So I haven't been to this restaurant in several years. I met my girlfriend here for her birthday for lunch. I was disappointed to find out that they had no lunch menu at all. We both had a salad with salmon on it. It was $19 and way too big for a lunch meal.. the place was dead. I really feel like they would do better if they had a lunch menu ...that being said the inside was super nice... And the salad was actually really good. But $44 for two salads for lunch seemed a bit much we both had water. I should also mention I asked for bread and was told it wasn't made? if you're charging dinner prices, you should be prepared to serve the same thing you do at dinner most people want bread with salad. read more

I ordered carry-out Tuesday evening (7/20/2021) My order was for the Wagyu Burger and Crab Rangoon appetizer. When I arrived the nice hostess informed me they ran out of Crab Rangoon and if I wanted to choose another appetizer, so I choose the steak bites and she went directly to the cook and to expedite the order, in the meantime my burger was waiting there in it's too-go box getting soggy, which I didn't realize until I got back to my campsite which was only a few miles away. The Wagyu Burger was not cooked to my expectations, especially at its cost, it was rare in the middle and medium on the outside, I prefer my burger medium all the way through, When I called in my order, no one asked me how I prefer my burger cooked. The thought didn't occur to me to ask them to cook it medium-well, as I rarely order a burger. The bottom side of the bun was soggy and fell apart when I picked it up. Now the steak bites, they were absolutely amazing, probably the best I've ever had or up there on the top of the list ! The hostess was really nice. The restaurant was nice inside and outside. If it wasn't for the disappointing burger, I would give them a higher rating, however I cant overlook throwing a $16 half eaten burger into the trash can, and that's exactly what happened. read more

We love this place and are lucky it is so close to home. They have a wonderful menu with options ranging from a great tasting burger and fries to a delicious steak or salmon. I've tried quite a few things on the menu but my favorite is probably the lobster mac n cheese. And bonus points because they make a gluten free option! Its Its perfectly creamy and has a generous portion of lobster. They even server me gluten free rolls with it. Ah heaven. On one occasion I ordered something I didnt like. It was a salmon dish and I really wasnt happy with the sauce. The manager came over and suggested a different sauce and they quickly prepared a new meal for me. The new sauce was perfect and now when I am in the mood for salmon, I ask for it that way. The manager was so kind and went out if his way to make sure we were happy, I was never made to feel like a bother for being dissatisfied. I came in here for dinner with a friend on NYE 2018 before going to another friend's NYE party that was only going to have appetizers at and no real food. We were able to get seated right away even though we did not have a reservation or did call ahead which you evidently needed this night. We were seated in the bar area in high top tables. Not necessarily my favorite type of chair given how long my legs are - my feet are normally past the foot rest rung. The food was great. There are a lot of options for gluten free people including macaroni and cheese. I started with a ceasar salad minus the croutons. It was decent, nothing to write home about. My friend went with the two onion soup and she said that it was okay. For dinner I had the Pit smoked Brisket. It was okay though the brussel sprouts were actually better then the brisket. For dessert, I went with creme brulee instead of the chocolate lava cake. This was at the recommendation of our waitress. It was okay but I'm pretty sure I would have enjoyed the lava cake better just because it is chocolate. I can't say that I will be back as this is really not that close to my house but if my friend who had the NYE party has another one, I will probably back due to no food really at her parties. read more

Ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer. It was the worst ever $15.00 for 5 regular sized shrimp. It was a horrible appetizer with a weak sauce as well. The drinks were not even a decent pour at $16.00 for a 3/4 shot at best for a Blantons on the rocks.?Every time I go there there the experience is less satisfying than the time before. I will never go back there again. There are too many restaurants in the area that actually serve their customers an amazing menu and don't scrimp on their customers. First time dining passing through Commerce MI. Started with Tomato Bruschetta very disappointing in general. The Crostini was soggy and could be used as the topper for a french onion soup, the topping itself was not very good either. This misstep wouldn't prevent us from returning. Wife had Mystic Carbonara and thoroughly enjoyed it. I dined a little lighter with Sweet & Spicy Calamari as an entree and also enjoyed the dish. Our server Mark was attentive and professional. I cannot believe I haven't given the BG a review!! You might notice that my reviews of other area restaurants can't touch The Benstein Grille, and I mean it! I really like this place. I think the food is always tasty and a good value for the price. I think I mainly come here for the ambiance first. I like the mixture of people that feel at home here. It's complimentary valet parking and you'll see everything from a Jag to a beat-up Chevy pickup in the parking lot and BG staff treats everyone with respect and friendly rapport. I like that a lot. Okay, on to the food! I've had sandwiches, salads, steaks, all kinds of entrees and I've never had a dud. Their fries are good. They don't have onion rings which we regret. But the wine and drink list is appealing. The wait staff is friendly and the food arrives in a timely manner. This is the kind of place I'd do backflips to help them stay in business during tough times. These guys work hard to earn their customers respect and they consistently deliver great food and service. Nice interior with central bar, lots of tables. Unfortunately being seated was extremely slow (over an hour wait). Noted many open tables and were told they were for reservations. Service was quick, food was good not great. Brisket was a standout, super tender. Chicken sandwich was dripping in sauce and the pretzel bun was very hard. The service and ambiance are great, however, the meals my husband and I ate weren't anything to write home about. I had the 12oz ribeye because I wanted to try their au gratin potatoes. The steak was bland and chewy. They give you a cheap steak knife to cut it with (think Ponderosa) and as a woman I don't want to have to saw on my steak in front of others. The au gratin potatoes were terrible. Literally no seasoning whatsoever and the cream was thick and not hot. Some of the potatoes were cooked, others were pretty crunchy. Tried to buy tickets for a wine dinner and wasn't allowed to purchase tickets online through the provided link. Called the restaurant and the person who answered the phone said she knew nothing about the dinner. She said that she would have the manager call back. I never received a call. Got online today, and saw that I was finally able to purchase tickets. Bought four tickets and an hour later, received a call from the manager explaining that the dinner was sold out and that I would get a refund for my purchase. The food and service at Benstein has been very good but the people running the special promotions need to gain some experience before we ever return. Very poor management and extremely poor communication as well as incompetent social media staff. read more

Came here w wife n 2 young kids at 7:30 just before it filled up. We were seated right away. The restaurant is like a nice bar with a cabin style. Family friendly as there were many other families with young children too. I ordered the lamb chops medium. They came out perfect. The zip sauce was salty but I feel like that's common at all places. Green beans looked grilled and still had plenty of crunch in a good way. The mashed potatoes were good, more on the very whipped side. I prefer lumpy to show their homemade. They were nice and buttery though. My wife ordered the fillet mignon medium well. It came out looking ok on one side but fully charred on the other. The waitress said that was totally unacceptable. It was more like an very well done. They said they would replace it quickly in about 10 minutes. It was about 15-20 minutes. The waitress was sincerely apologetic about it which I appreciated. The second filet came out well done. It was juicy still but fully cooked with no pink at all. I get every restaurant does it different but a little pink is the minimum. We didn't complain about the second steak because we didn't want to wait any longer. We've ordered the filet mignon medium well from here in the past and it was perfect before. Probably a new cook or something tonight. I stole some fries from the kids they were really good with a different kind of breading and cut in wedges. My cherry coke was served in a hot glass which melts the ice quick and waters the pop down. I had to ask the waitress for a refill. She was more concerned about the steak coming out later than expected. The second glass of cherry coke was also in a hot glass fresh out of the dishwasher. I noticed the waitresses grab the glasses from left to right on the shelf. That's also how the bus boy stocked the glasses. The stock boy should rotate so people don't get watered down pop. The staff was friendly but the steak was a big disappointment. My lamb chops were awesome and would recommend. Tough deciding on rating a 2 or 3 because of the steaks, delays and watered down pop. read more
