Great food and service! Great atmosphere too! Drinks and food have always been wonderful!

Last review, last time we dine here: I was contacted by the owners regarding the below review. I did not return contact as I felt We would all dine again to assess changes.The rolls were better as was the flavored oil dip.Margarita, same old yuck mix even when we had Grand Marnier added.Just a very cheap mix flavor.No amount of limes/oranges helped.My son ordered the 14oz Ribeye steak($30.00+ dollars)with a twice baked potato,green beans(burnt)and does not come with sour cream,Hmm.I don't remember seeing this on the old menu.The steak was a small very uneven/unprofessional 14oz cut,not seasoned at all with zip sauce on the side.I have to say it was cooked as ordered,however,not the greatest grade of beef(standard?).My 93 year old mother who loves to dine out, ordered the tenderloin tip pasta.One of my partner's other favs.Instantly my mother said,taste her pasta.It was so bland!This is hard to understand.Zip sauce as the base which is typically salty.I asked to speak with the manager(unsure if owner or not).I introduced myself and explained our long time history of dining there to include battling it out in the freezing cold,outside,in support of one of our fav local businesses.I also mentioned my past review and their request to speak about our experience. After reviewing that the rolls,smoked wings,Rangoon's and burger good, the lack of seasoning on the other meals, and the awful Margarita we were told :They serve 100 ribeyes a week with no complaints. People order the margaritas all the time with no complaints.I find this hard to believe.Never once saying he tried the items himself.What I took away from this was,do not like the food perhaps don't order it.Or better yet don't bother coming back?Don't need your business.Sad because this restaurant used to have lines to wait and now it looks as if one can walk in and be seated.Our other hot spots appear to have maintained their foot traffic?We search to find a restaurant that offer gluten free where our grown children could enjoy too.If we did not think that just small changes would make a difference I would have never bothered.I had been raised in the restaurant business.Sometimes staff need reminders/new staff training?There are other restaurants to spend our money,as you have recommended. Initial review:Been dining here a number of years.Prior to the Pandemic quality had gradually been on the decline.We braved the freezing cold,with our own blankets and ate outside on a number of occasions. The draw here is the Gluten Free options for my"Better Half."Location also plays a role.The sweet potato hash with chorizo, well let's just say we even those we introduce to Benstein's do not eat it nor order it a second time.I mean where is the flavor,you can maybe count the little pieces of chorizo.The Brisket is dry,a very small portion for the money but you get lots of..hash.NOW LETS TALK THE PORK CHOPS. Come on now, so thin and not even close to being similar in size and $$$.So thin and with both being so small one even looked the size of a lamb chop.This is definitely an over priced meal on the menu.I finally talked to my son into coming out to eat with us, as you know I mentioned earlier we come for the gluten-free options.When we first started dining here this was not so.I was never so embarrassed when I saw that plate of pork chops come out to the table.What happens when you order the one pork chop option,do they just bring that teeny weenie itty-bitty chop on your plate with the less than appealing hash?I don't understand why the gluten free buns are as hard as a rock(over microwaved?).As mentioned in another's review,the Ruben is very very dry. I don't know what happens with the cream sauces here. Is hard to even explain.Very thin abd separated. Appetizers are good.Drinks.... Well, do not order the margarita.It had the worst poured out of a cheap mix taste.I doubt we will ever get the whole family let alone one or more at a time to come back out to eat here again.I mentioned earlier,we dine here for the GF choices. Dine in is great, take out is variable. Sometimes you get completely wrong item. Fries are usually soggy.

We were passing through from Pittsburgh and enjoyed the atmosphere, delicious food, and timely and friendly service. Loved it!

We came for a girls night dinner and had a great time! We ordered the Cherry Limeade cocktail and the Wildberry Mojito cocktail both were delicious! We ordered the pretzel app which was very good. The tenderloin pasta had great flavor and so did the Mystic Carbonara. My other two friends got the veggie pasta and the seafood pasta which they both loved. The pasta seemed to be homemade. We went to Benstein Grille on a very cold winter night to celebrate my nephew's birthday. There's not much around there, so I'm very grateful for the Google Maps app. Once I found it, I couldn't find a parking place, so I made one. Only as I walked in did I see the complimentary valet sign. Had I seen it when I drove in, I probably would've take advantage of it. The menu was nicely varied, and our server was very personable and helpful. We ordered the Pinconning Fondue and crab & shrimp bites for appetizers. The crab & shrimp bites were very tasty -- just like little crab cakes. The Pinconning fondue wasn't really fondue at all, as there was no pot of cheese over a warmer nor little bits of food to dip into it; rather, was more of a cheese dip. The "pretzels" weren't pretzels at all. Instead, they were more like salty breadsticks in an interesting shape. That said, it was VERY good. I like that the bread wasn't overly salty and the cheese dip was very rich. I tried a bit of the sweet sauce, and that was good as well, but not as good as the cheese dip. I ordered the Knight's chicken. it was two pieces of chicken breast with a light sauce & mushrooms served with orzo that had asparagus in it & a red sauce over it. I wasn't terribly impressed with the sauce on the orzo, but it was fine. The chicken was a bit salty for my taste, but other than that, it was good. My sister had the chicken cordon bleu, which had been my other choice. I tasted it, and it was very good -- also a bit on the salty side, but a nice, rich flavor nonetheless. Others in our party ordered the cobblestone salad (it came in a lovely and interesting bowl), veggie pasta, hanger steak and Birkdale crab and shrimp cakes (which were slightly larger versions of the appetizer.) Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, although, again, there were comments of too much salt. That seems to be a common problem in many restaurants; yes, seasoning is important, but when the salt overtakes the rest the flavors, it greatly diminishes the experience. Since it was a birthday, dessert was mandatory. We decided to get a bunch of desserts to share. We ordered everything except the ice cream sundae and chocolate lava cake! All were served with fresh blackberries & raspberries, which was a very nice touch. All of them were delicious. Somewhat to my surprise, I think I liked the cheesecake the best, even though it was the carrot cake & apple crumble that caught my eye. Was there earlier this week for a celebration with family. In the past, we had chosen not to try this place because the menu just didn't seem to fit our taste. At some time that must have changed, because the current menu includes steaks, pasta, burgers, etc.... Much more like what we wanted, so we gave it a shot. And we hit the jackpot! Filet and ribeyes were simply out of this world. Pasta was outstanding, and the appetizer we chose (Pinconning cheese fondue) was wonderful. Service was excellent, tables were distanced appropriately and all staff wore masks. An A+ experience truly made for a great evening. We will be back soon! read more

