restaurant has the basic condiments and ingredients needed to serve them. The whole experience felt disorganized and poorly managed from beginning to end. Based on our visit, I absolutely would not recommend The Cove Restaurant. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Crispy, flaky, fresh, and absolutely delicious! My only request is a few more fries because they disappeared faster than my willpower around good seafood. Coleslaw: Let's just say... it had seen some things. The cabbage had already started making its own juice and seemed one step away from becoming sauerkraut. Definitely not my cup of tea. Tartar sauce: Good! No complaints. It quietly did its job. Service: 5/5. The staff were amazing! Super friendly, welcoming, and the food arrived incredibly fast. They definitely earned top marks. Ambiance: 5/5. It had the charm of a classic fishing shack, packed with fun nautical decorations and quirky touches. It felt authentic, relaxed, and like the kind of place where fish stories get bigger with every visit. Overall, I'd happily come back for the halibut, the fantastic service, and the fun atmosphere.

I stopped in hoping for reasonably priced fried seafood.....the Loose Caboose stopped me in my tracks! The service was attentive and really efficient, the ambiance is artfully decorated dollar bills stuck in between railroad and coastal memorabilia......it's an eclectic mix for ambiance. But: I just had probably the best clam chowder I've ever had. More clams, big chunks of clams, than potatoes......and somehow even tender, yet still identifiable celery? For real, I'd eat a gallon of that chowder. I almost took some to go. Fortunately, I went a bit jiggy with my fried prawns.....and got the 10pc! Like the chowder, the prawns were beyond excellent. Lightly breaded, tempura, almost. The breading actually had body and flavor....it isn't window dressing! And the prawns were very big, very juicy, and absolutely the perfect level of done.......a revelation among prawns, for sure! The sauces didn't taste like they came off the food service truck either. Both the tartar sauce and cocktail sauce were exemplary. The added coleslaw was bright and crisp with just a hint of malt vinegar.....a perfect dressing! I stopped in for just "some food"......what I got was a delightful experience. I'll absolutely be back!