My first time at the Benstein Grill was for a birthday party of 14 people. We opted for a Sunday brunch time and we basically had the place to ourselves. There is a section of the restaurant that can be separated by heavy curtains that you might not even notice when they are fully open. There are plenty of menu items to choose from, interesting twists on classic items. We tried a lot of things, including the breakfast nachos and the BG skillet. Our servers were friendly and attentive- my dish was delayed about five minutes behind everyone else and the manager personally came over to 1) apologize for the delay 2) explain why (they broke my eggs) and 3) delivered it himself with another apology. I was completely fine but I appreciated his sincerity and attention. Everyone was happy with their food, plenty of refills and such to go around. I am only sad I waited so long to try this place and can't wait to come back for a dinner date! read more

Oh my gosh - hands down best food in the area and we've never been dissatisfied with the service! I highly recommend the pork chops or the walleye piccata. They also have a great beer selection. It does get busy sometimes, so I recommend using OpenTable to make a hassle-free reservation. read more

The ol Draft has been redone and made into a contemporary restaurant that has a lot to offer. Decent drinks although a bit pricey, especially the cocktails, and pretty good food has brought me back quite a few times, including NYE this year with a group of 10. Had no complaints honestly, but it did take more than usual to get things brought to the table in a timely fashion. We were in no rush so it wasn't too bad. I would suggest something other than their steaks though. They're not known for em and after having the 14 oz porterhouse, I could taste why. Steaks were just subpar pieces of meat and not worth their $30 value. Get something else, like chicken. Also their crab and shrimp bites aren't very good. Very Long John Silvers hush puppies meet processed, imitation crab meat. No wow factor in this particular meal. However their brunch is pretty dope and those offerings are unique and good. Like the jalapeño julep too when it's made correctly. Good beer list and something for everyone when it comes those options. My group did like their onion soup too; not for me though. Don't know why there's a piece of bread at the bottom. But hey, judge for yourself. I like the place but there's some things that need fixing which is common for a lot of places. read more

Best place to eat in Walled Lake! My family loves going here whenever we can! They have a great menu full of fantastic foods and a variety of specials that switch up everyday! Also it is a pretty classy place, so plan on dressing up a little when you go. Great place for all special occasions, especially having friends visit walled lake for the first time. It gets busy at night so call ahead or just walk in, you'll never have to wait too long. I have tried a decent assortment of the menu here. They have a small but incredible brunch menu. My go to thing to order is the Mystic Carbonara pasta! Super flavorful and light. Also, all the appetizers are to die for so make sure you add one to your order! I've never really had anything here that has disappointed so I'm always coming back. Great staff, great food. Benstein Grille really has something for everyone so give it a try :) read more

I ordered their rosemary lamb chops It came with mashed potatoes and the most amazing fresh green beans seasoned and cooked to perfection. Went for a birthday dinner last night. I didn't have my go to Grilled Shrimp but instead had the BG 2 Napkin Burger. It was awesome. We had a couple of cocktails we've never had before and were very happy with them. It was ok. Service was good but none of the food I tried, on multiple occasions, was memorable.

Yummy food, great service. Not as noisy as most places... you can actually talk to the people at your table.

We made an early reservation, 4 people, so we could avoid the long wait, but after we got our appetizers, our main meal took one hour 10 min to get. My son's, $60, steak was cooked over done, but was starving and did not return it. My steak was cold to the touch as soon as it was put on the table. I had to return it, but because we waited so long for our food, I didn't order anything else. Our servers only came by the one time for our drink order, we were constantly trying to get their attention. The dinner was stressful. I feel they do not have enough servers, and need better cooking staff. The staff didn't seem to be bothered that we were upset. We paid to get good service. We will not go back:( read more

Always pleased with our experience. We had a a little 10-15 minute wait for our party of 6 at 7 PM this Saturday. Not a big deal. Atmosphere was lively. Food has always impressed us and frankly it's what brings us back for an hour drive to the restaurant. Pretzel with cheese fondue and calamari were both perfectly executed apps. Steak tip pasta is a winner. Kids loved their sliders, pasta and flatbread pizza. Lava cake a la mode was decadent. Dad loved the Domaine Manhattan and mom equally loved the pear martini. Glenn (manager/owner?) asked if we were enjoying ourselves - no complaints. But in actuality we were loving it. One of our top 3 restaurants and well worth the hour drive. read more
